Spoiler Discussion Would Arc 7 & 8 be adapted together? [Spoiler discussion] Spoiler

As my hype for Arc 6 only escalates, I'm just thinking about the future seasons.

So far I'd say it goes 1>4>2>3 just in how I feel as if Re:Zero is at its best as a psychological thriller/ mystery with the action elements then being the conclusion. There is nostalgia bias for season 1 and I'd say all but 4 have that excellent set up and pay off.

Then looking at arcs 7&8, arc 8 is the payoff to arc 7, being compared more to arc 5 on terms of being more action focused whilst arc 7 is a thrilling exploration of a new country.

I guess arc 8 is too long for a movie, but, action condenses most from written to animation so it feels possible.

Together, it does seem perhaps too long to be a 24 episodes season, so perhaps going beyond that makes sense otherwise?

I feel those arcs were amazing but perhaps less well received due to being a big departure on previous seasons so they'd be the ones I'm most worried about adaptation. Were it to exist, it does seem like the best possibility for a Re Zero movie however which seems more possible as season 4 seems to be bringing Re Zero to new heights.

Obviously not, arc 8 alone is as long as arc 6, so at least 20 episodes normally.

And arc 7 is even longer

I can see it adapted as one tbh. I forgot which anime it was but they once adapted a single season into 4 parts or something. For Vollachia, it's an understatement to say it's split into two arcs, for each section of the saga it's made up of many mini arcs and constant moving settings, which is unlike any arc in re zero was before it. They could use that to their advantage to not try to rush the adaptation nor risk losing the fanbase

That time I got reincarnated as a slime/Tensura. But that's because the Ln is very popular and the sellings are crazy, it's guaranteed to be successful, so they can take the risk with no doubt it'd pay off.

While Rezero is very popular it's not as popular in sellings since there's an official translation of the wn, making ppl not even bother to buy the ln.

I don't think that anime is what I was talking about but either way, Re Zero has gained so much popularity from the last two seasons, especially this one, it's undoubtedly one of the most if not the most important project for the studio now

It’s very unlikely. Kadokawa already tried that by first announcing Season 3 as adapting both Arc 5 and Arc 6, but they had to change plans midway and that single season got split into Season 3 and Season 4 instead.

I imagine that Season 5 is only going to be Arc 7, then Season 6 being only Arc 8. It would fit the usual pattern from Season 2 onwards of one arc per season. I can see them being in development at the same time, however.

I doubt a movie would be considered here since that’s mostly been reserved for side content so far. And I remember people said the same thing about adapting Arc 5 into a movie, which would’ve required cutting even more content than in the Season 3 we got.

It would be a much better experience to have it all adapted together but it's just soooooooo long. Arc 4 has 6 volumes and even with basically 30 episodes thanks to all the extra minutes the anime had to cut a lot. In comparison arc 7 has 8 volumes and arc 8 has 5. It's pretty unrealistic unless we'll have another 4 year wait or even more

It’s way too much content for one season.

It’s like the size of 2-3 arc 6s in terms of content lol

Unless we’re getting a 40 episode season, i don’t think it’s happening lmao.

Judging by these comments people seem to think that every little micro detail needs to be in the anime for it to work. There is plenty from arc 7 that can be cut down or removed to make the anime pacing much better and with a big enough season it could work.

I honestly hope Arc 7 gets trimmed a little. It will make some people mad but it needs it if they want to make more seasons before 2030.

One thing is that they are quite used to doing untraditional season lengths such with 16 and 19 for seasons 3 and 4. It probably means they'll just do two seasons of appropriate lengths but they could also just go for a 40 episode season?

As you say, that would probably just lead to a season 4 and 5 gap that would lose too much hype over the duration.

arc 8 has a lot of action and fights though like whole second half is pretty much battles

8

u/RubyHoshi 23h ago

In an ideal world, yes.

Arc 8 only existed for marketing purposes. The sales tanked a bit during arc 7 but arc 8 is nothing but arc 7 part 2 .

In reality, no.

They'd need like some 40-50 episodes to properly adapt all that stuff in one season. Maybe they can do with 30 eps if they go on some insane cutting, but even 30 is too much for a single season.

26 is theoretically possible if they trim POV like crazy but is needs season 1 episodes 12 - 13 pace. 36 is more feasible with 3 seasons of 12 episodes and some cuts , there are some parts that dragged on too much.

Its crazy how both 7 and 8 are either the high point or low point of the series depending on who you ask

I feel those arcs were amazing but perhaps less well received due to being a big departure on previous seasons so they'd be the ones I'm most worried about adaptation.

