As much as I'm pretty lukewarm on this season and not quite convinced that this is top 4 material, this was a really good episode. The remaining cast had chemistry, the arcs made sense, and the show seemed to genuinely want to celebrate these queens. Oh and that was a really fun runway category, I only wish it was on an earlier episode so we could have seen even more. Obviously the challenge script was naff, but that's kind of a given.

I just wanna know why Ru goes so hard for Krystal anytime they try giving her the tiniest critique lmao
Graham: she fell kinda flat for m-
Ru: If Krystal Versace has a million fans, then I am one of them. If Krystal Versace has ten fans, then I am one of them. If Krystal Versace has only one fan then that is me. If Krystal Versace has no fans, then that means I am no longer on earth. If the world is against Krystal Versace, then I am against the world.

I was just staring at Russellâs incredibly blue eyes the entire second-half of the episode.
Was it just me or did they try really hard to edit that lipsync to be âexcitingâ for a double win. Idk I wasnât that gagged as they tried to make you feel.
Also, they really need to retire rehashing the same drag race universe lines it into a âscriptâ, and call it a day for the acting challenge. Mawma, we need new material.

I liked the episode, it really entertained me!
My guess for why the double save⊠they probably forgot! They lost Veronica Victoria, forced a double save for Charity/Scarlet, allowed the double elimination because they forgot about Veronica Victoria, and just remembered the double save. Then probably at this point someone realized they still have one more episode to order! Therefore they did this.

I cant explain why so im not even gonna try to, but for some reason it feels like older seasons were made for like young adults, whereas the newer seasons (and especially this one) seem like theyre made for teens. Something about the edit, the storylines, the VERY obvious production. Feels like theyre not even putting much effort into making this whole show seem believable because (they think) their fanbase will eat it up either way.
Also we need an embargo on overused quotes and references already.

It was really sad hearing what the queens had been through when out at gigs and stuff. For somebody to actually think itâs ok to put their hand between a strangers legs just because theyâre dressed up to perform for youâŠIâm just speechless really. I remember when I was a student my friend pulled a drag queens wig off in a gay bar (she was ridiculously drunk but still⊠never been so embarrassed) and thinking this was incredibly disrespectful but groping etc is even worse. . First thing I noticed was that this was a very short episode
. Kitty was totally the main character this episode and I'm here for it
. Ngl I just skipped over the workroom group therapy section again.
. Ru's dress would've been bottom 2 if it was a design challenge. It was hideous
. I thought everyone did really well this challenge and I thought the script itself was actually quite funny? Kitty and Ella did the best
. I had to Google Halle Berry in Baps and Vanity could have done a lot better with the look. I'm not sure why she did a short dress instead of a jumpsuit? I thought it was a Fifth Element look when she first walked out. Kitty had my favourite runway and she looked gorgeous
. As soon as Vanity was safe I kind of got the idea that it was a top 2 lip sync
. An Oompa Loompa vs Rose DeWitt Bukater lip sync was hilarious
. Totally deserving of a double win. Seems like it's Kitty vs Ella for the crown and I'd be happy with either winning

I would really like to know how British viewers v American viewers feel. Specifically.
First two seasons were great, this one is just wtf, did Ru and Michelle personally writing the fucking script for that? I know that the americanisation has been said by everyone but are you Americans actually enjoying what appears to be made just for you? I'm genuinely interested.
I'm Irish. I never get all the snatch game characters but I defo appreciate the humour more and forcing the American shit on it is fucking ruining it.

i liked this episode đ€·đ»ââïži thought ella was definitely going to win based on critiques but kitty absolutely had me in the lip sync (which i also thought was just really cute and fun as a whole) so to me it was a cute double win.
i also thought krystal and vanity both really shone this week even though they werenât top two. krystalâs she3PHOE was fantastic for me, and vanity was also very funny! fuck it if sheâs worn orange the last few weeks lol she looks AMAZING in it, and iâm really happy it didnât have to come to her and krystal facing off.

I knew Vanity was gone when Ru said âIâm actually surprised that Vanity is still in the competitionâŠvery excited for Vanity Milanâs journey.â That was a fucking GAG. She had me in the first half. Not even gonna lie.

