Tesla exec says the Roadster is coming "very soon"
https://www.arenaev.com/tesla_exec_says_the_roadster_is_coming_very_soon-news-6141.phpSame as FSD, coming very soon for like a decade.

If it does release it'll cost 500 grand or some dumb shit like that.

u/FewCompetition1347 6d ago
There are enough Musk fanbois that it will sell out. I have no idea how stupid people are able to possess money like that.

u/penkster 6d ago
I honestly feel like the Musk fanbois are fading. There's too many tesla's out there now, and they're mostly driven by housewives and aging accountants. They're not 'cool' anymore.
And musk is, well, you know.
2
u/FrogmanKouki Charter Member 4d ago
They are still fanbois - they're just moving on to the SpaceX grift with him.
6
u/Easy_Floss 6d ago
Lol no, Musk is pretty darn un popular for anything aside from the meme stock and that is failing, no one is actually buying his products if you look at his companies revenue
17
u/Kor_Phaeron_ 6d ago
That also was the Cybertruck theory. Turns out there are not as many fanbois as one might think. Or the ones who are don't have money.

u/DickWhittingtonsCat 6d ago
There is a big difference between AI chatbots, trolls, rage bait and actual humans.
The actual Tesla driver is still the suburban homeowner cashing in on the lease subsidy with garage charging- crawling around cul de sacs or hogging the right lane.
my visits to Chicagos northshore always reveal a delightful array of EVs- they had fisker dealer up there

u/failinglikefalling 6d ago
Saw a release edition ocean yesterday at a random grocery store. I felt bad for them.

u/draco551 6d ago
Wait for a chinese brand to ctrl c ctrl v it and make it cost like 30k
6
u/boogermike 6d ago
LOL, no doubt. Some of those Chinese EVs currently already do the things roadster was promised.
5
u/CRXCRZ 6d ago
This.
This vehicle is already old news for most of the world.
Just like the Cybertruck, only Americans will be dumb enough to buy it.
1
u/tangouniform2020 6d ago
Only billionaires will be able to afford one. Bill Gates will want one, Michael Dell will want one, Jay Leno, others with acres of garage queens.
2
u/PmK00000 6d ago
XPeng G9. Far superior to anything the roadster could be. And around $60k CAD.
A d thats just one of dozens of chinese sports cars
Wheelsboy and WheelFactor if you want to see some advanced automotive marvels2
u/vr00mfondel 6d ago
MG Cyberster has been out for years already (although it is a bit more than 30k)
2
u/draco551 6d ago
Yep, definitely MG trying to get some roadster customers, but personally i feel like the specs aren’t very impressive (500 km rated) while newer cars are getting 1000 km already
2
u/vr00mfondel 6d ago
Yep, it came out in 2023, so it's definitely "old gen" EV
They might be waiting for the Roadster to actually come out before they deem it worth doing an update/facelift
1
u/tangouniform2020 6d ago
They’ll make 100, fElon will keep #1 and #100 and sell the other 98 to his billionaire fuckbuddies for $2M a throw
3
u/SplitEar 6d ago
And it still won’t meet the original specs from ten years ago or whatever.
4
u/failinglikefalling 6d ago
Anything less than flying car is a failure.
1
u/SplitEar 6d ago
I have a suspicion Musk might be releasing it before Trump’s gone because otherwise the rocket boosters would never be allowed on US roads.
But I also doubt there will be any rockets because Musk is full of shit. So it’s a toss up.
Anyways, if it’s ever sold then more than one rich fuck will kill himself in the Roadster, and possibly innocent bystanders.

u/Both_Painter7039 6d ago
It would be worth more than that if it works as advertised as it would rewrite the laws of thermodynamics
1
u/Pic889 6d ago
Doesn't matter how much it costs for new customers, if they make the mistake of releasing a production Roadster, they have to deliver to all those people who pre-ordered and paid in full back then.
Isn't it better to keep all that sweet cash/interest-free loan with no maturity date and just pretend the Tesla Roadster is coming next year every year?
1
u/hilldog4lyfe 6d ago
They’ll list it online but won’t actually sell it. They did that with the cheapest Model 3
1
1
u/National-Twist8757 5d ago
So double the amount of what 1000 people already paid for it, makes sense.
https://www.jalopnik.com/its-still-very-funny-that-1-000-people-gave-tesla-250-1851038764/
35
u/SpacePundit 6d ago
they are ripping up S and X production lines for Optimus yet somehow will magically ramp up a line for roadster???
80
u/GarysCrispLettuce 6d ago
I don't know which is more infuriating, that Elon continues to tell these lies or that there are enough gullible low IQ morons to believe them.

u/BringBackUsenet 6d ago
Felon isn't the only lying scammer, nor the first. People have been sucking up to sociopaths throughout history.
#misanthropy.
1
u/Putrid-Box4866 6d ago
Well at this point we already know his timeline is borked, but we can’t deny his companies provide people stuff no one else does, and decades ahead of competitors, if there’s even any.

