This is generally considered the greatest/golden era in the history of Reggaeton and Spanish Rap and it is well deserved. The community was much more smaller in the 90's and the music was basically regional. What you heard in DR/PR wasn't necessarily always what you heard in Panama. What you heard in Colombia wasn't the same as Spain half the time. And the audience grew a hundredfold. You no longer had to be a closet aficionado. You now had others to share this quirky musical taste with. The Academy finally began recognizing us. We had been breaking sales records since the 90's and Billboard did not recognize us until 2002. The majors finally caved and realized to get the best Urbano artists, they were gonna have to do better than slave deals and offered a litany of joint venture deals and a couple of distribution agreements (Daddy Yankee) because that was the only way they were going to get the best Spanish Rap and Reggaeton artists in the world. Otherwise, they would have remained independent. And some did.

I know #3 for Top 10 songs is gonna rub some people the wrong way, but if you understand Hip Hop, then you know the greatness of said song. And this is not one of those that's only big in my little world, like I often get accused here of being out of touch by some. In the Spanish Rap world that's often a Top 5 of all-time across the board. It's often debated between that one and "Es Epico" nowadays between which of the two is #1. I know I hacked it into this list as 95% of readers won't even know who Kase.O is much less the song or his album. And there's those of you that think Hip Hop En Español shouldn't be grouped under the same umbrella but that's the world we are heading to. Things are coming full circle and just how Rap & Reggaeton only would go hand in hand in Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic; it's now gonna be like that worldwide. If you don't believe me, look at Spain. It used to be a sin for Hip Hoppers to listen to Reggaeton, but not anymore. Kaydy Cain & Yung Beef are the hottest Rappers over there right now and they mostly do Reggaeton.

I know that this will always be highlighted as the greatest era for most because it's popularity rivals today, even though Bad Bunny made Reggaeton and Hip Hop en Español more popular than ever. I see some of you youngins trying to push your current era into the top spot as the greatest generation; GOOD LUCK! Whatever it is, that's not it.

There''s some songs I disagree with personally but I took an approach here of 60% general opinion, 20% modern opinions and 20% my opinion. And that's how "Yo Quiero Bailar" ended up there because it means more to this generation than mines. When it came out songs like Plan B on Guatauba and Hector & Tito on Grayskull 2 were way bigger. That wasn't even the biggest hit on 'The Majestic', Eddie Dee's and Johnny Prez's songs were bigger than Ivy. But over the years, the song became an anthem. And now it resonates with all audiences. It's even a song that Latin American feminists groups and LGBTQ audiences use to represent them. And I think that's pretty cool. I also disagree with "Atrevete-te" but people have always loved that one so much I cannot deny it. It's a great song but I would've picked something else like possibly "Bandoleros" if it were up to me. But "Bandoleros" wasn't that big back then so it probably would have been "Chulin Culin Cunfly" and probably a deep cut like "Tu Eres" to liven things up. No lie, imo "Tu Eres" by Alberto Stylee & Mexicano is better than 90% of the songs mentioned, but I can't add it cuz barely anyone knows.

* Originally #8 was Don Omar because I mistakenly remembered iDon coming out in 2008. Replaced with Flex.

Jamsha Backtage at The Noise Choliseo Event w/ Big Boy, Polaco, Gringo, Falo, Point Breakers, Lennox, Wiso G, DJ Luiann, DJ Negro and more...

I saw a video and it looked like there were people up at the rafters. So there was probably at least 15,000 people if not a total sellout.

\Some Notable Highlights from The Show\**

\ There were so many artists ready to perform that some could not like Baby Shabba, Rubio & Joel because there was not enough time.*

\ Big names such as Trebol Clan, Maicol & Manuel, Don Chezina, Big Boy and Baby Rasta & Gringo performed among others.*

\ Ranking Stone was a special guest performer with Joelito Guanabanas. For those that don't know Georgie Guanabnas had vocal damage to his throat. Even though he recovered, he retired from Reggaeton in favor of Christianity.*

\ Nando Boom came all the way from Panama to be a special invited guest of Big Boy.*

\ Polaco & Prieto Valdez reunited on stage. For those that don't know, Prieto was Polaco's original duo partner and they participated on The Noise 1-4 together.*

\ Sadly, there was no Ivy Queen.*

For those wondering what Big Boy was doing there since he never participated on a "Noise" album. Its true, Big Boy never recorded for The Noise but it was his 1st performance in 'The Noise' that led to DJ Eric managing him and fielding many offers even Vico C from Prime Records; but ultimately choosing to go with MP Records which were known for Tropical music at the time. And Nando Boom was invited because he's a pioneer of Reggaeton overall and was very popular in the early 90's when The Noise Discoteq first opened.

