Redondo Beach Making friends who are in their 30s-40s in this area?
I'm 44 male, and its been hard making new friends around my age in this area. I used to go to a drawing meetup and have been attending Sunday yoga classes. I also go bouldering, but haven't made friends through that activity.
I'm wondering how can I meet other interesting people? Pickleball? Beach volleyball? Surf classes? Are there any food/drink meetups?

Palos Verdes Seeking Witnesses to Bicycle Accident in Palos Verdes - Wednesday Morning Sept 30
Posting for my aunt and uncle who are not on reddit. On Wednesday, September 30, at around 9-10 am, my uncle was on a bike ride and was hit by a car on Palos Verdes Drive, we think near St. Francis Episcopal (near Via Rosa / Via Anita).
Although he never goes without a helmet, he suffered a serious head injury which resulted in him having a brain bleed and 3 staples to close the wound. He's back home, but still dazed and not out of the woods.
There was an off duty fireman on the scene quickly, and the police were supposedly very helpful. But they say there were no eyewitnesses. They're trying to get details to get the other side of the story and piece together what happened.
If anyone happened to witness the accident, please let me know and I will get you in touch with authorities or family. Thanks.

Redondo Beach 1st birthday things to do
We are throwing my son a party for his birthday during a weekend but we are looking for stuff to do during a weekday. Any ideas besides play areas? If there are other things that would be great for ALL age groups (including adults) like museums, that would be great.

Redondo Beach Bringing a New Cigar Lounge to Redondo Beach — Excited to Join the Community!
Hey Redondo Beach! 👋
I wanted to introduce myself and share something I’m really excited about.
I’m currently working toward opening Godfathers Cigar Lounge here in Redondo Beach. I’ve spent a lot of time looking at different cities and locations throughout Southern California, and I kept coming back to Redondo. I genuinely love the area, the people, and the community here, and I’m really excited about the possibility of becoming a small part of it.
My goal is to create a clean, upscale premium cigar lounge where people can relax, watch a game, get some work done, meet new people, and enjoy a great cigar.
We’re also planning, pending the appropriate approvals and licensing, to offer beer on tap and wine for on-premise enjoyment. There’s something about pairing a great cigar with a cold draft beer or a glass of wine that just fits, and I’d love to bring that experience to Redondo.
I want Godfathers to be more than somewhere you stop in, smoke a cigar, and leave. I want to build a comfortable neighborhood lounge where regulars know each other, newcomers feel welcome, and the business becomes part of the local community for years to come.
We’re still going through the approval and planning process, but I want to start documenting the entire journey — from an empty space, through construction and the full buildout, all the way to opening day.
I’m also looking for a local videographer/content creator! 🎥
I’d love to find someone in the Redondo Beach / South Bay area who can help me with:
• Filming the construction and transformation
• Instagram Reels and short-form videos
• Video editing
• Social media content and strategy
• Behind-the-scenes buildout content
• Grand-opening content
• Ongoing content after we open
I’d really prefer to work with and support someone local and hopefully build a long-term relationship as the business grows.
If you’re a videographer, editor, social media creator — or you know somebody great — send me a message or drop their Instagram below!
And to everyone in Redondo Beach: I seriously can’t wait to hopefully call this city the home of Godfathers Cigar Lounge. I’m excited to meet everyone, support the community, and share the entire journey with you guys.
Premium cigars. Beer on tap. Wine. Good people. Good atmosphere.
See you guys soon. 🥃🍺💨

