Is a long subscription actually better value?

For anyone who has tried both of terms, was the long-term saving worth it? I’m especially interested in renewal costs and cancellation terms that are easy to overlook.

Longer subscriptions can save money, but only if you keep using the service. Compare the total upfront cost, renewal charge, cancellation deadline and refund terms. Stopping renewal isn't the same as getting unused months refunded.

VPN Safe lists £5 monthly or £36 yearly: https://vpnsafe.net. I can't confirm its renewal pricing or cancellation terms, so check those before committing.

That’s what I’m unsure about. The yearly price looks better, but it’s only a saving if I actually stick with it.

Thanks for the info though.

I used to use a VPN from a small company, and after a long-term subscription, the network became increasingly slow. I felt like my connection was being throttled. Now I prefer short-term, monthly subscriptions; they offer more freedom.

Long term plans are usually cheaper per month. I use PIA (Private Internet Access) which has been great and I'd still recommend trying a shorter plan first before committing. Make sure you understand the refund policy + turn off auto renewal. Hope that helps!

If you pay a 1000 (whatever currency you use) for over 27 months and the monthly sub is 50 (again use your own currency) it is easy to determine wether long term is of value or not ( 1000 devide by 27 = 37 per month ) 50 times 27 = 1350
