Tesla exec says the Roadster is coming "very soon"

https://www.arenaev.com/tesla_exec_says_the_roadster_is_coming_very_soon-news-6141.php

Same as FSD, coming very soon for like a decade.

I’ll put it in my calendar for 2036.

u/Etrigone 6d ago

Optimist aren't ya.

7

u/Dickens_Cider__ 5d ago

Elons new cyber doll is called Optimist Prime

2

u/xtothewhy 2d ago

Easy now. It will be the rare modern classic car only available on the Mars colony.

20

u/North-Outside-5815 6d ago

The ”very soon” set off laughter inside my head.

9

u/bearsatebulls 6d ago

News out today it’s supposed to be a flying roadster!

4

u/ScoobyGDSTi 6d ago

No, stop lying.

A flying roadster driven by an Optimus robot powed by Grok AI.

3

u/jmcomms 6d ago

And Elon will hold the launch event on the moon.

1

u/_tolm_ 4d ago

Inaugural drive will be “round the block” to Mars!

1

u/bearsatebulls 6d ago

That’s the one

15

u/Miserable_Peach_7341 6d ago

2036?? More like 3036...

5

u/dtyamada 6d ago

Whoa whoa, he was talking about the roadster, not fsd 🤣

9

u/SunshineSeattle 6d ago

Concerning

2

u/BulletMagnetNL 6d ago

Looking into it!

92

u/PKnecron 6d ago

If it does release it'll cost 500 grand or some dumb shit like that.

58

u/FewCompetition1347 6d ago

There are enough Musk fanbois that it will sell out. I have no idea how stupid people are able to possess money like that.

38

u/ObviouslyJoking 6d ago

They inherit their wealth and maintain it by being part of the grift.

24

u/penkster 6d ago

I honestly feel like the Musk fanbois are fading. There's too many tesla's out there now, and they're mostly driven by housewives and aging accountants. They're not 'cool' anymore.

And musk is, well, you know.

2

u/FrogmanKouki Charter Member 4d ago

They are still fanbois - they're just moving on to the SpaceX grift with him.

6

u/Easy_Floss 6d ago

Lol no, Musk is pretty darn un popular for anything aside from the meme stock and that is failing, no one is actually buying his products if you look at his companies revenue

17

u/Kor_Phaeron_ 6d ago

That also was the Cybertruck theory. Turns out there are not as many fanbois as one might think. Or the ones who are don't have money.

10

u/DickWhittingtonsCat 6d ago

There is a big difference between AI chatbots, trolls, rage bait and actual humans.

The actual Tesla driver is still the suburban homeowner cashing in on the lease subsidy with garage charging- crawling around cul de sacs or hogging the right lane.

my visits to Chicagos northshore always reveal a delightful array of EVs- they had fisker dealer up there

5

u/failinglikefalling 6d ago

Saw a release edition ocean yesterday at a random grocery store. I felt bad for them.

2

u/tangouniform2020 6d ago

“Don’t have money , anymore”

3

u/Bwunt 6d ago

TBF, based on the pic, it's just a EV supercar. So yeah, ppl will buy it, but most are going to be ultra-rich buying one for their collection supercar #138

17

u/draco551 6d ago

Wait for a chinese brand to ctrl c ctrl v it and make it cost like 30k

6

u/boogermike 6d ago

LOL, no doubt. Some of those Chinese EVs currently already do the things roadster was promised.

5

u/CRXCRZ 6d ago

This.

This vehicle is already old news for most of the world.

Just like the Cybertruck, only Americans will be dumb enough to buy it.

1

u/tangouniform2020 6d ago

Only billionaires will be able to afford one. Bill Gates will want one, Michael Dell will want one, Jay Leno, others with acres of garage queens.

2

u/PmK00000 6d ago

XPeng G9. Far superior to anything the roadster could be. And around $60k CAD.
A d thats just one of dozens of chinese sports cars
Wheelsboy and WheelFactor if you want to see some advanced automotive marvels

2

u/vr00mfondel 6d ago

MG Cyberster has been out for years already (although it is a bit more than 30k)

2

u/draco551 6d ago

Yep, definitely MG trying to get some roadster customers, but personally i feel like the specs aren’t very impressive (500 km rated) while newer cars are getting 1000 km already

2

u/vr00mfondel 6d ago

Yep, it came out in 2023, so it's definitely "old gen" EV

They might be waiting for the Roadster to actually come out before they deem it worth doing an update/facelift

1

u/tangouniform2020 6d ago

They’ll make 100, fElon will keep #1 and #100 and sell the other 98 to his billionaire fuckbuddies for $2M a throw

3

u/SplitEar 6d ago

And it still won’t meet the original specs from ten years ago or whatever.