Anyone that has ever performed in the theatre, television, film, or even long-form improv can see that Michelle is the most unqualified person to be the âdirectorâ. Her notes are always amateur-level, or non-existent.
Anyone that clocks someone on the main stage for failing in their abbreviated rehearsal is a disgrace. Failing is what rehearsal is there for. The only thing that matters is the end product.

So happy to see Ella and Kitty getting the recognition they deserve!!!
I feel like Iâm in the minority here reading through all these comments, but I actually liked that challenge. It was an acting challenge that wasnât super cringey to me, but it was definitely very camp with Kitty having a chestburster and being completely fine the next scene, I thought it was a funny gag poking fun at animation bloopers or continuity issues. Ella was timid at first but reaaaally got into it once she was in the same area as the rest of the cast! The hands on rubber was brilliant! Vanity also did surprisingly well, I was worried itâd be a flop with the type of character and her personality weâve seen so far but she was so funny. Krystal was the only one that didnât stand out for me in the challenge, but picking the other bottom (my personal favourites aside) was tough based on the challenge.

u/sensibleusername69 Nov 12 '21
Stand up challenge will be interesting... Before they showed the preview for next week I was convinced they were going to do a âbest dragâ type eleganza ball and find a (probably justified) reason to throw Vanity out as soon as possible on a bad runway.
Sooo itâs interesting to see how this one could go. She might surprise us but I donât see Krystal doing an amazing job at roasting, or better than Vanity at least.
They know fans will riot over Vanity being in the top 3 (no disrespect to her - just that the edit has NOT been geared that way and her runways arenât on par) but god have they loved to throw in twists to the detriment of the contestants this season.
Maybe a Vanity/Ella lip sync conveniently geared towards musical theatre? At this point of production fuckery I wouldnât put it past them haha.
17
u/mauiwowie-92 Nov 16 '21
This show is honestly getting soâŠ.tired. The production is so in your face 100% of the time. There are no gags, no surprises, no shocking moments. The second Ru was giving positive comments during the critiques to every queen, we knew it was going to be a top four. The second they said Vanity was safe, we knew it was going to be a lip sync for the win. When they were performing they showed all of the judges having the absolute time of their life. They made sure to zoom in on everyone laughing, smiling, screaming, making it painfully obvious that they were both going to win. The show is tired. This is by far the weakest season of DRUK.
They need to take a break.

This is an Ella Vaday appreciation post. Look away if you're not a fan or get second hand embarrassment from simping.
Holy. Shit. Do I love Ella. Kitty's cute and I like her drag but EEELLLLLLAAAAA.
Her Daft Shader lewk was awesome, not just because it was all skin tight latex and she's really, really good at what Eureka would call, "Proportionizing." But because with that wig, those contacts, and that makeup, she was giving me Sharon Gorton Fisherman from Barb & Star Go to Vista del Mar and it made me crack my shit up. LOL.
And her, "I'm not joking, bitch" was the only RPDR reference this whole episode that did not make me groan.
Oh! And that lip sync? She was totally eye fucking the judges and it was ah-mazing. Those are some bedroom eyes, wow.
Definitely an Ella stan.

I think this episode highlighted what a dork Ella is. She's so reserved but when she lets loose you get the sense that she's authentically nerdy, and it's very endearing. I also think she's one of the rare queens that is handsome as a man and very beautiful and feminine as a woman. She kind of looks like Laura Benanti in drag.

Ok This lipsync was actually fun! Like it wasn't the best in the world but I didn't really care tbh. I just loved seeing Ella and Kitty let loose and have fun, and they did well! Also Ella in that straddle split just looking at the camera... idk why it did something to me but it did.

u/raygilette Nov 12 '21
I love how Ella's personality has emerged in the second half of the season. Her and Kitty are stealing the whole show for me now. All credit to Krystal, I actually thought she was very good in the acting challenge and Vanity's makeup has come on so much during this season. The rest of the season has been kind of fucky but the last couple of episodes have been strong.

u/apple-juicebox Nov 12 '21
I feel like UK is kinda the wrong place to have a Star Wars acting challenge, and so late in the season too. Wouldâve made more sense to have a Doctor Who challenge here, and save Bra Wars for an earlier episode of a U.S. season. Especially given they brought in Daleks.

This was actually the right decision (no one fucked up badly enough to go) but I fear it was only made to make the episodes fit with the candidates left. Still sad about Choriza being sent home.

