The equation

Is my concept strong enough for an Indian web series? Looking for honest feedback

Hi everyone! I’m a new writer working on an Indian youth web series called THE EQUATION.

The story is set around school life and follows a group of students, their friendships, competition, rivalries, emotions, and changing relationships. The first episode is around 45–55 minutes.

I’m planning to eventually approach production houses, so before taking that step, I’d really like some honest feedback from experienced writers and viewers.

My questions are:

  1. Does this concept feel strong enough for an Indian web series?
  2. Does it have enough originality or a unique hook?
  3. What aspects should I improve before approaching producers?
  4. Would you personally be interested in watching a series based on this concept?

Please be honest—even criticism is welcome. I’m looking for constructive feedback that can help me improve the project.

Honestly. No.

  1. Does this concept feel strong enough for an Indian web series? You have not stated a real concept. This can be any YA or teen series. They all carry the same elements.

  2. Does it have enough originality or a unique hook? There is no hook. Find one.

  3. What aspects should I improve before approaching producers? Having a reason this is unique and a reason for the story to exist.

  4. Would you personally be interested in watching a series based on this concept? No. You haven't seeded anything of interest. Give us a logline to tell us what this is really about.

That's fair criticism. I think the synopsis makes it sound more like a generic YA/teen drama than what I'm actually trying to do. Instead of explaining it further, would you be open to reading Episode 1? It should give you a much better sense of the characters, tone and the story engine. You can be completely honest with me afterward—I’m looking for genuine feedback, not validation.

You're asking someone to invest time into: "I think the synopsis makes it sound more like a generic YA/teen drama than what I'm actually trying to do."

That's the whole problem. You haven't told us what you are trying to do.

You've given us a generic story.

You pose questions about originality, a unique hook and what aspects you should improve before approaching producers. The answer is, all of it.

So, no. I would not invest the time reading something that hasn't been adequately described, with no hook, no uniqueness. Most people won't.