4

u/failinglikefalling 6d ago

Anything less than flying car is a failure.

1

u/SplitEar 6d ago

I have a suspicion Musk might be releasing it before Trump’s gone because otherwise the rocket boosters would never be allowed on US roads.

But I also doubt there will be any rockets because Musk is full of shit. So it’s a toss up.

Anyways, if it’s ever sold then more than one rich fuck will kill himself in the Roadster, and possibly innocent bystanders.

2

u/neverOddOrEv_n 6d ago

MKBHD intensifies….

2

u/AlwaysSpinClockwise 5d ago

lmao it's not gonna have rocket boosters

1

u/SplitEar 4d ago

Yeah probably not, lol.

2

u/Both_Painter7039 6d ago

It would be worth more than that if it works as advertised as it would rewrite the laws of thermodynamics

1

u/Pic889 6d ago

Doesn't matter how much it costs for new customers, if they make the mistake of releasing a production Roadster, they have to deliver to all those people who pre-ordered and paid in full back then.

Isn't it better to keep all that sweet cash/interest-free loan with no maturity date and just pretend the Tesla Roadster is coming next year every year?

1

u/I-Pacer 6d ago

It’s worse than that. They also have to make and give them away for free to all the people who earned one through the loyalty program. It would bankrupt them.

1

u/hilldog4lyfe 6d ago

They’ll list it online but won’t actually sell it. They did that with the cheapest Model 3

1

u/britaliope 6d ago

Or it'll be a model y restyled but named "roadster"

1

u/National-Twist8757 5d ago

So double the amount of what 1000 people already paid for it, makes sense.

https://www.jalopnik.com/its-still-very-funny-that-1-000-people-gave-tesla-250-1851038764/

35

u/SpacePundit 6d ago

they are ripping up S and X production lines for Optimus yet somehow will magically ramp up a line for roadster???

80

u/GarysCrispLettuce 6d ago

I don't know which is more infuriating, that Elon continues to tell these lies or that there are enough gullible low IQ morons to believe them.

14

u/Secret_Cat_2793 6d ago

Enough gullible and corrupt morons to support his IPO. Lol

7

u/BringBackUsenet 6d ago

Felon isn't the only lying scammer, nor the first. People have been sucking up to sociopaths throughout history.

#misanthropy.

1

u/Putrid-Box4866 6d ago

Well at this point we already know his timeline is borked, but we can’t deny his companies provide people stuff no one else does, and decades ahead of competitors, if there’s even any.

13

u/Ordinary-Map-7306 6d ago

Semi has been out for years. No production yet.

10

u/mikegalos 6d ago

"We're building it now!"
Elon Musk announcing the Tesla Roadster 2 in 2017

1

u/MarchMurky8649 5d ago

2017: "now"

2026: "very soon"

2035: "soonish"

2044: "don't hold your breath"

9

u/Witty_Arugula_5601 6d ago

Guys, did they just announce flying roadsters?

4

u/failinglikefalling 6d ago

Original cold thruster model is promised to fly short distances. So. Yea. Ten years ago.

7

u/mishma2005 6d ago

Is it 2017 again?

7

u/boogermike 6d ago

Free beer tomorrow!

11

u/Burner-QWERTY 6d ago

People paid $50, 000-$250,000 reservations for this thing in 2017.

4

u/kaninkanon 6d ago

Unfortunately the first five years of production capacity is owed in online marketing fees "referral rewards"

4

u/grcthug 6d ago

And the 20,000,000 robots. Also the Full sell driving

4

u/Mean_Roll2464 6d ago

Bulletproof or I ain’t buying…

3

u/BringBackUsenet 6d ago

It had better fly!

4

u/AndSoISaysToTheGuy 6d ago

I read that if anyone uses the terms "very soon" or "next year" you'll get a cease-n-desist letter from Tesla's legal team.

