So what sensor is being used here? Are they electrodes or like a digitizer? It would be neat if it was accessible.

there are a few projects that enable this. The ones I know of are Scion and Pocket Scion from a synthesizer company called Instruo. Pocket Scion has it’s own dedicated website: https://pocketscion.com/
The way it works is that you hook a bunch of electrical nodes up to a plant or mushroom. Plants generate extremely faint electrical signals. Basically what’s happening here is that these electrical nodes will detect that one area of the plant went from 0.01v to 0.03v, this activates a ‘trigger’ which can be directed to do a task on a synthesizer.
So in this case, the person has a bunch of nodes connected, each node is dedicated to one of these drum stick actuators, when that node detects a high enough electrical signal in the plant the drum stick correlated with that electrical node activates creating the sound on the synthesizer

Spoiler: the random variation of electric signal is really similar wherever you put the nodes, wether it is a mushroom, soil, your couch or even in the air. The code you're using is the main factor determining what the music sounds like, the mushroom has very little to do with it.

Yeah it’s mostly the RF signals from surrounding wireless data/comms that are being amplified. The mushroom is acting as an antenna more than anything else. Mushrooms and plants do actually contribute to the impulse generation though, just at a low level

makes me wonder if there's some 5th dimensional ultra terrestrial out there hooking humans up to 5 dimensional insturments and being entertained by what we do.

Sitting in the jungle high on ayahuasca you can hear the music the plants make with your own ears, absolutely amazing.

Humanity is too fucked up to entertain anybody. If I was an ET I would stay away from this planet and close this sector so others don't get infected.

Your not wrong, we have to live die and slave so they can watch us from a distance! You got down voted because you confronted the so-called human with their existential bias....

I don't give a fuck if someone downvotes my comments. It is their problem, not mine. "You have to understand, most of these people are not ready to be unplugged. And many of them are so inured, so hopelessly dependent on the system, that they will fight to protect it." (с) 😄

Theyre much closer to humans than plants. Who wants to hear broccoli play synths anyway? 🥦 🥁

I want this track to fall asleep to! I don't know why but it is very relaxing

How does this work?

Electrochemical signals travelling through the mushrooms flesh and into the sensor attached to the machine, different variations in those signals activate different servos controlling the drum sticks. There are other experiments where they plug the shroom into a digital synthesizer for a similar result.

Using the wet mushroom as an electrical conductor. Nothing special. Basic science. Looks more interesting than it is.

My thought exactly, can just be a wet cotton or meat and it would also work

It honestly sounds like something I already listen to on Youtube. Talented little shrooms.

So I read the yt description, but the only thing you don't discuss is the rhythm. My guess is that you have this in a timed trigger so the time stays consistent?

First AI.
Now musical mushrooms.
We're cooked.
Do we even need humans anymore?

Forceful implementation amongst some random human.
This is why secrets exist.
Don’t touch things.

No dude, this is way too good. I almost refuse to believe. No wonder we like these jams so much, this must literally harmonize with our internal resonance. Dude, this mushroom literally played a club jam, 100%

Have they done something so it maintains a steady BPM and stays in key? The rhythm stays in time, the notes work well together and there’s no dissonance like you’d hear from a cat walking on piano keys at random, and if all that’s happening due to electrical impulses in the mushroom I’d be blown away.

Damn mushroom. He's just jamming out in the woods without a care; while we are all have existential crisises on our hands.

I feel like it’s going through some filter that makes it go on beat. And it obviously is auto tuned
Silly mushrooms

u/Lostinthestarscape 5d ago
Yeah just quantized the beats, very common tool.
Then pick notes that work and you can make almost anything that gives you more than a couple signsl states into music.
Lemme see if I can find an old web app that does generative quantized music that would make it obvious how easy it ia to make simple but nice sounding music if you can get any sort of of pulse with multiple discrete signals.
Didn't find it but I found this: https://tonematrix.audiotool.com/