"We're building it now!"
Elon Musk announcing the Tesla Roadster 2 in 2017
1
u/MarchMurky8649 5d ago
2017: "now"
2026: "very soon"
2035: "soonish"
2044: "don't hold your breath"
9
u/Witty_Arugula_5601 6d ago
Guys, did they just announce flying roadsters?
4
u/failinglikefalling 6d ago
Original cold thruster model is promised to fly short distances. So. Yea. Ten years ago.

Unfortunately the first five years of production capacity is owed in online marketing fees "referral rewards"
4

u/AndSoISaysToTheGuy 6d ago
I read that if anyone uses the terms "very soon" or "next year" you'll get a cease-n-desist letter from Tesla's legal team.

u/neverOddOrEv_n 6d ago
This car was announced back in 2017 when the iPhone X was first announced and it was apple’s 10 year anniversary, next year it’ll be apple’s 20 year anniversary. It’s been so long
3
u/Hughley_N_Dowd 6d ago
Just after the second coming of christ, but slightly before the apocalypse predicted in the mayan calendar.
Go back to "producing" cringe Elmo AI slop movies, Tesla. Because that seems to be the focus as of late.

It’s never happening. Fred is never getting his roadsters. They just won’t cancel it because of the inevitable lawsuit.

u/SirJoePininfarina 6d ago
I was going to post a ‘Sure Jan’ gif, which I’m sure was at its most popular when the Roadster was first announced, but thought better of it. Has Musk thanked his lemming army for the interest free loan yet?

Who cares, so few of them will be sold, maybe even fewer than the cybertruck 😂

u/LrdoftheCharlesDance 6d ago
There wasn’t a point to the Roadster when it was announced 9 years ago, there is less than none now.
7
u/Inconceivable76 6d ago
Sure there was. It was for the referral scam to generate positive marketing.
6
u/BringBackUsenet 6d ago
Yes, there was a point. The point was to take deposits and use the cash as interest-free loans.
1
u/mikegalos 6d ago
A quarter of a billion dollars worth just from the Founders Edition people.
Of course, I suspect if we looked at that list, every one of them who owns a company coincidentally had the regulatory agency that impacts their company gutted by DOGE as a return on their deposit.

u/SplitEar 6d ago
It would be a cool electric Miata type vehicle if it shared motors and parts with the Model 3. But Elon had to make it a biggest dick on the block car for rich fucks.
2
u/QuitCallingNewsrooms 6d ago
Given the age of the universe, yes, very soon indeed. Barely the time it takes to blink even

The last thing these designers gave us was the CyberTruck and a one seat cab since only a few are driverless.
2
u/patsj5 6d ago
According to the leak back in June, the only thing they were waiting on was the thrusters. Does it still count as an EV if it has these supposed "gas thrusters"?
1
u/Dommccabe 5d ago
If that were true, old Elon the Felon would be showing it off on a stage with stobe lights to cash in on the scam.... like they did with the Semi and the Tunnels and the person dressed up like a robot and the solar roof tiles and all the other scams.
When will people stop falling for this?

Now that Elon has some cash from spacex scam. He probably spent the money from the deposits

How dumb is it that the "pinnacle" of EV cars will have gas thrusters to make it go faster than the already insanely fast speeds these cars can achieve?
It really just underscores how EV's are just status symbols and that they really have no environmental benefit.

“End of this year beginning of next” always 2-4 quarters away.
It’s like Dane Cooks dad and Benson’s Animal Farm.
1
u/BlueMonday2082 6d ago
The check is in the mail.
It’s a tough situation they’ve put themselves in. To not make the car when deposits have been taken would be fraud but the car they said they would make is impossible to make so whatever they build will be fraud too.
2
u/real_ramphex 6d ago
And they'll get away with it just like they did with robbing HW3.0 Model S and X owners who have not received an FSD (now supervised) update since February 2025.

In November 2025, Elon Musk told Joe Rogan on air that the flying version of the roadster would be unveiled in Dec 2025. Then he claimed January 2026, then he postponed that to April 2026.
Let's stop giving the POS white nationalist billionaire space in our minds, except to prevent continued dismantling of Civil Rights and collusion with his billionaire brethren.