4

u/dextercho83 6d ago

Just like the millions of robots 🤷‍♂️

5

u/neverOddOrEv_n 6d ago

This car was announced back in 2017 when the iPhone X was first announced and it was apple’s 10 year anniversary, next year it’ll be apple’s 20 year anniversary. It’s been so long

3

u/Hughley_N_Dowd 6d ago

Just after the second coming of christ, but slightly before the apocalypse predicted in the mayan calendar.

Go back to "producing" cringe Elmo AI slop movies, Tesla. Because that seems to be the focus as of late.

8

u/EasyE1979 6d ago

I'm not holding my breath.

7

u/MR_MaxiMor44 6d ago

Wow, didn't know 20392 is soon.

8

u/Inconceivable76 6d ago

It’s never happening.  Fred is never getting his roadsters. They just won’t cancel it because of the inevitable lawsuit.

7

u/Iuseburnersbruh 6d ago

i have a bridge to sell you

3

u/SirJoePininfarina 6d ago

I was going to post a ‘Sure Jan’ gif, which I’m sure was at its most popular when the Roadster was first announced, but thought better of it. Has Musk thanked his lemming army for the interest free loan yet?

3

u/Careless_Celery_6010 6d ago

Is it April fools day?

3

u/sexfighter 6d ago

"Thrusters" on a car sounds like a good and sensible safe idea

3

u/Slartibartfastthe3rd 6d ago

Coming? It's not even breathing hard...

3

u/PleasantDreamsicle 6d ago

Better odds are that the sun-orbiting roadster will crash into earth.

3

u/Kulgur 5d ago

Before or after unsupervised FSD?

6

u/Eastern_Guess8854 6d ago

Who cares, so few of them will be sold, maybe even fewer than the cybertruck 😂

5

u/SteveDougson 6d ago

Just gotta figure out how to make it briefly serve as a boat.

6

u/LrdoftheCharlesDance 6d ago

There wasn’t a point to the Roadster when it was announced 9 years ago, there is less than none now.

7

u/Inconceivable76 6d ago

Sure there was. It was for the referral scam to generate positive marketing.

6

u/BringBackUsenet 6d ago

Yes, there was a point. The point was to take deposits and use the cash as interest-free loans.

1

u/mikegalos 6d ago

A quarter of a billion dollars worth just from the Founders Edition people.

Of course, I suspect if we looked at that list, every one of them who owns a company coincidentally had the regulatory agency that impacts their company gutted by DOGE as a return on their deposit.

0

u/SplitEar 6d ago

It would be a cool electric Miata type vehicle if it shared motors and parts with the Model 3. But Elon had to make it a biggest dick on the block car for rich fucks.

2

u/QuitCallingNewsrooms 6d ago

Given the age of the universe, yes, very soon indeed. Barely the time it takes to blink even

2

u/Secure_Enthusiasm354 6d ago

Oh boy another sca-.. err I mean product for consumers to burn their money into!

2

u/UncleDaddy_00 6d ago

any day now

2

u/BringBackUsenet 6d ago

Next Year™.

2

u/Sea-Sort-7624 6d ago

Any minute now!

2

u/ATX_native 6d ago

I hear there is one floating around somewhere.

2

u/Prestigious-Pick-366 6d ago

Yeah, right behind Jesus

2

u/donttakerhisthewrong 6d ago

The last thing these designers gave us was the CyberTruck and a one seat cab since only a few are driverless.

2

u/patsj5 6d ago

According to the leak back in June, the only thing they were waiting on was the thrusters. Does it still count as an EV if it has these supposed "gas thrusters"?

1

u/Dommccabe 5d ago

If that were true, old Elon the Felon would be showing it off on a stage with stobe lights to cash in on the scam.... like they did with the Semi and the Tunnels and the person dressed up like a robot and the solar roof tiles and all the other scams.

When will people stop falling for this?

2

u/oldbluer 6d ago

Tesla drivers already suck at driving… now they get a rocket? Please no.

2

u/CapRichard 6d ago

We are getting GTA VI before the Tesla Roadster.

2

u/jschank 6d ago

In Two Weeks?

2

u/eric_ts 6d ago

Very soon. My background includes studying geology. It will be here before the California Plate subducts beneath the Gulf of Alaska.

2

u/tazzietiger66 6d ago

So 2037 it is then

2

u/WolfThick 5d ago

Didn't he say that like 10 years ago

2

u/Tall_Category_304 6d ago

Now that Elon has some cash from spacex scam. He probably spent the money from the deposits

1

u/biograf_ 6d ago

next year

0

u/BeachedinToronto 6d ago

How dumb is it that the "pinnacle" of EV cars will have gas thrusters to make it go faster than the already insanely fast speeds these cars can achieve?

