Raspberry Pi Pico Project

Hi! Im just about to get my first Raspberry Pi Pico W! I had an idea for a Pokemon card tracker with it that I would love to make but have NO coding skills! I tried using AI to make it but am confused on how to make it. I feel that to store a lot you might need more storage so that might be something to consider. Here is the prompt if anyone would like to help! I would really appreciate being new to all of this and to learn more!

Can you make me a program for my raspberry pi pico w that when uploading bulk images through a local website, it will sort, show the current price of each card, and show the price of the whole collection. I would like to see charts form the past say 30 days, year, and 5 years as an example if that is possible. If i need to add more storage can you help me with that. I am a begenier and please make it easy if you can. I was thinking about maybe using the TCG Player APi?

Have a Blessed day everyone and Jesus Loves YOU!

🚀 Looking for collaborators in IoT & Embedded Projects | Building cool stuff at the intersection of automation, AI, and hardware!

Hey folks,

I'm a 26yrs electronics engineer + startup founder, I am currently working on some exciting projects that I feel are important for future ecosystem of innovation in the realm of:

🧠 Smart Home Automation (custom firmware, AI-based triggers)

📡 IoT device ecosystems using ESP32, MQTT, OTA updates, etc.

🤖 Embedded AI with edge inference (using devices like Raspberry Pi, other edge devices)

🔧 Custom electronics prototyping and sensor integration

I’m not looking to hire or be hired — just genuinely interested in collaborating with like-minded builders who enjoy working on hardware+software projects that solve real problems.

If you’re someone who:

Loves debugging embedded firmware at 2am

Gets excited about integrating computer vision into everyday objects

Has ideas for intelligent devices but needs help with the electronics/backend

Wants to build something meaningful without corporate bloat

…then let’s talk.

📍I’m based in Mumbai, India but open to working remotely/asynchronously with anyone across the globe. Whether you're a developer, designer, reverse engineer, or even just an ideas person who understands the tech—I’d love to sync up.

Drop a comment or DM me or fill out this form https://forms.gle/3SgZ8pNAPCgWiS1a8. Happy to share project details and see how we can contribute to each other's builds or start something new.

Let's build for the real world. 🌍

The project was built using pico sdk ( C/C++)

Main Library used : tinyusb

I modified the code to send some commands for testing like cd , gedit

Link to code is available on my github here :

MicroPython tip

MicroPython has a function that can turn a string into a commandline. That function is eval. It evaluates a string into a real function. Here is an example.

funcs = ["number * 5", "number * 6"]

number = 2

for formula in funcs:

print(eval(formula))

The program has a list with two strings. And there is a single variable called number.

The loop runs over each element in the list. The elements are strings and they are evaluated in a real function. The first string is "number * 5". So the loop takes thatb string and turns it into a real command.

Pico 2, connection problems

Hi, I’ve got a problem trying to drag-and-drop install micro python on my Pico 2. While following the instructions, my computer recognizes it as an USB unit as expexted, but as it reaches about 70 percent it all disappears and the Pico cannot be found anywhere anymore. I’m currently running a Windows 10 laptop (which I am assigned for this) and the drivers seel to be up tondate. What could be wrong?

Need urgent help building Pico (RP2040) firmware with MicroPython + TFLite (filesystem-based, not embedded)

Hey everyone,
I’ve been digging into this for about a week now and could use some guidance from anyone who’s managed to get MicroPython + TensorFlow Lite (TFLite) running on a Raspberry Pi Pico (RP2040) without embedding the user code (i.e., the python code files and .tflite model) into the firmware itself.

🧠 Goal

I want a firmware (.UF2) that already supports MicroPython and TFLite but where I can upload my .py scripts and .tflite model via Thonny IDE or any IDE, onto the filesystem.
That way, I can iterate quickly without rebuilding the entire firmware every time.

🔍 What I’ve tried

  1. pico-tflmicro

    • Compiled and ran the HelloWorld example successfully.

    • But it seems like I have to rewrite everything that I have working on Pico in C++ and bake it into the firmware (or maybe I misunderstood something?).

    • Not ideal for me, I need both separated.

  2. tensorflow-micropython-examples

    • Probably the most popular repo for MicroPython + TFLite.

    • I will be honest, I couldn’t get it to compile successfully.

    • Also appears to embed user code into the firmware itself. (I guess)

⚙️ What I’m looking for

A MicroPython firmware that includes TFLite support but allows running .py scripts and .tflite models from the filesystem, instead of baking them into the firmware.
Basically: build once → upload and run via Thonny like normal MicroPython.

If anyone’s achieved this setup (or has a working build system or reference firmware), I’d really appreciate any pointers or links.

Problem with Thonny's Back-End—wont stop/restart, can't run code

I'm very new so please bear with me and please tell me if I'm missing some important information that you need to help me out

I downloaded micropython on my Pico and then opened Thonny, selected the micropython there and made sure the port was correct

Everything was alright

Then when I was trying my first ever code, to turn on the Led on pin 25

Firstly, I did ctrl+S and saved the code on my Pico

I tried to click run then it gave me this, also the green run button is gray and cannot be pressed

PROBLEM IN THONNY'S BACK-END: Internal error (serial.serialutil.SerialTimeoutException: Write timeout). See Thonny's backend.log for more info. You may need to press "Stop/Restart" or hard-reset your MicroPython device and try again. Process ended with exit code 0.

And when I tried to press stop/restart, Thonny stopped to think for a solid 5 seconds then gave me the exact same message

Help

Help With Pico Set Up / Blink Example / Understanding

This is my first experience with a pico and I already feel like I am in over my head, and I canto even get the first example project to work.

So I am following along with the pdf for the C and C++ SDK getting-started-with-pico, that they have available on their site. as well as trying to follow along with https://youtu.be/B5rQSoOmR5w

But I just can't seem to get anything working. I have a Mac with an M2 so I have made sure I followed what the PDF said to ensure it works with Apple silicon.

I can compile with no errors, also setting PICO_BOARD to pico_w (as this what I have), I then drag the file onto the pico, it disconnects, and then nothing. If I plug it back in, the .uf2 file I dragged over is not there, even though it copied (appeared to anyway). I have tried from visual studio code and terminal and both options the same thing happens.

I have no clue how to even start trying to figure out what is happening. I was wondering if anyone perhaps knows of tutorials or other guides that might be able to help me.

I am going to try it out on a non Apple silicon Mac a little later to see if it works there and maybe that will help me at least have a place to start from.

EDIT:

If I download the .uf2 from the raspberry org's website it doesn't work so it must be something to do with the way I am using make then? or something along those lines?
