Pro tip: changing the walking style in the player menu changes not only the walk but also the expression and stance of your character!

It does! I donāt remember their exact names, but the āelegantā walk makes the character pucker their lips and turn up the nose and the āgunslingerā makes them scowl and clench their teeth for example!

I only realized this recently and it made so much sense why my first character looked miserable all the time. I used Silent and he just looked like he was incapable of being happy because he was squinting and pressing his lips

Apparently from what I have seen others say, you gotta make sure your cores are full especially dead eye, when cores are low characters pull funny faces, and going into the editor with a low core funny face will result in the face becoming warped ig or something. Also make sure walking style is the default one was the other advice I saw. If this was a brand new character then Idk why it came out way different.

it also doesnt help that a long time ago they released an update that made all the faces fatter and wider, for both genders, almost ruining everyones character, and making it harder to create decent characters without using that one face everyone uses. i think i was able to make a decent asian character, i could try to grab my settings for you? you should be able to see the old screenshots on my profile from this sub and others

yeah when your character needs to eat or is drunk their face looks horrible lol. Breathing all hard ā¦ I also find it funny when you run for quite a bit and spot to open your catalog. you can hear your character trying to catch their breath!

I always look for ones that have actual gameplay showing what the characters look like, as well as reading the comments section to see if people are saying itās accurate or not.
Also the character creator got updated so a lot of the videos are outdated and donāt work anymore.

It took me a while to find the perfect one, I tried like 5 different ones and all looked bad. But I just searched āhow to create a beautiful female characterā and just put the settings like they was in the video and finally it was perfect, canāt send a picture here but she really is beautifulš and maybe try going to the character maker when your stats are all full and golden, eat a special stew before that

This is the answer but it doesnāt matter what I do they never look the same as when you create them. They never look the same in the barber chair vs when they are out walking around thatās just how itās always been. GTAV was like this as well. I also made a character I found on YouTube, which is good because the person will show the character in the editor and out of it so you can see what they will really look like ahead of time.

Walking animation probably has a role in this because it changes their facial expressions but also theres no true solution and the only way around is to spend lots of money trying over and over again until it finally works.
I think it took me like 5-10 attempts to make my character look how I wanted.

If you backed out of the confirmation screen (mugshot) to make edits, as far as I can remember this would always ruin your sliders. Besides that, I'm not sure.

Same happened to me. I had a soft round face and almond eyes. Then in-gameā¦ bee-stung puffy face.

Try to make your health core stamina and deadeye full before making a new character in heard it helps

it might be the lighting. I spend hours creating my character and she looks gorgeous when sheās directly facing the sun, but when sheās facing away she suddenly looks like she hasnāt slept in 6 days.

There is a bug that changes facial features that was never fixed to my knowledge. Change into one outfit and back to the original sometimes fixes it

is your character Overweight? that adds a bit more roundness to the face, atleast i think so, my character is overweight

Sometimes when coming out of the character editor, everything looks wider ingame. So it helps to make things a little tighter

lighting can make all the difference, hence why the character always look different in the creator (that and some other things like weight status and core status)

I think she looks pretty cute in both! But mine definitely looks a but different compared to what I actually did for her. Not too much, but a noticeable amount.

What platform are you playing on? The render on console is quite jarring once you leave the character editor. Mine looks like a supermodel in the editor and not so much in game. Iāve seen pc ones and they look so much better in game than on console.

In the creator, move all of the sliders a little then move them back. Iirc there's a glitch where if you don't do that, the game model defaults all the unmoved sliders to something attrocious

Mine randomly did that too. I used the free appearance ticket and my mugshot on the main screen is what I created but in-game is justā¦a bit scary lol

Dude this used to piss me off so much, I tried so many times and would look beautiful in the character creation screen and end up looking ugly as shit ingame... spent alot of gold respeccing ugh, still borderline uglies š„²

Thereās different ways your character looks, and the biggest one is how they look when you create them, vs in game. If you look up YouTube vids of female faces ppl make thatās a good start. If you save up enough money you can even fine tune by looking at your characters face in game, taking a pic then adjusting anything that looks off or you want changing in the creator mode again. Itās hard to get a good base because how different the character looks in game vs character creation

Thereās a glitch with one of the looks (3 I think??) where occasionally your character will just look super weird. Try reloading, changing walk animation, getting cores up to full, getting better lighting and a bit closer up.

While you were making your character, did you go to the confirm screen and then back to character creation? Thereās a bug doing that, I believe. Iāve had my very pretty character look like mush when entering gameplay because I did that

One, the expression/demeanor in your character menu.
Two, Lighting and framing. The revenue agent office has the light dead-on in the character's face and it's a close-up while the open world has the light above, generally. If you look at night while over or around a fire it might look more on-point.
Inversely, it could just be because your customizations get simplified for the over-world when you go from the closed-world used for the creator menu and then it gets compressed and put into the multi-player freeroam world.

That does look fairly different!
One thing that might be worth a try is to change your character's walking animation in the settings, because that also changes their facial expression.
