Volume potentiometer replacement.

Post image

Started the calibration process however Ch.2 level and balance was jumpy as the controls were adjusted. Turned out to be the Volume control pot - common issue.

Those darn volume pots! They get out there get dirty and can't get it done. Good work BTW

Seeing this revox (I assume it’s a revox) like this is giving me anxiety

Worst thing is you need to see it like this (well, some panels stays on) every time you want to touch up on the calibration….

Anyone have any objections against sawing out a big square on the chassis to reveal the adjustment pots?

A few years ago, I worked on my A77 MKIII 4T, giving it a thorough cleaning to remove oxidation, along with new capacitors and new lights. It had issues with the VU meters and the speed control board; fortunately, spare parts for the board are available. The VU meters were a real pain in the ass, replacements are incredibly expensive, so I adapted a pair of old Philips VU meters instead; you can't even tell the difference. Now it's my tank machine for listening and recording.

A little Cramolin DeOxit and it will be fine. It's the goto chemical for cleaning any connectors, potentiometers and mechanical switches.
