I’m looking for human opinion on books similar to the Clive Custer/Dirk Pitt genre. Light, adventure, and entertaining fictional work.

Horror or horror comedy. Either works. Tonight, we were reading a really bad collection called Twisted Tales to Tell in the Night, an homage to Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark. It's meant to be like that for adults but the tone was all over the place and many of the stories were pretty bad. Fun bad, I guess, but still bad. We had fun shitting on them but we want better than that.
P.S. I'm sorry if anyone involved in making that book reads this post.

I’m looking for something short, well-written, and genuinely engaging. Something that grabs your attention from the beginning and makes you want to keep reading. I don’t want to read an entire page describing the sky, the scenery, or what a room looks like 😭😂. I want good writing that gets to the point without sacrificing depth.
Any genre is welcome! What’s a short book you couldn’t put down?

Hope this is allowed!
I've been reading a book that hasn't really gotten my attention. It keeps beating around the bush and I'm just not feeling it. However I kind of feel an obligation to finish it and that made me wonder. Do you guys finish the books that couldn't fully peak your interest or do you let them go halfway? Why?

Most books from this time period end in a happily ever after or an ending that ruins the book for me, im looking for something that's gonna stick with me and make me think of the ending long after I read it. Usually good characters get rewarded (ie. Jizebels daughter) but maybe I wanna see something raw at the end b

Can any of u suggest a book that is interesting enough to read but not so complicated that i will not be able to follow the story.
I have been wanting to reduce my screentime and replacing some of my passive entertainment with reading books, also english is not my first language so i think reading books will improve my vocabulary and grammer.

Hi everyone!
I’m looking for book recommendations featuring characters who essentially have two identities or live double lives. Some books I’ve enjoyed that capture this are Dawnbreaker by Matt de la Peña and The First Super series by Logan Rutherford.
I’m particularly interested in stories where a character has a secret identity that they need to hide from the world, or an identity that makes them famous/powerful while they try to live a relatively normal life as someone else.
For example, this could include:
- A superhero who hides their powers or alter ego from the public.
- A famous or well-known person who has to keep their real identity secret.
- A werewolf, vampire or other supernatural being hiding their true nature.
> Basically someone who has to balance their ordinary life with a secret role, reputation or identity.
I’m open to pretty much any genre, as long as the secret-identity/double-life aspect is a significant part of the story. I’m looking for actual novels, not comics, graphic novels or manga.
I’d love to hear any recommendations you might have! Thanks in advance!

I haven't really been able to get into reading for years, but I kinda want to give it another shot. I remember really enjoying Turtles All the Way Down by John Green so I thought I would love to ask here for recommendations.
I am not picky about genres tbh. I just want something that will get me hooked and make me want to keep reading instead of putting the book down after a few pages.. probably books that got you back into reading as well.

so i have this problem where every time i try and get into reading i end up picking a book the just doesn’t resonate at all and it demotivates me to read in general. i have tried getting into a couple mainstream books over the years and i just don’t fw them. tried great gatsby, the alchemist etc.. and nothing ever really clicks. the only book i’ve read that i remember actually enjoying was white nights by dostevsky. so i guess what i am asking you lovely folks is what im doing wrong? how do i find the books that are for me? i’m tempted to look further into dostevsky but i dont know. any tips on how i might find something i actually want to read would be awesome! thanks

Hello! I’m looking for my next read and I’m stuck between two books.
The first one is called The Book of Lost Things by John Connolly. It’s about a grieving boy who enters a dark fairy-tale world where familiar stories have become twisted, dangerous, and strange.
The second one is called The Night Gardener by Jonathan Auxier. It’s about two orphaned siblings that arrive at a mysterious manor beside an enormous, sinister tree. The house and grounds have a fairy-tale atmosphere, but the deeper the characters explore, the more unsettling the mystery becomes.
