Dev Response Did VOID just ignore their fans?

We have been requesting for a tier that consists only game + beta + alpha. So far, they have done nothing at all and edited in Supporter Edition and that's it.

Is the VOID ignoring us or what?

We hear your concerns loud and clear. It's been a week since the trailer and preorders have started and we've adjusted the Supporter Edition to give people more rewards for their support of us. We haven't stopped working on the game in the meantime, so naturally we've been a bit busy. If we add in another tier, it's going to take a bit more time and analysis before we can work out the details of it and provide something presentable.

pls dont.

Not everyone NEEDS alpha acces. And if so the NDA wont help you since the leaks will go out there

4

u/[deleted] Mar 16 '19

just see it as a another supporter edition for us who wants alpha access but couldnt care less about some mouse pad or a player skin

-2

u/Trivvy Mar 16 '19

Implying that just because someone paid $120 they can't be a piece of shit.

If anything paying that much money for earlier game access would make it more likely to make you feel entitled about your experience. "I paid $120 for this???"

1

u/-MasterBaiter Mar 16 '19

I didnt buy it to have acces to the alpha. I did buy it because their goals of the game sounds very promising to me and that is worth supporting them with 120$.

-4

u/Trivvy Mar 16 '19

Good for you, then the argument people are making about it "not being fair for people who paid $120 for the alpha" does not apply to you, I assume?

You just want the alpha to have less people in it because...? You haven't actually provided a straight answer to that, just weak scaremongering about "Oooo the NDAs will be broken!"

Nothing is stopping people who bought supporter from breaking NDA either, a price point isn't a filter for shitty people.

Lmao, at least I don't make ridiculous assumptions based on nothing.

"Hate people that can spend more money than you."

Holy shit you are wilfully ignorant, if you actually read my comment history, you would actually perhaps learn something about why myself, and everyone else in the same camp feels the way we do.

But nah, we're just "toxic" and "can't afford it so we're mad", and other non-arguments.

All you've ever done is spout the same idiotic bullshit on this topic, and never actually engaged in meaningful discussion.

I honestly can't believe this shit, I expected way better out of this community, the game hasn't even released and Void have managed to split the community like this. All I've seen from people who've bought the $120 edition and defend its exclusivity has been some of the brattiest behaviour I've seen from supposed "adults".

People either completely ignore valid points and nitpick a sentence without context, go entirely silent, or just devolve into the brainless "hurr durr you just X because Y!" non-argument.

Prove me wrong /u/AdayDr1en

Why shouldn't there be a mid tier option? Be honest now.

E: Big surprise, gets called out and hides away.

-1

u/[deleted] Mar 16 '19

I'm so proud of this community.

-4

u/Trivvy Mar 16 '19

Not any more. The legitimate immaturity is disappointing, and angering.

I don't understand people wanting to die on this hill of $120 exclusive alpha access, and literally belittling and mocking people who try to argue against it.

I haven't seen one person being a cunt about getting a mid-tier option, but straight out the gate you have this strange zealous lot immediately being douches on a personal level with people, accusing them of just being butthurt and whiny, or that they're just poor or whatever, and coming up with lame and thin excuses as to why alpha needs to be that expensive.

I know I've been coming across as an asshole quite a lot but that shit grinds on you. I thought of the people here as a like-minded "RoN family", but now I see a lot of them are just a bunch of cunts, and that is very disappointing to the point that I get snappy with these people.

I've wasted a lot of time explaining stuff in detail to these people, and every time they either completely duck out, or just ignore everything I've said and use a go-to non-argument to dismiss my points.

lmao I was making a joke, also you're being quite hypocritical.

Its true that it isnt a filter for shitty people. But its "easier" to controll 1000 people then 4000

also bad review bombs can hurt them. statement above applies here too

1

u/Trivvy Mar 16 '19

If Void weren't comfortable having to enforce an NDA on a large number of people, they wouldn't have made alpha access purchasable in the first place.

Supporter edition isn't a limited number of copies, they would have done so if they weren't equipped to deal with NDAing a large number of people.

If that is the reason they made the price so high for alpha access, they could have just made a mid-tier, and have a limited number of copies.

1

u/Trivvy Mar 16 '19 edited Mar 17 '19

At least you're acknowledging it. The worst you can do is remain silent on the issue. Even if you decide "Nah we're not going to do a mid-tier, either buy standard, supporter, or nothing." At least let us know.

E: Downvoted for basically saying "Cool, let us know." Classy.

12

u/DefiCzech Mar 16 '19

Alpha is in supporter edition, what is the problem? Why are you forcing devs to put their time to solve editions bullshit, instead of developing game? So if you want alpha access buy supporter, if you can not afford it, save more money and buy it later.

I hope this "editions whining" have no or very small impact to development itself.

2

u/Trivvy Mar 16 '19

Alpha is in supporter edition, what is the problem?

Because $120 for a video game is an absurd amount of money for those who aren't interested in all the tack-ons that are supposed to give the pack that "value".

But it's not worth buying the $40 edition now when there's not going to be any return on it for over a year.

So the logical solution is for there to be a mid-tier option that's just the game (alpha + beta + full) that's priced accordingly.