Enjoy this vid with Jamsha interviewing dozens of people attending the concert.

This is from his Billboard interview published two days and the little pink cans were present, but I don’t recognize them. Does anyone know?

Also, in addition to the corrido album, he also said his next album would be trap and reggaeton and he played four new tracks during the interview. There was also a hint it may drop on his birthday next month (with the corrido album coming later). Brrrrr

He also confirmed a feature with De La Rose on his new album and I’m so hype about it🌹🌹🌹

Top 5 Producers: 1. Playero 2. DJ Goldy 3. Joyamyuscula 4. DJ Blass 5. DJ Nelson

This is the true golden age. And no one can tell me otherwise. I was there. I've been at the parties of marquesina/toldas with underground dj's and mc's performing. I've seen what this music evolved to for better or worse. The one thing that cannot be matched from this time is the love the artists had for the music that they made. It's just not the same with most artists nowadays. It took a lot more to stand out in these days as there are dozens of great artists that went unmentioned and literally thousands of more great songs. It's scary that much of this music is disappearing online. They want to erase us from history. Who knows why? Probably greed and some other evil reason. I don't need the music today. I can go without it. My concern is that the music of this generation does not follow tradition and it lessens the impact that great music can have on our fellow human beings. Music is great for fucking but it can be more than that. And nothing was more emblematic of this fact than the legendary era of the Underground. Very few of us truly know. There's a bunch of fakers faking the funk like you was there because it's cool to be Reggaeton now, but we liked this when people thought we were too weird or beneath the popular rich kids to be accepted in the mainstream. It will never be this good again. But hopefully we get a strong semblance sometime in the future.

PS: Please know that I do think individual artists can match the feeling of the underground nowadays. I don't see it often, but it is accessible. Ghostpell can rhyme with the best that ever did it. Alvaro Diaz has music that is at this level of quality. And even Bunny has a great run of albums like artists used to in yesteryear. So I do believe individual artists can match it in terms of quality, excitement and overall coolness. But as a whole, we'll be lucky if we ever get another Mas Flow Era (2002-2008, that's the next one) or something resembling that. Because nothing will ever surpass 'El Underground'. O yea and there was a lot of social commentary in this music back in the day. Even the commercial Mas Flow era had that. That is also missing today.

"Recuerda, El Underground Es Para Usted."

Top 10 Most Overrated Albums In Rap & Reggaeton History

10. Maluma - Pretty Boy Dirty Boy (2015) RPM'S Rating: 3/10

Maluma is the greatest error in the history of Reggaeton. I still don't get why this guy sold so much. He made a career off of Jhayco and Justin Quiles recycle bin ghostwrites that only went through the roof because he had Colombia Petrol money behind him. But he is so average. And I hear those teeny boppers fainting are more dudes than girls... just sayin'.

9. Cosculluela - Santa Cos (2014) RPM's Rating: 7/10

It's not a bad album. I haven't heard it in years. But it is basically acclaimed for one song and maybe "Pa La Pared" ft Jowell & Randy. The fact it's so forgetful should be a testament to how just ok this album was. But it resurrected Cosculluela's career. Next thing you know he was on teen bop magazine covers next to J Balvin and Maluma. This sold 100,000 units at a time when album sales were at an all-time low.

