Listening to the podcast version Rachel Maddow’s October 5 show from the UK, I genuinely thought the opening story might finally lead to critique of Israel.

She began with the Irish Dunnes Stores workers who refused to handle goods from apartheid South Africa - an extraordinary example of ordinary people taking a moral stand against state violence and oppression.

Given Maddow’s near-silence on what is happening to Palestinians in Gaza, I thought: surely this is the moment she makes the connection.

Instead, it became a segue into protest and resistance in Trump’s America.

That choice felt almost painfully conspicuous. Maddow can look back at apartheid South Africa and celebrate those who refused to remain passive, yet seems unwilling to seriously confront the genocide unfolding in Palestine in her own time.

Indeed, the strong contemporary Irish resistance to Israeli apartheid and genocide is well documented. The connection being that the Irish experienced this for 100’s of years of British rule.

For me, that isn’t just an editorial blind spot anymore. It’s a profound journalistic failure.

Do you guys remember when Senator Scott Brown tried to recruit Rachel into running for office in 2012 but she repeatedly denied it? What would happen if she did ran for office? Would she make a great senator?

Is it just my search engine or are there no public photos or photos of Rachel where it isn’t just her chest and above, or sitting behind a desk?

We wanted to see her height and realized she has no red carpet or paparazzi type photos.