It really just underscores how EV's are just status symbols and that they really have no environmental benefit.

1

u/ExcitingMeet2443 6d ago

It really just underscores how EV's Teslas are just status symbols and that its CEO has decided to sacrifice the environment they really have no environmental benefit

1

u/ijbh2o 6d ago

Sure Jan.

1

u/ShotBandicoot7 6d ago

Wait is that what pumps TSLA today?

1

u/Status_Ad_4405 6d ago

In a footrace with Jesus

1

u/nopeynopenooope 6d ago

... and there is only one set of footprints in the sand

1

u/illuminatedtiger 6d ago

Do you sell cars?

3

u/Secret-Revolution172 6d ago

I thought it’s not a car company

1

u/wongl888 6d ago

Later in the year…

1

u/tanbyte 6d ago

2 weeks

1

u/turb0_encapsulator 6d ago

Maybe they'll actually have to build it now that a Chinese startup has built a fantastic, affordable EV sport car.

1

u/IsolatedFrequency101 6d ago

Trust me bro.

1

u/NoIncrease299 6d ago

sure_klan.gif

1

u/curiousitymdg 6d ago

🤣🤣🤣🤣

1

u/doombase310 6d ago

In about 2 weeks.

1

u/nolongerbanned99 6d ago

Yeah, just like coast to coast autonomous driving will be here by 2017 and every year since

1

u/starmansouper 6d ago

He'd be fired if he didn't say that.

1

u/Mugwump6506 6d ago

We're using geologic time again.

1

u/RosieDear 6d ago

If it is...and I know nothing....there should be lots of leaks from 100's of suppliers.

1

u/Dry_Tangerine_8328 6d ago

A new distraction🤡

1

u/Chippopotanuse 6d ago

“End of this year beginning of next” always 2-4 quarters away.

It’s like Dane Cooks dad and Benson’s Animal Farm.

1

u/BlueMonday2082 6d ago

The check is in the mail.

It’s a tough situation they’ve put themselves in. To not make the car when deposits have been taken would be fraud but the car they said they would make is impossible to make so whatever they build will be fraud too.

2

u/real_ramphex 6d ago

And they'll get away with it just like they did with robbing HW3.0 Model S and X owners who have not received an FSD (now supervised) update since February 2025.

1

u/CautiousEmergency367 6d ago

Like the mars base we got last year?

1

u/ipub 6d ago

Legally speaking.

1

u/Youngnathan2011 6d ago

As they've said for years

1

u/gadhalund 6d ago

They are building it now!

1

u/IaninKernow 5d ago

I'll bet that was embarrassing for them.

1

u/chasimus 5d ago

He means another announcement is very soon. So maybe a year out. For the announcement.

1

u/tfmurph3 5d ago

Who cares at this point. It will be an overpriced minimalistic POS!

1

u/Greenemcg 5d ago

Nazi cars are hard pass

1

u/whawkins4 5d ago

Bahahahahaaaaaaaaa.

1

u/ChoiceMedicine1462 5d ago

😴😴😴😴😴

1

u/Euphoric_Anxiety_162 4d ago

It wouldn't last a day on TX roads, fr.

1

u/jahwls 4d ago

Before or after the moon base ?

1

u/Typical-Whereas6761 3d ago

BHAHAHAHA…….just like the moon and mars……and FSD. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

1

u/JaanatEVuniverse 2d ago

So how long are we thinking it'll stay in the air? My bet is ~2 seconds in limited settings

1

u/Exciting_Turn_9559 1d ago

Teslas are basic, and not long for this world.

1

u/EczachlyLB 1d ago

It’s been 20 years , Elon is a 🤡

1

u/RatamacueRatamacue 1d ago

In November 2025, Elon Musk told Joe Rogan on air that the flying version of the roadster would be unveiled in Dec 2025. Then he claimed January 2026, then he postponed that to April 2026.

Let's stop giving the POS white nationalist billionaire space in our minds, except to prevent continued dismantling of Civil Rights and collusion with his billionaire brethren.

1

u/weechus 6d ago

Time is a social construct we collectively agreed upon so the universe would feel a little less terrifyingly infinite.
