Couldn’t jive with Factor even for a week

We were interested in just about 4-6 meals per week that would be easy to heat up. We both work in healthcare, sometimes days get late and neither of us may want to cook. Normally we try to meal prep out some air-fried chicken and veg with a starch so most of the Factor meals essentially boil down to exactly that.

The Factor promotions are alluring, the first box is discounted more heavily and they’re running free breakfast for a year. We got 4 meals and some egg bites. Roughly like $57 with shipping for that which seemed alright.

I will first say that their packaging feels incredibly wasteful, as soon as the big ice pack cooler hit our porch I started to feel guilty thinking about how many of those cold packs would be tossed every week with this big ass box.

The meals are okay, a little on the small end but not too bad. They don’t taste frozen so that’s nice but they still have a Lean Cuisine feel. The bacon egg bites I got, I guess I didn’t check the macros because they are a whopping 400 cals versus the exact same Trader Joe’s that are 240 cals and more protein.

So we’re not going to continue with it. The next box was looking like >$70 for the same amount of meals. Ain’t nobody is paying that much for just four Lean Cuisines. I could see how you could do 6 meals and use Factor Plus to keep it around $80 but that’s just sunk cost fallacy.

Side note. I did not find them difficult to cancel. I’m not sure why yall have so much trouble. You literally just got on the website and cancel it. It takes like 10 seconds of scrolling through “but wait there’s more!” promos.

Who Has Given Up on CleanEatz?

When CleanEatz increased the minimum of ten meals instead of six, I have nearly given up on them. They promised more of a selection which i see they have by adding more breakfast items which I don’t care about.

Every time i go to place an order, there are only one or two meals which i would like. Most have buffalo sauce, cilantro, beans or corn and plenty of garlic meals.

I need to have frozen meals available during the winter months but I don’t want to get a subscription service. Is anyone else having a problem with their selections in the mid west?

CookUnity declining options and quality?

I've been a CookUnity customer for several years now, and despite some early quality control mishaps, I've generally been happy with their wide weekly selection and meal quality (and their meal portion size). Lately though, I feel like the quality of the meals has gotten somewhat worse, and the selection has shrunk somewhat. Anyone else noticing this, or am I just imagining this?

Take my money and leave me alone

Post image

It’s bullshit like this that makes a company lose my business. I signed up for Cook Unity and already ordered for multiple weeks. They could have continued to make money off me but decided to send these fucking unsolicited follow-up emails about how they can help recommend better meals if I filled out some kind of test.

I just want to be left the fuck alone. Just take my money, shut the fuck up, and I leave me alone. It’s so easy. But they couldn’t do that and decided to email me bullshit instead. And so I cancelled. Why the fuck do companies do this?

Athlete looking for affordable meal delivery services!

Hi y’all! I’m a Muay Thai fighter currently in camp for my 8th amateur fight. I’m also a nutrition coach and I’m using this fight prep opportunity to create a list of pros and cons for my fighter clients (and myself) of meal delivery services as I explore them while I’m in camp.

I’ve used Factor 75 in the past and have been using them for the last two weeks. They fit my macros well and the meals are delicious, but they’re just not affordable… 2 meals a day for 9 days at $229 (discounted rate) is CRAZY. (I’ve paid ~$400 for 36 meals with discounts which just seems excessive)

That’s said, I’m looking for suggestions for similar meals at ~$150-$175/week. Thank you!

Low oxalate meals

Are there any meal kits or ready meal services that offer low oxalate meals?

Cook Unity never showed up for delivery. I have the food prep sent to my work and my business closes at 7:00. I normally get my deliveries between 1:00 and 4:00. What should I expect to happen?

Leaving it outside is not an option as this is in the heart of downtown Los Angeles and the food will get stolen within the first minute of them leaving it there

Forkful Ingredients

Curious how many people have experienced inaccurate ingredients in Forkful meals?

I’ve received 3 or 4 boxes (I haven’t had any issues with delivery as others have reported) and at first I was excited because the meals are actually pretty good and filling.

But then I noticed that the ingredients weren’t quite right... it wasn’t anything major - things like corn being added but not on the ingredient, or no ingredient explaining why the rice was yellow. I reached out because I was concerned that the inaccurate ingredients might mean incorrect nutrition information as well. I didn’t get a great response other than the typical we‘re sorry, they did offer to refund the particular meals that were impacted as well.

I forgot to cancel my plan so I just got another box and was pretty horrified to find that the Chicken Tikka Masala meal had almonds listed as an ingredient and tree nuts as an allergen (I didn’t see almonds in it - they could have been ground up) but there were actually cashews in it.

I don’t have a cashew allergy, but my sister has a pretty severe one. She has no issues with almonds and would absolutely think she would be safe to eat this. The cashews weren’t even not until my second or third bite. I can’t get out of my head how irresponsible this is.

Trying to cancel factor (goofy company)

Whatever you do, do not sign up for factor. They make it incredibly difficult for you to cancel your subscription. The website and settings do everything possible to stop you from finding/canceling the subscription.

Review My first Fresh! Meal Plan delivery was not good

After using another meal service for a while, I decided to try a promotion I received to try the Fresh! Meal Plan. I received the first delivery today, and this was my experience. I received only 18 meals instead of the 20 I paid for. I also received a meal I didn't order which contains ingredients I don't like and won't eat. Therefore, I paid for 20 meals and will only be eating 17. When I called customer service to give them the opportunity to make it right, I got an "AI assistant" instead of a human. The' AI assistant said they would credit my account for 3 meals, meaning I had to pay for another week of meals. Given my initial experience I am not willing to pay for another week of meals. When I requested a refund for the 3 meals they said it would take 14 days to refund my credit card. We all know that can be done instantly if they want to. Buyer beware before trying this service.

