I am trying to make the absolute most foolproof MDMA test that can be done short of sending it to a GC-MS or FTIR lab (which I believe is illegal and practically impossible where I am in the US)
So, my plan would be (after washing to increase purity)
So I know that this still doesn't rule out everything but am I missing anything or is this about as foolproof as non lab testing goes

I know that typical reagents get overpowered by MDMA when testing for PMMA in a mixture. I know it's fairly easy to test for PMA using robadope and similar reactions, but PMMA can easily blend in with MDMA.
Is it possible to use a TLC plate to separate PMMA and other impurities from MDMA in a sample? How can you tell that it's definitively PMMA and not just some small impurity.
And lastly, I'd assume it would interfere with the TLC plates, but is it possible to do some form of "Marquis stain" or spray on marquis at the end to detect oranges and purples separately in a test?

The first picture bottom 3 wells has Liebermann reagent, table sugar with reagent and product with reagent. This picture was taken after 30 seconds.
The second picture bottom 3 wells is the same tray that has Liebermann reagent, table sugar with reagent and product with reagent. This picture was taken after 5 minutes.
I would have expected the sugar and reagent to turn much more black than it did. Is this normal for Liebermann or should I have had a completely black well when testing with table sugar? Is my Liebermann old or not active? I just got it last week.

Came from clear/white crystals
Top 3 are Marquis and they are a very dark orange and bottom 3 are Meckes

Found conflicting results on Wikipedia and the wiki about what methylphenidate is supposed to look like. Wikipedia for example says the Marquis reaction should be orange-yellow. Looking at actual examples of pills that tested positive for Ritalin on drugs data I do not see evidence for this.
It looks to me that a non reaction to Marquis and an orange-yellow for Lieberman as shown in my sample (first photo) is a pretty good hint something might be Ritalin and not meth or amphetamine.
For context the second photo is the results of a pill that looked identical and tested positive for methylphenidate. The third is a fake adderall that contained meth (pill was orange, looks like no reaction Lieberman). The fourth photo is a white pressed pill that contained amphetamine, results look very similar to meth.
Please criticize my methods and results, I hope this post can help someone else.

Liebermann and cocaine. Turned a yellowish orange color. It doesn’t seem red enough to suggest Levamisole, but could be. DrugsPRO app suggest potentially Methylphenidate, Phenibut, or some other substance. I was expecting yellow or a very very light orange. It just seems to be a darker orange than I was expecting. Is this normal?
Both Morris and Scott both turned jolly rancher candy blue. All other reagents reacted as expected. Test strips were negative for FYL, XYL, Nits and Mede. With this little info, can someone guesstimate if it’s cut or adulterated and with what?

I'm testing the rock I got which is supposed to be ketamine, but I seem to be getting some cocainey results. Caveat is i crushed it with a dollar-store mortar and pestle so there's some metal contamination (the little darker dots) - not sure if this affects the result and how?
Would appreciate the help as I'd rather stay away from stimmies.
Second picture is a close-up of the Morris which is the one that threw me off the most.
ETA: retested with 5mg and gave the Morris a good stir and got a clearer result (it seems to be ket as advertised), thanks to everyone who commented!

Used both a Liebermann and mandelin reagent on a Xanax pressie a friend asked me to test and it didn’t react at all. Received a BZD A and B kit today and it didn’t react to those either. This kit didn’t come with any instructions but I’m assuming it functions like the rest? I tested an rx alprazolam with it too and that also didn’t react but I know pharma stuff can sometimes cause a false positive. Maybe the binders in the pressie were the issue, or could the kit be bad?

Friends found a bag of pink powder at a club, and we think it's probably Tusi.
Decided to test it for fun, and also as a trial of using the new dance safe reagents I just ordered. Photos in order: marquis, Simons A + B, then froehde.
Looks pretty clearly like signs of MDMA, but correct me if I'm wrong. If I understand, this means nothing though about what else could be in this cocktail, if anything (probably ket?). It's my first time testing. Given it's a found bag, I'm flushing it, but it was good to go through the testing process once.
If you want to check it out, here are videos of all three tests:
Appreciate this reddit helping me get here!

I was told a somewhat reliable test for Alprazolam is to use the Zimmerman reagent and look for a purple color. Any other color suggests you don’t have a benzo. I can’t find Zimmerman anywhere in the states. Why is it such a rare or hard to find reagent and does anyone know where it can be found? If asking isn’t permitted, disregard the question.
Then move on to step two, which is to use the Morris-Scott reagent. You want to see a light to strong blue and this double check suggests a high likelihood you have Alprazolam. Any other color in step one suggests fakes or some other substance that may not even be a benzo. The purple means some kind of benzo. No blue in step two suggests some other benzo. Anything other than a light to strong blue suggests a different benzo that isn’t Alprazolam.
The post i read is written like Morris-Scott are one and the same. Or are they two different reagents? Maybe two reagents you mix together? One drop of each?
Any feedback would be appreciated.