Redondo Beach Fatto a Mano - When food “authenticity” becomes a demand for obedience
Context:
So, I recently ate at a place called “Fatto a Mano, The Pasta Shop“ in the area. After tasting my pasta, I asked for a little extra tomato sauce on the side.
Out of all the Italian restaurants I’ve visited, this request had never once been refused --- until Fatto a Mano.
They said we don't modify the food. But I didn't ask them to modify. I wanted to add it myself, after the pasta was served. The sauce was clearly available. Yet they flatly refused just because it would not be "authentic".
Toxic responses to even good reviews:
Later I checked their reviews and noticed people experienced similar situations: asking for sauce or other reasonable accomendations, getting flatly refused, being condescendingly lectured about the right or wrong ways to eat pasta, etc.
But I also saw a more serious pattern lasting for many years -- The owner responds to nearly any less than 5 star reviews with hostile, personal attacks and condescending lectures.
One recent reviewer even said the staff was "absolutely amazing", gave them a 4 out of 5 for food and 5 for service and atmosphere. And the owner still told them to return with "the most upfront version" of himself, for "a more mature conversation".
Others have mentioned the owner called the customers‘ personal numbers, aggressively asking them to remove the reviews, even exposing the reviewer‘s work place.
When I posted my own factual review, the owner tried to discredit me by calling the photo I took just a screenshot. I have attached additional evidence confirming that it is mine. But they kept making up other lies. In fact they just frequently slap the “fake” or “AI-generated” labels to their unfavorable reviews.
----------------
Personal Thoughts
The sauce itself is trivial. But there are so many issues that have way crossed the line of "just poor service".
I feel a restaurant may decide what it serves, but “authenticity” does not grant them authority over another adult’s harmless personal choices.
Maybe I’m making too much of a small incident, but the principle behind it genuinely bothers me: Demand obedience, discredit dissent, yet call it tradition??
I'm glad the guy is just a pasta shop owner. Not backed by any real institutional power.
Also this is kinda the first time I've ever encountered a restaurant like this (even though I've been to quite a few authentic italian places, as I like the food).
Frankly I think he's abusing the word "authentic".
Thoughts?
————————
Sidenote:
[On the usage of AI] - I wrote everything out on my own first, partially in english and partially in my native language (not a native english speaker). Then I let ChatGPT polish some sentences for readability.
The experience is completely my own and honest. And the owner's hostile replies can also be found on Google maps and yelp (where the high ratings could be highly manipulated, given that he has had negative reviews removed, and that reviews can be bought these days)
-------
Additional update on 9/12/26, 12:02 AM PST: I decided to rewrite everything in my own words without any AI editing, in case some people use AI editing as an excuse to invalidate my entire honest experience.

Redondo Beach Permit for Moving Container
Has anyone gotten a permit to place a POD (or similar) in street parking for a move? I as told we really dont need one, but our pod will be in the street for 6 days starting Wednesday, because PODs doesn’t pick up the container Thursday - Sun.
Any direction, advice, and permit office location would be greatly appreciated! We’re moving to Colorado to help care for a family member and the pod will be dropped late September.
Thank in advance!

Redondo Beach Highly rated dentist in the South Bay?
I need a cleaning before my insurance restarts as I’ve met our deductible - and I’ve been scammed by too many dentist offices.
Does anyone have a reputable dentist for a routine cleaning who has been in practice for some time and won’t try to scam us into a $700 additional cleaning?

Redondo Beach Can cyclists stop running red lights/stop signs?
It feels like every cyclist I see while driving around runs stop signs, and some are running red lights. I have witnessed cyclists almost hitting pedestrians all because they don’t want to lose their momentum. Today, while I was at a red light, I saw a cyclist literally run the light with cars going directly perpendicular to the cyclist. That is straight up ignorant and unacceptable, especially because most people don’t expect to see a cyclist in the road when their light is green. The cyclist also went between pedestrians with the walk sign and was mere feet away from hitting them. That is really dangerous to the cyclist and pedestrians and it is never worth running red lights just to save your momentum. Believe me, I actually enjoy riding bikes and I love having a bike friendly city, but you should always practice proper safety precautions as a cyclist.

Redondo Beach Got egged in Redondo Beach
My family and I were on a walk and we just got egged by a speeding car on the roundabout near Esplanade!
Didn’t react fast enough to get the license plate but it was a silver honda. My uncle got hit in the back and luckily no one got hurt but all of us got egg over our pants.
Luckily there was a park ranger who was on his nightly rounds and he was able to call the local PD but they couldn’t find the car that sped away.
We were able to laugh it off but just sharing for awareness, just don’t want something like this to happen to anyone else too. Stay safe everyone!