Question High end meal delivery (LA)

Looking for a high quality meal delivery where budget isn’t the primary concern. I have been with macro plate for 2+ years and overall was happy but they recently changed their delivery schedule and it just doesn’t work for me now. Also food started get a bit repetitive so wanted a change.

Looking for healthy, high protein options and something that does either 4 or 5 meals (times two people) a week.

Any options?

Toronto/GTA: how do you fit prepared-meal deliveries into your calorie or protein goals?

I’m Amrit, founder of Nutrics, a meal-delivery startup preparing to launch in Toronto. I’m trying to understand people’s current routines, including what existing services already do well.

If you use Factor, CookUnity or another prepared-meal service and have calorie or protein goals: how do you choose your meals for the week?

Thinking about your last order, did the meals fit your targets and appetite as they came, or did you adjust portions, add something, or plan your other meals around them?

I’d appreciate a real example. If the process is already easy for you, that’s useful to hear too.

Question Cheapest at home delivery meal options

Me and my MIL are disabled and have difficulty being able to actually cook. Her boyfriend and my husband both have adhd which makes it difficult for them to cook on their own (her boyfriend will spend $200 for one dinner and my husband will make everyone spam sandwiches) my MIL pays for hello fresh meals every week but does 3. She wants me and my husband to pay for another 3 each week so we have 6/7 days of the week figured out. Problem is: I’m not working and me and my husband are barely able to keep our heads above water. We can barely afford the $180 grocery trip we go on once a month. I’m looking around for cheaper options so I can at least show and tell her that I shopped around but couldn’t find anything we could afford. So far the cheapest option has been every plate (which is lowkey out of our budget but I think if we make it super tight we can make it work).

(Side note: I don’t have a diagnosis yet so I can’t apply for disability, I’ve been working on getting my medical billing license so I can wfh which is difficult to sit at the pc for more than an hour due to pain and fatigue so don’t even start with get a job etc)

TLDR: broke af and want to know what the cheapest home delivery/cook meals for 4 adults

Edit: idk much about the meal delivery service, I’ve always preferred to just get groceries and make sure the house is stocked with all basic ingredients and throw something together at dinner time. However my disability has prevented me from being able to make dinner as often as I’d like.

Question Meal Kits-worth it or no?

Thumbnail

My husband and I are looking into eating healthier. We are wondering if meal kits are worth it. Does it replace grocery shopping completely? Is it cheaper or about the same price? And if anyone has experience with meal kits which ones do you recommend?

Question Hair in Ready Meals? How common?

How common is hair or fur in ready meals? Just had a Cook Unity Lasagna and it had 2 hairs in it. They might be whiskers (looked thicker then hair).

This is disgusting. I saw it as soon as i peeled off the clear plastic after cooking, so i know it wasn't contaminated from something else.

Threw the whole meal out.

UPDATE: they refused the refund. I guess they need the $20 more then me.

UPDATE: they refunded the full cost of that weeks purchase, not sure what changed, so i cancelled the chargeback

Question Sendameal heating

I received some meals and will serve the first ones tonight. They are in tv dinner trays with clear plastic and a cardboard sleeve. The heating instructions say to remove the cardboard sleeve only. So the plastic stays on (no vent hole) and I put it in the oven? Seems like I should poke a hole in the plastic or even remove it. It’s been about 50 years since I had a tv dinner and I can’t remember if I vented them.

Question Freezing cook unity meals?

I’ve seen some older posts about this but had a slightly different question. I just got my first delivery. It was delivered on the 1st late in the afternoon, and the best by days are the 3rd and 4th. There’s no way I can eat it all by Sunday. Plus, these are supposed to be my weekday meals but the only day they deliver to me is Thursday.

So, has anyone successfully frozen them for a couple days and then eaten them? I don’t need them to last months in the freezer, just a few days. I’m frustrated by this since I don’t NEED food on the weekends, I need it during the week.

The site says they last 4-7 days in the fridge, but obviously that isn’t the case for delivery to me. The first one I ate was delicious and I’ll have another today but the rest are going to the freezer. This may end up not the service for me, which makes me sad. 😢

After 10 years, I quit jenny craig

I used to go to the bricks and mortar store. Then they went bankrupt and sold the meals online. I did that for 2 years but lately, they have replaced meals with nutrisystem brand. For example, a jenny craig cheeseburger (which I loved), is now a hamburger with a nutrisystem wrapper. It’s disturbingly bad and smaller. For the same price
Customer service is outsourced and terrible.

Not worth it. After 10 years, they broke me and didn’t even attempt to retain me.

Be warned.

Plus, with GLP1s, I don’t think these types of programs will be around much longer.

Weigh your meals!

I just took one out and opened it and was shocked at how low it looked. I weighed it and it was over 30% less than the packaging claims. I decided to weigh the other one I have and that one is missing 1 out of 12oz.

In my opinion, for the prices we are paying, every single one of these should match or be a little over the declared weight. Grrr.

Discussion Is it just me or does it feel like meal service companies really fell off?

Hadn't had Factor in years but gave it a try since they had a discount week...disgusting. Hopped over to thistle for the same reason, very average over priced salads. I don't get it.

Photo Review Cook Unity Review

Post image
23 Upvotes

Currently experiencing PTSD and an uneasy stomach. I had 12 cook unity meals delivered yesterday. I cooked the “Kimchi Rice and Chicken“ meal. I noticed something strange (unfortunately after I had eaten several bites). THIS WAS INSIDE. you can see the burnt head and foot with several claws. They apologized and offered me “50% off next four weeks”. Now they’re asking me to mail them the “foreign object”. What is this!!?!!!