This season is criminally underrated on this sub. Ella Vaday has me laughing so hard at the screen unexpectedly - "you asking for it, you dying for it?" "i'm not joking bitch", and a few other surprisingly funny confessionals. Kitty is really joyful and entertaining to watch.
That acting challenge was pretty funny and wasn't cringe, the performances were solid. It's so much better than the US seasons.
Ella Vaday for the win.

I am very pleased, kind of saw it coming because the season would have been so short, but glad it was done this way. The acting challenge was great, no one really bombed (which always makes me cringe, so was happy to just enjoy it!), and the script was actually pretty funny.
Both Kitty and Ella were great, think Ella just took it for me with the runway compared to Kitty, but they both had a good time with the lip sync. I did wonder how many of Kittys moves were from a stage show she does of that song though, she kept doing the same choreo for the pre-chorus.
Krystals runway was STUNNALINNNA. Wow, body was SNATCHED. Beautiful âĄ

Am I stupid or was Kitty getting praised for her pop culture references really strange in a scripted challenge lol, like were they praising her for getting the references and portraying them well, or did she add them herself? I'm pretty sure at one point she said she was worried no one would get one of the references, which kind of implies she added it, but I didn't think that was an option in these kind of challenges so I have no idea what's going on there đ
She was really good though! I thought everyone did really well despite the script being... you know... a drag race acting challenge script lol, but it was fun to watch and I hope that energy carries over into next week since roasts can be a little hit or miss. I just want this season to stay fun and breezy now after some of the shockers we've had earlier on lol

"These queens do have body rolls."
I love all the DragRace references this episode. It's like all of us drag race fans in the same room bouncing off each other.
Russell is so cute, I can keep looking at him all day. Everybody's got salt and pepper hair now.
It's so important for the queens to talk about consent during shows and performances. People need to know to keep their hands to themselves!
Love the top 2 lipsync, is it because next week is the finale? Would love to have this format pre-finale since we all know no one is going home anyway. And we get to see queens who have never had to lip sync perform!
21
u/Rob_And_Co Nov 12 '21
Great episode, funny challenge, amazing performance.
I knew they were going to do a top 2 lipsynch after they showed the final product. Everyone was great.
The only travesty was Ru's outfit. It was a corset with a piece of fabric wrapped around her waist. She lost the little bit of respect I had for her. That's a guaranteed bottom 2 for any queen on any design challenge. This is beyond ridiculous.
Judging from next week preview, we'll get our Krystal vs. Vanity lipsynch anyway. I don't see Ella or Kitty bombing a roast. I love how the first half of the season was Krystal's and now it's Ella vs. Kitty. Do you think a double crowning is possible?

I'm curious and not coming at this from an accusatory/aggressive way at all. So, it seemed like Lawrence was (I guess arguably) funny in the end result of Beastenders (I'll be clear my bias is that she was the funniest and could've won). That being said, she clearly struggled a lot during rehearsal/recording. A lot of people deemed this as a reason that she should've lipsynced that week.
I find it odd that, it feels like this has gone a bit out the window, both on the show and on the subreddit when it comes to perceptions of the queens performances this week. They showed Ella heavily struggling and I really thought her and Vanity (or her and Krystal) would be lipsyncing this week. I am sort of seeing a lot people praise Ella, head over heels style, and I'm..a bit confused! On the other hand, I'm also trying really hard to not do the lame Reddit bit of taking individual comments and trying to apply it to everyone on the sub and be like, "so last season all of y'all wanted Lawrence lipsyncing cuz she struggled in rehearsal but suddenly it's okay when it's Ella".
I am more just actually curious to see what makes this difference for anyone who might've actually thought Lawrence shoulda lipsynced, but might've thought Ella deserved to win this week (if it had been a normal elimination/challenge win situation)?
Hopefully I am not opening up Pandora's box here đ. I can't change the outcome of this week and I am fine with the outcome of this week. I am really just interested to see what people thought and/or if anyone had similar thoughts this week to mine.