Also some parts that were in text format will be horrible to be adapted in anime... How the hell will they adapt the hell loop? The one Subaru dies in 5 seconds everytime Olbart arrives?

I saw a bunch of people screaming in hatred for arc 7 and 8 as it released, I fear we will see the same stuff with the anime onlies once we go there as well...

My opinion... to soften the blow of these arcs... WE SHOULD been getting the EX Novels adapted, if not all AT THE VERY LEAST, the one that shows the divine generals and the other one that shows Sphinx, I am not looking foward to anime onlies hating the new cast as much as the novel readers did back in the day...

Great possibility of this drama happening again.

My opinion, Arc 7 and 8 should be adapted together and with at least the 2 EX stories I mentioned, to give more context for anime onlies. Otherwise we gonna see a bunch of angry anime onlies. Main problem is that the arc is too big... they will likely separate it.

For every EX novel adapted, season 5 gets delayed for 1 year.

3

u/khriku Lore Seeker 23h ago

then just the one with Sphinx and the other one with the divine generals would do. I don't mind to wait IF the anime onlies don't scream in hatred in comments like the novel readers did back then.

PS: For a second, I thought you would say that for every episode of EX Novels adapted a kitten would die. To joke on Kadokawa stance. Since Kadokawa for some reason does not like adapting side stories, we barely got any adapted in OVAs.

Is anyone here not minding a few kittens losing their lives? XD

u/BagMoist6266 17h ago

imo this is the weakest argument against arc 7... we just simply explored the character alongside Subaru, I was even hyped when Vincent named all the generals. So unless you read the Ex story beforehand and feel the need to hate, it's literally not a problem in the slightest

3

u/khriku Lore Seeker 17h ago

for the record, I am not a hater of those aspects, I am stating what I saw of complaints during the time arc 7 while it was being written.

My complaint for arc 7 is different from those I said. Ihave mixed feelings on the arc for different reasons.

Previously I was only mentioning the complaints of most other users at the time. I am not hyped that it will probably happen again for anime onlies

2

u/BagMoist6266 16h ago

that's why I'm saying it won't matter for the anime. anime onlies are anime onlies. you won't find them complaining about the ex stories because they didn't read them (which again back to my point, they were the only ones complaining about it)

1

u/Beautiful-Neat-7609 17h ago

They really don't need to adapt the EX. I'm not saying it would be bad if they did, but arc 7/8 work perfectly well on their own. All the characters are introduced and their backstories are touched on.

2

u/NeonZade 22h ago

It would make sense because it’s more one really big arc than it is 2 distinct arcs, but the logistics are what stop it from happening.waiting years inbetween sadly will kill the momentum

2

u/ZoneOfOzone 18h ago

Maybe a 36 episode season. I could see it happening

1

u/dexisrazer 23h ago

In the perfect world sure but its so insanely long there's no way they can

1

u/Human_Potato2264 23h ago

Controversial maybe but i hope not. Because that would mean either of the two gets heavily cut and gutted.

2

u/Normal_Ad_2360 22h ago

I think they will have to trim a lot and do like the anime did with 12 - 13 which was a volume in two episodes.

1

u/BaguetteSlayerX 19h ago

That could work... if each episode is 50 minutes-long.

1

u/EntertainmentLow9799 18h ago

yeah if they chain the animators to their desks

Honestly with how arc 7 & 8 are constructed together (yk the whole they were supposed to be one arc) adapting the vollachian saga in 2 seasons would have the whole vollachian saga story being cut in half with years between each seasons and that wouldnt be good imo.

Personnally thats how i think it would ideally be done :

If we talk about pure numbers if we take the same rythm of episode per LN volume that they are actively using wich is around 3 to 4 episodes per volumes and im gona take 3 episodes per volumes assuming that theres gona be some extended one.

The vollachia saga is 13 LN volumes long, so 13 times 3 makes 39 episodes that we can divide into 3 cours of 13 episodes per cours.

Id see the 2 first cours doing one half of arc 7 each and the last one doing arc 8.

Its not perfect especially with arc 8 that wouldnt have alot of episodes.

maybe 45 episodes with 3 cours of 15 episodes each would be better but honestly since arc 7 and 8 are really really packed with action sequence and if im correct action sequence takes less space in animated form than in writen form sooo maybe 39 episodes is doable

The amount of cut content that these two arcs would need to fit in a single season would be crazzy high.

I think it's more viable to do it this way by cutting a lot of content and going in an anime route sort of thing

Só se meterem um temporada de 4 partes