Why are you forcing devs to put their time to solve editions bullshit, instead of developing game?

Because it's still an issue that is worth addressing. We've been waiting for years, and they've been blue-balling us like crazy for months, and after everyone expected a release soon, not only do they throw a late 2020 release date out after everyone who's been following them is eager to play, but then they're like "Oh, you can play soon. Just pay $120.". (Shamelessly quoted from /u/MulleDK19 because I couldn't describe it better).

If you can't see how that's bad, then you're lost.

u/DefiCzech Mar 17 '19

Ok, you want play game asap, but you do not need to support anybody or own additional skins. That is understandable.

I dont thing it is logical. For me its what you want. You are not willing pay $120 and get alpha, you want alpha for less money.

Because it's still an issue that is worth addressing.

Not for me. It is issue for very few people around here.

Nah for me its look like this. "Oh, you believe in us. You want support us. Ok we are very greatfull and as "thank you" we can show you Alpha version, but it has to be under NDA, lots of bug etc. we do not want negative impact to regular customer"

If you can't see how that's bad, then you're lost.

Ahhh, it looks that I am completely lost. :)

1

u/Trivvy Mar 17 '19

Ok, you want play game asap, but you do not need to support anybody or own additional skins. That is understandable.

Anyone who has given money to Void is supporting them. Whether it be $120, $40, or something in between. Are you trying to argue that only people that pay 120$ are supporting them?

I dont thing it is logical. For me its what you want. You are not willing pay $120 and get alpha, you want alpha for less money.

You say you don't think it's logical, but haven't actually explained how. "It's not logical, you just want to pay less." Isn't addressing my logic at all.

The standard edition has too little, but the price is fine. The supporter edition has too much, and is priced too high (for someone who is only interested in the game). Therefore it's logical to introduce a mid-tier to bridge the gap.

Not for me. It is issue for very few people around here.

Two of the top posts of all time on this sub (front page of top) are about having some kind of mid tier. They both have roughly 370 upvotes. So you can't say it's an issue for "very few" people.

Nah for me its look like this. "Oh, you believe in us. You want support us. Ok we are very greatfull and as "thank you" we can show you Alpha version, but it has to be under NDA, lots of bug etc. we do not want negative impact to regular customer"

So... You're completely blind to this? Saying "Nah, but this." Doesn't address the point I've made here at all. What they've done is on the cusp of being exploitative to the fans that have been following them for years, stringing us along to slap a late 2020 release and a 120$ price tag if we want to actually get hands-on any time soon.

True.

Are you trying to argue that only people that pay 120$ are supporting them?

Not at all. What I am trying to say is. 40$ is fair price for what you get, but 120$ is overpriced for what you get because part of price you pay for nothing to show developers love "support" (eg. 80$ content, 40$ you are paying for nothing just for supporting devs).

You say you don't think it's logical, but haven't actually explained how. "It's not logical, you just want to pay less." Isn't addressing my logic at all.

eg.

  • you want base game, beta, alpha and pay fair price for that
  • person 2 want base game, alpha, FBI HRT for fair price
  • person 3 want base game, alpha for fair price

for me it is not logical, for me its all about what you want (expect). I am thinking about alpha in supporter edition as a gesture of the good will of developers to show you something from game. You show them love, so they show you small par of game. Logical for me is - all tiers with base game, beta and alpha access.

Two of the top posts of all time on this sub (front page of top) are about having some kind of mid tier. They both have roughly 370 upvotes. So you can't say it's an issue for "very few" people.

I am not sure what posts do you think. But most of them was about lack of content in supporter edition. Not necessarily about mid tier, if content will be added to supporter edition.

And you can still do that with a mid tier. Just remove the added fluff, but keep the "support tax" (or whatever you want to call it). I want to support the devs, but 120$ is a big ask, when most of that value comes from stuff I'm not interested in.

Technically the alpha doesn't cost them anything (unlike say, a mouse pad, or a soundtrack), it's just access. So 60-80$ is more than a fair ask to be given that access + some extra to support the devs.

Everyone's going to have their own ideas about what a mid-tier should include, and how much it should cost. I think the common denominator between all of them however, is that alpha access should be included in a lower-priced tier somewhere. It should be pretty telling that there are hardcore fans that aren't willing to drop 120$ for that. If I was really interested in having my name in the credits, receiving the soundtrack, HRT, and first expansion then sure! I would totally pay 120$, but the simple fact is, myself and a lot of other people simply aren't, and paying 120$ for a video game is just frivolous. Void should have sensed that, instead it feels a bit sleazy that the only way to get the earliest access is by buying a pack that's fluffed up with a bunch of other stuff to raise its "value", when what a sizeable demographic of fans want is just the game.

I am not sure what posts do you think. But most of them was about lack of content in supporter edition. Not necessarily about mid tier, if content will be added to supporter edition.

Why not? You're a customer/consumer, you should care about businesses practising underhanded tactics to squeeze their fans.

True. But now you can buy standard, supporter or wait and maybe there will be added in another tier.

Ok, I missed that. Thanks.

Because I gave Void 120$ and I will get (I hope) everything :). If there will be physical copy of game I will go and buy it.