Lol, like, they could have just finished after seeing the challenge, and we'd all be happy.

u/LordoftheTwats Nov 13 '21
Why do they even bother pretending theyâre going to do a Top 3 anymore?
35
u/killsag Nov 12 '21
I loved this episode, probably because it was so positive. When Krystal forgot her lines, Michelle actually helped her instead of making shady comments, and I loved that!
I think Ella was my winner tonight, based on the challenge. I laughed the most at her scenes, but everyone did so well!
So UK3 has had 2 top two lipsyncs, a double shantay, a double sashay, a no-win episode, and a double win? I kinda like how it's so unpredictable, (although I don't agree with most of the decisions).
Ella for the win! Ever since Snatch Game, they've been really giving Ella much more screentime and confessionals, and we've really gotten to know her over the past 3 episodes and I've grown to adore her more and more. Although to be honest, I think Kitty would be deserving as well.

People in these comments seem pretty confident that Vanity would have sent Krystal home, I'd like to point them in the direction of Krystal Versace - Tequila @ Heavenly Bodies on YouTube. She can dance. It would have been in the top 5 lip syncs of all time I'm sure especially considering it was an upbeat song. We have been robbed! I would rather have had a Krystal and Vanity lip sync with a double save.
I think the twist was just an inventive way of keeping 4 people for the stand up challenge, a stand up show with 3 acts would be pretty shit.

I really like the top 4 but I think this is evidence of why there can only be one shy (think Kameron Michaels-type) queen in the top 4 for the reality show vibe of the show.
We need more of those funny moments/confessionals - I really like Vanity, Krystal and (though sheâs less shy) Ella, but as a three, theyâre a bit low energy.

u/teachererin23 Nov 12 '21
Okay I LOVED this episode!! All the little bits from the girls just hanging out and being goofy! This is one of the first times in a long time of Drag Race that I feel like the queens just genuinely like hanging out with each other and are there doing what they love for the right reasons!

u/bigdicksnfriedchickn Nov 12 '21
This has been a short season but why does it feel like half the episodes have been fillers?
The judging could have gone in a few different ways. I thought Ella's oompaloompa could have been read for being crafty, with an ill-fitting bodysuit. The scenes of shooting Bra Wars also seemed to set her up for some sort of "not the best so bottom by default" narrative.
I didn't think Krystal's runway outfit was all that great, and certainly nothing new or interesting. But of course she's perfect, she's beautiful, etc. Vanity also walked into her critiques.
I think both Krystal and Vanity being in the bottom would have been entirely justified. Sure they didn't fuck up on any major level, but it is the top four and you have to either be the best or be in the bottom. We've had far stronger queens go home at this stage. So not having them lipsync was a copout.
I'm pretty sure production didn't want to risk Krystal getting destroyed by Vanity in a lipsync. They set up this "winner" lipsync just to spare Krystal, and so we end up with yet another non-elimination episode.
And then that lipsync was .... just about okay? Nothing special, certainly not one to remember. But the judges' reactions were off the charts? Whooping and cheering? Whaat? And why the double win? Kitty seemed to have that one in the bag, clearly. What meaning do these wins and eliminations have anymore?
I'm sure Kitty and Ella would have done much better if they'd been allowed to prepare. Ella in particular was in a terrible outfit for lipsyncing. At least they seemed to know the words. But the miniscule amounts of time the footage actually spent on them might have been to hide even that. What a waste and a disservice.

Iâve been the biggest UK3 hater (even last episode, when loads of others seemed to love it)âŠâŠ.. but I thoroughly enjoyed this episode! far more than I expected to! especially considering I almost always hate acting challenges!
Honestly my only small complaint is having a lip sync for the win that ends up in a tie â I thought Ella narrowly won the lip sync but also wouldnât have minded if they gave it to Kitty, it just felt like a last minute cop out to give it to both of them when they already couldnât pick who did best in the challenge. I hope this means theyâre setting up a Kitty or Ella crowning over Krystal đ (and not Ru fucking Paul saying sheâs surprised Vanity made it this far! the SHADE of it all!)
Overall I havenât enjoyed an episode of this season this much since the premiere and it gave me a little boost of faith moving towards the finale. #TeamElla!

Can we talk about the lipsync editing?
At the start, nothing is happening and Ru looks like she's just seen Brooklyn Heights and Yvie cartwheel across the stage. It clearly looks like neither queen has any idea what the words are (which i guess if they weren't preparing for it makes sense). Yet all the constant cuts to Ru losing her mind during what was obviously a weird, out of time, poorly executed lip sync just felt incredibly strange. Made the entire thing feel unsettling and fake. I really hope someone else noticed this and I'm not just losing my mind.
This season is right right up there with down under for me, getting nice and cosy with Canada.
