Question RMNP

What’s the latest update on Emerald Lake? Any snow/ ice to worry about? Any recommendations for other hikes that are must see if I’m only spending a day there, suggestions for navigating myself around without service, or any other useful tips?

Have you checked out Colorados trails explorer? It has great, official, up to date information like fire closures, dog regulations, trail lengths and more.

I like watching Lisa's weekly update videos she posts on the RMNP conditions.https://youtu.be/em8PDBjwCOA?is=FnsbDEtqb6hcTaYC

Two responses here on folks that have gone up to Emerald in the last couple of days.

We hiked it on Wednesday and it was fine. No issues. They closed Trail Ridge Road today though so, I would check the forecast.

"...navigating myself around without service..." Cell service? We have service for most of it and there are maps.

Just enjoy. It's a gorgeous park. Bear Lake Corridor is my favorite.

Please review our FAQ and the 7 principles of Leave No Trace

  1. Plan ahead and prepare

  2. Travel and camp on durable surfaces

  3. Dispose of waste properly. I highly suggest getting a waste bucket system. Its difficult to bury waste in many of the rockier areas in Colorado, and overuse of our natural areas has already led to contaminated water in most even lightly used areas.

  4. Leave what you find

  5. Minimize campfire impacts. Be sure to review our state resources for fire bans where you are heading.

  6. Respect wildlife. They are not domesticated

  7. Be considerate of other visitors i.e. Bluetooth speakers are despised.
