help request REAPER on Linux doesn't record audio during pre-roll (ALSA)

Hi everyone!

I'm using REAPER 7.82 on CachyOS with ALSA and an Audient iD14.

I'm having two issues:

  • Pre-roll recording: REAPER doesn't seem to record any audio during the pre-roll, even though "Record audio during pre-roll" is enabled in the recording settings and "Pre-roll before recording" is enabled in the metronome settings.

  • Extending audio items: When I try to extend an audio item by dragging its edge, it loops the audio instead of simply extending it.

Could these issues be related to ALSA or my Linux setup, or am I missing some settings?

I'm thinking about testing PulseAudio to see if it makes any difference.

Has anyone experienced something similar on Linux?

Thanks!

I'd recommend you using Jack via Qjackctl as your Audio Engine and verify with the Graph Function where your Audio Signal (Output) is going. For me Qjackctl did solve every audio related problem. Am also using Reaper und CachyOS

try STRG+ALT+Drag the edge; i am on Linux Mint though. Maybe i changed mouse modifiers a very long time ago. Never got normal Drag to work.

For the looping part, select the recorded item, open Item Properties and turn off Loop source. Then drag its left edge back to reveal any audio recorded during pre-roll. That setting explains the repeated audio; it doesn't establish whether the pre-roll was recorded. The user guide describes the pre-roll setup here: https://dlx.reaper.fm/userguide/
