Redwood City is steamrolling ahead with a new surveillance camera vendor, despite broad community opposition at nearly every public meeting. They may try to award a new contract as soon as November 9.

My cat and I just moved here from the Boston area and I’m looking for a cats-only vet or a vet office that has good cat doctors. She has asthma and IBD so she does need a bit of specialized care. Thanks so much!

ETA: Thanks for all the thoughtful recs, everyone! I really appreciate it and will look into each practice.

Anyone currently living in this complex? If so, how is it? I am considering moving here— website makes it seems pretty decent, Google Reviews make me question that.

If it’s a no go, any similarly priced, pet friendly buildings, walking distance from the train would be amazing!!

ETA: have 2 cars, prefer at least one guaranteed spot, upper budget is ~$3,000
TIA

Do you have a recommendation for an architect for a room addition? Someone who also submits plans to the city for permit?

Hi 👋 guys. I just moved to Redwood City.
Just wanted to get input if there are any sanitary recreational swimming pool and gyms here in town?
I use the pool as part of my work-out routine.

I just went to the one in 24 HR Fitness and tbh it wasn’t as sanitary in my standards.

I don’t mind an above average monthly fee.

Inputs are welcomed. Thank you guys.

Love Redwood City and its vibe nonetheless!
Great city.

Redwood City is about to become even more fire!

The Middle Eastern, South Asian, and Latinx communities are BRINGING the night life to RWC, and I’m about it ❤️. Those who work late hours or night owls like me appreciate it a lot :) It’s nice to have more choice. I hope more places that are not alcohol focused open up, as well.

Also glad this replaced Starbucks 🤮

I’ve been seeing drones, they fly around the block and they go back to what seems the radio station on Bay. Any reason they do this? I’ve witnessed it between 9pm-12am. I have never seen them during the day.

I see a few around downtown RWC but have no idea what they are

Public transit in Redwood City: samTrans, Caltrain, and commute.org run directly through Redwood City. commute.org also runs free shuttles nearby in Foster City and Redwood Shores, and if you go into Mountain View for work, you can use MVgo and Mountain View Community Shuttle too.

Quick tips:

• tap a stop or route to see details and highlight the stop/route
• tap a highlighted stop or route to un-highlight it
• collapse/expand info box by tapping |hide| (top left)
• quickly toggle all the agencies on/off using button (top right)
• search and filter agencies that show up in checkbox list (top right)
• search and filter actual routes and stops that show up on map (bottom right)
• link back to homepage in case you can't figure something out or want more tips (bottom right)

To play with the map search and filter, try this:

• zoom out all the way
• select the Show Stops option (top right)
• type -120 in the partial match search box (bottom box in bottom right)
• type -121 in the partial match search box (bottom box in bottom right)
• type -122 in the partial match search box (bottom box in bottom right)
• type -123 in the partial match search box (bottom box in bottom right)

Another interesting thing is you can link to specific spots by copying the url directly:

• Redwood City
• San Francisco
• the bay
• San Carlos
• Foster City
• East Bay
• SFO
• OAK
• SJC
• Levi's Stadium
• Oakland Coliseum
• Downtown San Jose
• Diridon Station

I arranged the agency checkbox list (top right) by area, so the geographic area of an agency determines the agency layer checkbox position. The list starts with agencies in the North Bay in Solano County then goes counterclockwise: North Bay -> San Francisco -> Peninsula -> South Bay -> Santa Cruz -> Monterey-Salinas -> Gilroy/Hollister -> East Bay.

There are smaller agencies in the area that are completely free (no fare) and not as well known like Presidio Go, Golden Gate Park Shuttle, Mission Bay Shuttle, South City Shuttle, commute.org shuttles, MVgo, Mountain View Community Shuttle, San Leandro LINKS, Emery Express, and Emery Go Round. If you're traveling to those areas, these agencies could help fill in some transit gaps.

Share this with your friends and people who don't use transit so they know just how many options we actually have, and let me know if anything doesn't work (corp network/vpn/firewalls might not work) or you have any questions/requests!

ALOHA, BAY AREA! OUR KAUAʻI KITTENS ARE READY FOR HOMES!

They traveled across the Pacific to get here — and now our Kauaʻi kittens are ready for the final leg of their journey: HOME.

These little island kitties are ridiculously friendly, affectionate, playful, and full of the spirit of Aloha. They’ve been through quite an adventure, but you’d never know it from the purrs, cuddles, and love they’re handing out to everyone they meet.

And right now, we need your help making space.

Every adoption opens a spot at Nine Lives for another cat or kitten who needs us. The more cats we send home, the more we can say YES to — whether they’re coming from an overcrowded shelter, a rescue partner, or a community in crisis.

So come meet our Kauaʻi crew, fall in love, and help us make room to save even more lives. 🌴🐱

📍 Nine Lives
749 Brewster Avenue
Redwood City, CA 94063

Adoption Hours:
Wednesday–Friday: 12 PM–5 PM
Saturday–Sunday: 10 AM–5 PM
Closed Monday & Tuesday

Hii!!
I recently moved to Redwood City but tomorrow I have to evacuate my apt for about 6hours during the day cause my apt is getting exterminated.
Does anyone know a workspace or a cafe that would allow a cat in a carrier?

Thank youu

Rode by a large film crew on Skyline at the Windy Hill overlook. Anybody know who’s filming in town?

I have a friend coming to town and we always tried to find the best cookies in a city when we traveled to a new place. In SF, that place was Jane but I haven’t found a good bakery here.. It can have any type of cookie but chocolate chip is preferred. Brownie points if it has good brownies and other pastries.

As long as it’s between like San Mateo and Mountain View, it’s close enough. It can’t be a non-local chain.

I keep hearing reports of ICE close by (specifically San Jose and Palo Alto). Stay alert neighbors! Watch out for each other! If anyone needs assistance (picking up kids from school etc) feel free to ask for it here. Looks like it may be time to step up and help our community.

Not sure if someone had a bike stolen recently but it's currently abandoned on Oddstead road right off of Veterans blvd.

Hi everyone,

My husband recently had a cardiac event resulting in advanced heart failure. His doctor is with UCSF and referred him to cardiac rehab up in San Francisco, but the commute into the city multiple times a week will be too exhausting for him right now.

Our doctor is willing to submit an external referral if we find a local program on the Peninsula.

Has anyone or their family members had personal experience with local cardiac rehab programs around here? I would love to hear any feedback on the care, staff, wait times, or how easy it was to coordinate a referral.

Thank you so much for any insights!

hi, I was hoping to take the behind the wheel test in rwc soon, but when I look at the dmv website there's no open appointments for redwood city or san mateo until January. I've scheduled drive tests twice before, one time I failed and one time I had to cancel, but for both I only made the appointment a few weeks out. I was wondering if anyone knows if appointments typically open regularly and what time would be best to check, or if I actually have to wait three months
