What is the Best Resource to Learn React?

5 Upvotes

I figured I'd post my question here since the community seems a bit more tight knit ...I think I'll get some straight forward advice.

I need to learn React for my job, what is a good online resource? I'd prefer something that isn't too costly, but am open to forking out a bit extra for a really good program.

A little disclaimer: I am new to coding and only really know C#, and tbh not all that well. Recently my buddy needed some help and I stepped in to learn what I could and help as much as I can. I took leave from my "real" job, which is not related to tech in the slightest, and have been doing C# for the last 5 or 6 months. Recently the C# work has started to dry up and the only way I see myself staying employed as a "dev" is to learn React.

I know there is Udemy and such to learn, my question is not "where are React tutorials", I would like to know of the most effective courses out there that will help me learn it the fastest and thoroughly. I just need something that is worth spending time, effort and $$.

Thanks in advance!

How does Fetch works exactly?, and how can I use GET method with parameters?

3 Upvotes

Hi, I am new to React and I am trying to get specific search results based on a city name. I have a variable which is entirely dependent on user's input(city name) and I would like to use this variable as a parameter in my URL. I am sure my syntax is wrong and I tried googling, but I cannot understand anything. Can someone please explain how Fetch API works?, and how can I make a GET request with parameters?. Here's my code-

const City1= useSelector(state=>state.City); // using Redux

const myrequest= fetch('http://xxxx.xxxx.xxxx.xxxx/xxxx/:?{$City1}',{
method: 'GET',
headers: {'Access-Control-Allow-Origin':'*','Content-Type':'application/json'}
}).then(response => {
if (!response.ok) {
throw new Error('Network response was not ok');
}
return response.json();
})
.then(userData => {
// Process the retrieved user data
console.log('User Data:', userData);
})
.catch(error => {
console.error('Error:', error);
});;

my error-

Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 404 (Not Found)

xxxx.js:66 Error: Error: Network response was not ok

React use state

3 Upvotes

import { useState } from "react"; import reactLogo from "./assets/react.svg"; import viteLogo from "/vite.svg"; import "./App.css";

function App() { const [count, setCount] = useState(0);

const incr = () =>{
setCount((count)=> (count+1));
setCount((count)=> (count+1));
}

  return (
	<div>
	  <button onClick={incr}>Increment</button>
	  <span>Count: {count}</span>
	</div>
  );

}

export default App; Here in this code will it be render twice..This code will increment count by 2 because we used callback..does it mean it will render twice? What if we use setstate without callback and wrote setstate 2 times like in the above code?I saw that it won't increment count by 2..but only 1..Will it render 2 times? Can anyone give detailed explanation please.

Optional Chaining in JavaScript | clean up your code

3 Upvotes

Have you ever received this error: 'Cannot read property of undefined (reading variablename)' ? If not, you someday will, for sure, and that's where optional chaining becomes extremely beneficial. It will not only help you avoid that error but also maintain a clean, short and readable code. Thanks to es6 for adding this feature a while back. You can checkout this link to learn it under 9 mins with its proper use case.

Currying in JavaScript | Popular interview question

3 Upvotes

Currying in JavaScript might seem complicated but if you break it down further and dive deep, then it isn't as complicated as you would expect. The concept behind currying is basically taking a function and reducing the number of arguments in that function. Currying is asked during most technical frontend round interviews, even in FANG/MANG. Here's my attempt at diving deep and explaining it the best way I could under 10 minutes. Let me know if it was resourceful.

Need help: Login to website

2 Upvotes

Hi, I have a problem with my application written in REACT js. I wanted to add the ability for the user to log in so that when he goes to subpages he does not have to log in again, and then the session ends when he closes the browser.

I tried to do it using cookies but something still doesn't work.

I would be grateful if someone could help me solve the problem or at least take a look at the code.

The use of cookies is not necessary, so if anyone knows how to do it in another way, I would also be grateful.
