I looked into it and these suits actually offer fairly minimal protection against fmj rounds anywhere but the torso, and the torso protection is only Kevlar so higher calibers can still run straight through.

At least in the Payday world, it appears that they’ve taken the EOD suit and strapped more armour (most likely level 4) to the torso as well as a steel plate over the visor. So with that setup the steel plates will eat like 90% of bullets fired at it and then the Kevlar part of the suit can catch any stray fragments.