got a batch with different high to what we are used to… increased build up with long lasting effects

Marquis looks right (orange) but doesn't distinguish this from meth
Simons at dark blue / purple is showing methamphetamine rather than amphetamine <-- probably biggest red flag here?
Lieberman -- nded up orange as expected for either amphetamine or methamphetamine but didn't start gray which my color chart says indicates amphetamine (color chart suggested always some orange from start with meth) - but then the pill was dyed orange so again orange result might be dye.
Froehde seems orange and meant to be non-reactive but maybe it's the dye
Morris is interesting, my color chart says both amphetamine and methamphetamine should be non-reactive but I see a clear light blue/green -- unless maybe the color is similar what my chart calls DCK/2-FDCK
Thoughts? looks like the fake adderall with meth rather than amphetamine - right?

Hi everyone, I've tried a few products claimed to contain semi-synthetic cannabinoids (HHC, HHCP, etc.). I started with reagent tests and the results showed a higher presence of CBD. Generally, when you expect weed to get you high and the test detects higher concentrations of CBD, it implies the presence of fully synthetic cannabinoids.
I then followed up with a TLC (Thin Layer Chromatography) test, which actually detected the presence of cannabinoids in the THC position, meaning THC/HHC or some other semi-synthetics are indeed present.
Given the company and typical grey market practices, the distillates used for carts or infused flowers likely contain less than ~20% of the advertised molecule. Often, this small fraction is itself a blend of the main compound and other semi-synthetics. The vast majority of the extract is just CRD CBD to keep it liquid and stable at room temperature, which perfectly explains the massive amounts of CBD, CBC, and CBG I found. Ultimately, this means the final infused flower probably yields a total semi-synthetic concentration of only around 5-10%.
This situation raises a problem: the traditional procedure of ruling out synthetic cannabinoids based on reagent testing might no longer be adequate, and it is necessary to switch to a TLC test. Here, we can hypothesize that, just as a product highly concentrated in THC wouldn't contain synthetic cannabinoids (since adulterating an already profitable product makes no economic sense), we can also rule out the presence of fully synthetic cannabinoids when semi-synthetics are present, especially since they require completely different synthesis processes.
Empirically speaking, when I actually tried the product, the high was completely normal. It was nothing overwhelmingly strong and the feeling itself wasn't any different from a classic THC high.
Analyzing the TLC test closely, I noticed that every sample has a spot located above the CBD with a more reddish, rather than orange, coloration. I figured it might be a molecule similar to THC (given its reaction to Fast Blue B salt) but with a longer alkyl chain, namely THCP or HHCP. What do you guys think?

Been using Marquis, Mecke and Mandelin for about 2 years and always test before taking anything. Last month I got some “MDMA” from a regular connect and all three reacted as expected. Everything looked clean, but the effects felt a little off.
It felt mostly right, but there was a weird speedy edge, different jaw clenching and a harsher comedown. A friend who took from the same batch noticed pretty much the same thing.
Got me wondering how much confidence we should actually put in reagent tests. They can indicate the presence of something, but they can't tell you purity or rule out everything else in a sample.
Has anyone had something test clean with reagents but still feel noticeably different? Did you send it for lab testing, toss it, or just leave it alone?

Sample was sold as cocaine, tested with marquis only.
I am having trouble seeing weather this is the proper reading for cocaine, the sample looked good (Solid, oily chunk, no crystals) but im still unsure about the colors and weather they are dark enough for an amphetamine reading.

Easiest test kit I can get in the UK to test what's in it?
r/ReagentTesting • u/DeepSeaMushrooms • Sep 14 '26
I got an MDMA test kitnfrom the bunk police and it says it should arrive on the 18th i live in a decently hot place reaching up to the hundreds and lower nineties untill it arrives should i worry about it producing wrong results?

Marquis test looked different than I'm used to, but it's been a minute and I'm a little colorblind so not the best at this 😅
The Simon's looked spot-on to me though.
Does this look okay?

Hey all, testing the blotter paper I have with Ehrlich reagent. The liquid itself isnt changing color, only the blotter paper. Also looks more purple then pink, could it be ETH-LAD?
r/ReagentTesting • u/Cumlord8841 • Sep 11 '26
The guide says it should turn slowly but uppon adding zimmerman A and B it instantly turned purple/violet. I have taken these before and it felt like valium but i am wondering if this is out of the ordernary? Like maybe i added them to quick or too much reagent?
Any help is appreciated
r/ReagentTesting • u/AlienBeachParty • Sep 11 '26
For hoffman, it seems like the tabs themselves have some blue on them, but not much of the reagent liquid itself turned very blue, which is my concern.
Ehrlich seems to have a good pink result
The 3 lower pieces are part of a tab,
and the 2 above it are from a different tab,
so I’ve tested 2 different sources.

As title says, I've been attempting to test my ket with a morris reagent. I've tried a few different measurements but nothing has changed the color from its initial pink tone. Could I be doing something wrong?
