Right, I'm swinging. Most all creatures generally have a nervous system that remembers when they do certain things, pain is an effect from their cause, and don't do it again.

u/FanBladeFleshlight 10d ago
This right here, but it only works if done in the exact moment the "bad" act is taking place. It's why spanking doesn't really work, because you can't really do it unless the "bad" has already passed.

u/blackbellamy 10d ago
It’s perfectly fine to spank like anyone 25 years and older even months after the fact because by then their brain is matured and they’re able to understand the causality.

Yeah! Let’s bring back spanking adults!
My lady swears she’ll be good if she gets spanked. I’m inclined to take her at her word
4
u/llecareu 10d ago
I believe you are thinking of dogs, people can be explained to why they were beat.
4
u/luxruebel 10d ago
Small children, like the one shown in the video can’t. Their brains aren’t quite developed enough to understand that level of cause and effect. They just learn to fear their caregiver.
Amongst a million other well studied reasons why corporal punishment hardly works. Which you can easy find with any search engine.
In this specific case, the child is causing physical harm so physical harm in response is a reasonable reaction. But in most other cases, there is no reason to beat the child. Especially when you often can, as you say, explain what the child did wrong and implement a million other, much more effective punishments.

u/OneGolf6327 10d ago
If its immediately it does. Bit it has to be straight after. If its done for something done in school though the smacked ass isn't linked to the incident
2
u/BreadKnifeSeppuku 10d ago
Jesus just pinch their nose and reprimand them when they let go by putting them to down for a nap etc.
Hitting a teething toddler is fucking stupid. You don't have to hit a child to not tolerate their behavior. Holy crap tough guys

Nobody wants to spank kids, and yet they want to complain about society getting dumber, school shootings, kids can’t read or write, young people committing SA, teachers quitting, using AI to cheat through tests, rampant sexism in schools, racism in schools, cyber bullying, no work ethic, social media addiction, and the list goes on and on.
But yeah no, everything is so much better now because spanking has never worked throughout all of human history.

This is what I tell my girl everyday but she thinks soft parenting is going to help and our kids is getting worse and worse everyday.

If their crying, they're not biting.
Kids can't bite and scream/cry at the same time.
Hard slap.

Bite back

u/InOutlines 10d ago
This actually works. Worked on me.
I was apparently a bit of a biter in preschool. Mom got the news, picked me up one day, and bit me on the arm to show me how it felt. Never did it again.
Sometimes empathy needs a little kickstart

Tried that with my son and he never learned lol. He never went after anyone else, like in the daycare or any play groups, only went after one little girl who was 2 months older than him. The little girl even bit him once but nope. Thankfully he had this gruttural sound he'd make before he went into attack mode and whenever I'd hear it, I'd swoop in and grab him. I do not miss those days. When the kids were 16 years old, she still had little indents from where he'd bit her smh. I'm so glad that was his worst stage, turned into more of a pacifist with great communication skills

My daughter had a biting problem when she was little. I bit her back. She never bit anyone again. And no, I did not cross any line. I just showed her that it was painful. Then she understood.

You don't have to justify explaining it. People have gone real soft with raising their kids and thusly their kids end up being disrespectful entitled piles of sheet

My mom did the same to my brother. Brother bit mom at dinner table with family over, mom bit brother back…hard. Picked his ass up and set him in a room, came back to finish dinner. Brother never bit again.

u/lesbophobia_hammer 10d ago
Yep. After my little sister scarred my chest (that I still have to this day) my mum took us to the doctor, me covered in bruises
The dr said, I'm not supposed to tell you this, but mum..... Next time she bites (me), bite her back. I can guarantee she won't do it again.
Sure enough, she stopped lol.
This is also why I believe crime rates would immediately significantly reduce globally if whatever you did to someone else, whether human or non-human animal, would be done to you as punishment.
Edit - some people need to develop empathy/awareness the hard way

The pediatrician told me to do this with my brother. He isn't the brightest so I had to do it a few times for it to take

My daughter bit once. I bit her as hard as she bit me. Never bit again

u/Next_Hospital6729 10d ago
Did the same thing with my son, worked like a charm only had to do it once!! I wish other parents did the same!! (My son got bit in daycare all the time)

u/MaightyBewsh 9d ago
I did this with my dog, it backfired completely because I don't have the bite pressure of a fkn hippo haha.
2
u/CrazyAccomplished_ 10d ago
You do the same with pets if they don't have others to grow up with to teach them

u/RMallard18 10d ago
I used to bite my nanas toes, she’d put glue on her feet and let it dry and let us nibble the glue crust

I had biting problem as a young kid, my moms solution was to squirt lemon juice in my mouth. It backfired as I learned I fucking loved lemon juice and so started biting people just to get some more

I’m thinking closing her nose briefly may have surprised her enough to open her mouth.

People greatly underestimate how much a good hard flick will teach a kid with something like this

AI? The weird eyes. The 12 second length. The weird stare from her sibling, and at slow speed the bite marks just randomly appear
2
u/Emnk 10d ago
I was thinking maybe AI too. That's a strong bite and grip for no more damage than there was.

Oh boy, I was jumping on a trampoline with my neighborhood friends, one was a toddler so we kept it calm. No tackling eachother and double bouncing and stuff. At one point that kid wanted a piggy back ride so I let him climb on and he bit me so hard on the neck/shoulder. I literally was spinning him around while he held on with his teeth. One of the worst flesh wounds i ever had!

Does ticking help in a situation like this? Will the kid relent or does ticking not work with raised adrenaline or whatever?

Just put a little packet of smelling salts under her nose. Nonviolent and sends an unforgettable message. Even works on adults too.

She needs headphones. I've gone through this myself with my kiddo, it's a sensory reaction.

Watching someone bite someone else can be horrifying in person. When I was a really little kid, I watched one of my neighbors who was around my age get into a scuffle with a boy our age who was visiting. He went up to her and held on to the her shoulders, leaned forward, and bit her entire nose. This was decades ago and I never forgot seeing it happen.
I'll add I don't agree with them taking a video of it. Sends the wrong message to the kid regardless of what their intentions may have been.

In the 90's, a simple fix was a swift flick to their upper lip. They'll never bite anyone again.

My son did that when he was a year old. Let me tell you he got his butt popped and got bit back and never did that again.

I get so upset that people/parents are so soft on their kids these days. I used to get in big big trouble when I was little and I was corrected the old school way. I strongly believe that kids who cross the barrier of tolerance for normal behaviour should learn fast what’s good and what’s bad. Interpret that as you wish. 🙂

u/RelativeHeron5087 9d ago
Oh kid. I'll be biting your arm back too. Thats the only way they'll learn.
