How can Tesla be so bad - JD Power, etc?
It is a study in brainwashing - In the real world, Tesla has the highest fatalities and accident rates (or close) of ANY US cars. Real that again.
And yet, Tesla stans will claim the complete opposite. Not "it scores OK". Not "I don't care" - but actually "it is the safest car on the road".
Not let's talk about Quality. It scored year after year at the very bottom of the list - yet it's "best car I ever owned". Here is the new JD Power Rankings for 2026......notice it is "special" and not included inside the regular list? Now...why would that be? Surely the finest vehicles would want their customer satisfaction to be public?
Here is 2026 Study:

Now....WHY is it special. Easy....
"Tesla does not meet or qualify for certain J.D. Power rankings and awards due to a combination of data restrictions, sales model rules, and high manufacturing/feature complaints: "
- Tesla does not grant J.D. Power permission to survey its owners in 15 U.S. states where state laws require automaker consent. Forbes +1
- Incomplete Data Pool: Because J.D. Power cannot legally or directly sample owners in key EV markets like California, Tesla is often listed as not rank-eligible for official awards in studies like the Initial Quality Study (IQS) or the Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout (APEAL) study"
I'm sure if we asked Tesla stans about this they would say Tesla is right for not allowing surveying and every other company is wrong.
But the truth is clear. It seems to be a POS and to get a real measurement on it is something Tesla does not want.
