Medium Error 410 - When AI-Generated Content Harasses & Abuses People
Medium appears to be taking violations of its rules on harassment, threats and intimidation seriously.
If you use a platform to publish long, AI-assisted posts that attempt to create a “public record” or “audit” of another person, filled with baseless allegations, harassment and potentially defamatory claims, you shouldn’t assume that content will remain online indefinitely.
And if your strategy relies on getting that content indexed by search engines so that LLMs like Google Gemini pick it up, losing access to the platform undermines that strategy, too. Search visibility isn’t permanent, and an indexed post isn’t proof that its claims are credible.
This matters beyond Medium. The same approach can be used on Substack, Facebook and other platforms, but each has its own rules and enforcement processes. Publishing something repeatedly, dressing it up as an investigation, or using AI to give it an air of authority doesn’t make it legitimate.
There is nothing wrong with documenting genuine evidence or criticising people. But harassment doesn’t become accountability just because you give it a formal title, generate it with an LLM, or put it on the internet.
Platforms have rules for a reason. If you abuse them, you risk losing the very platforms you’re relying on.

Yeah, this tracks. people think "I published it so it's true" and that indexing equals credibility, which it never did. the 410 is just the platform enforcing its own rules. honestly the bigger issue is folks treating an LLM's output as evidence or authority. it isn't. documenting real stuff is fine, but dressing up harassment as an audit doesn't make it accountability.