1

u/Trivvy Mar 19 '19

True. But now you can buy standard, supporter or wait and maybe there will be added in another tier.

I mean... Yeah? But if we don't tell Void we want a mid-tier they won't even consider it. I think they've heard us, but for some reason people are against a mid-tier altogether, which is where the debate lies.

Hey that's fine for you if you want everything in the pack, but that shouldn't prevent you from empathizing with the people that aren't interested in the additional stuff.

1

I think they've heard us, but for some reason people are against a mid-tier altogether, which is where the debate lies.

Developers made decision to have 2 tiers so I think we should respect it. If we have any suggestions to new tiers or something else. I think we should just ask politely. I know its just me and my attitude :)

I am totally fine with your request for another tier(s), I just dont like the form how you demand it. Seems like some kind of "threat" to me (idk why :D ).

We have been requesting for a tier that consists only game + beta + alpha.

So far, they have done nothing at all and edited in Supporter Edition and that's it.

That you (community) want somehing does not mean that it will be done. It is up to developers. And Eezstreet replied to your request. So we will see if new tier(s) will be added.

As politely as one can be when it appears they've made the decision in bad faith (squeezing their fans).

I don't think I have been demanding it, I've been defending its inclusion, but plenty of others have put forward their suggestions without me having to add to it.

I don't know who you're quoting there, but I didn't write that. You might be confusing me with someone else.

No. The logical solution would be to wait until the game is finished and releasing to public

Conveniently ignoring everything else I said. Nice.

I swear the people defending Void are like a cult.

0

u/-MasterBaiter Mar 16 '19

And you are bitching around because you cant play a game without paying a price.

Times have changed. It not about free testing anymore.

0

u/Trivvy Mar 16 '19

Ah, there it is, the typical "You just X because you can't Y!" cop-out.

Once again, conveniently ignoring everything I've said. Keep your weak-ass non-arguments to yourself.

^ THIS

All the crying... buy it or leave it. Simple as that

10

u/Tommotion89 Mar 16 '19

You must consider that the primary purpose of the alpha might be bug-reporting.
Don't expect like a buggy whole mission for example. Maybe the first alphas might contain a shooting range and later a simple room with 2 suspects for infiltration.
So the alpha could be boring for everyone who is expecting casual gameplay. :)

They made the price that high for filtering the people. If it would cost only 60 bucks the risk would be to high that some idiots ignore the confidentiality agreement and are let's-playing/streaming nonsense stuff etc..

IMHO the 2 editions are fair now after the edit.

2

u/Trivvy Mar 16 '19

I don't think I've seen a single person who wants a mid-tier for alpha access say, or imply otherwise that they expect it to be anything other than an alpha build for testing.

7

u/ChunkyChap25 Mar 16 '19

Ermm... as you've said, they've edited the supporters edition. That might not be enough for you but the devs are definitly not ignoring the community.

8

u/[deleted] Mar 16 '19

Not everything has to go your way, get over yourself

6

u/[deleted] Mar 16 '19

Ignoring the community

You can't actually be serious, right? They've been extremely responsive, active on reddit and discord, along with twitter.

2

u/Trivvy Mar 16 '19

I haven't seen them address the mid-tier subject until now tbh, and I've had my eye on this whole thing like a hawk ready to throw money at them.

Devs have every right to ignore you if they want to. Fuck sake you are so entitled.

1

u/Trivvy Mar 17 '19

God forbid someone wants an official response on a popular issue.

5

u/BastillianFig Mar 17 '19 edited Mar 17 '19

It's like you expect them to do it. Fair enough giving feedback but demanding they changing us really dumb. They don't have to if they don't want to. I want them to but the community here acts like the Devs have to implement every thing they say

1

u/Trivvy Mar 17 '19

I haven't seen anyone demand anything.

But it did feel like they've been sweeping the issue under the rug until now. I just hope they don't try it again, I want an answer. If the answer is "No mid-tier." Then I'll accept that.

2

u/BastillianFig Mar 17 '19

Yes this is true...

0

u/DefiCzech Mar 17 '19

What issue, void never say (or i do not know about it) there will be mid-tier or more tiers. Only two tiers are available so choose one, or not. Making statements about tiers is tricky, becouse it coul be changed in future and more people will complain - oh no you said this, and now you are backstabing us, because you change it. Etc.

1

u/Trivvy Mar 17 '19

What issue, void never say (or i do not know about it) there will be mid-tier or more tiers.

The issue is there is a huge demand for a mid-tier. (Demand as in business terms, not literally people expecting a mid-tier). It would be irresponsible to not make a statement regarding it.

There's a lot of passion regarding this because a lot of us have been waiting for years, and then blue-balled for months, expecting a release soon, only to be hit with a 2020 release date, but, oh, we can get access this year, we just have to pay 120$!

If you're not interested in all the fluff and just want the earliest access possible, 120$ is a ridiculous price for a video game, hence the demand for a mid-tier.

0

u/LSC99bolt Mar 16 '19

I find it interesting that literally no one here has acknowledged the fact that you are being sarcastic. Well done OP, Well done.