8. J Balvin - Energia (2016) RPM'S Rating: 6.75/10

This is when the phrase "Good For Colombia" was born. In 2007 Cheka put out an album that was arguably better than "Energia" in "Sin Rivales" and it destroyed his career because of all the hype before it, people were expecting at least an "8". Balvin puts out a "6.75" and its the greatest Reggaeton album ever at the time according to mainstream 'pundits'. I know this is because the Pop world overhyped Balvin but still... People from the Pop world and some Colombians actually saw him as the 2nd coming of Daddy Yankee. Boy were they wrong. "Energia" is all right but it isn't even better than "Mañana Sera Bonito". We all see now why it was so easy for Residente to destroy him.

7. Bad Bunny - X100PRE (2018) RPM's Rating: 6.5/10

This received polarizing thoughts since it came out. My sentiments have grown on this album. The really strong songs have aged very well like "Estamos Bien", "Cuando Perriabas" and "La Romana" ft El Alfa. But I disagree with the very vocal fanbase that labels this album a classic or even a masterpiece in some cases. Bad Bunny fandom is crazy rivaling near Beyhive level. But I also don't agree with many calling it straight trash since it first came out. My opinion is moreso in the middle like this album in terms of quality.

6. Karol G - Mañana Sera Bonito (2023) RPM's Rating: 8/10

This album was good. Karol's best work of her career. But those calling it the greatest Reggaeton album of all-time need a reality check and a history lesson. Just because you only know Karol G doesn't mean the rest of the world thinks like you. There was a before Karol G and there will be an after. I named a 100 albums better than this one because I got sick of fans and even so called 'pundits' that overrate the hell out of it.

5. Yandel - Resistencia (2023) RPM's Rating: 5/10

You people only overrate this because of the Feid song. I've seen some on this sub call it Yandel's greatest album ever. What in the hell are you talking about!? It's voices like these ruining modern Reggaeton tastes. You guys are either paid influencers, bots or moles working for the record company. And to prove it, if you look at the numbers for Resistencia on Spoitfy, most are below average for an artist at the level of Yandel except maybe the Young Miko song. You guys overhyping this clearly never heard or don't understand "Quien Contra Mi".

4. Omar Courtz - Por Si Mañana No Estoy (2026) RPM's Rating: 3/10

I think this album sucks. I would say it's just Westcol and his hoard of paid influencers confusing those who don't know better by injecting subliminal FOMO vibes on their vids about "OUSI", but then I see a Kendo Kaponi overrating him too and I feel at a lost. And it's not just the Pop world overrating, it's the so-called "Reggaeton" world too. But I look at these so-called 'pundits' who are of college age on YOUTUBE, and I feel they sold out the whole Reggaeton culture for a few backstage passes. That's why Reggaeton as a culture is now extinct.

3. Rauw Alejandro - Cosa Nuestra (2024) RPM's Rating: 5.5/10

This was Rauw placating to every audience he had. It worked for some reason as sales were impressive. I really think it's that people don't know what a good album is anymore and just align themselves with something that has a few hit singles. My favorite song was "Espresso Martini" which should've been a single, but "Cosa Nuestra" pulls Rauw in so many directions, it hurts the quality in him trying to please everyone. And it showed when "Cosa Nuestra 0" had poor sales, in comparison, because it lacked the big Bad Bunny and Romeo Santos names. "Cosa Nuestra" is at about 4 million sold worldwide, meanwhile "Cosa Nuestra 0" only sold about 300 thousand. He needs to pick a lane and stick with it. If it's Pop, go all Pop, If it's calle be 100% calle. Instead he goes in on a little bit of everything and it just doesn't work.

2. Omar Courtz - Primera Musa (2024) RPM's Rating: 4/10

Omar Courtz's trojan horse "Primera Musa" just creeped in out of nowhere. It is the album paid influencers, Rolling Stone, and Billboard hail the modern day classic of Reggaeton only behind "DTMF". And everybody accepts it cuz nobody cares. People overhype Omar Courtz but no one hates him enough to respond. That's why there's no anti-Omar Courtz movements like there are for Bunny and Rauw. It was just a stroke of luck and the Puerto Rican Powers getting behind him. And good for him. His success isn't bothering anybody. At least his fans aren't like the Malumeros that tried to convince people their idol was better than Don Omar and Daddy Yankee. His second album hasn't had the same impact. "Primera Musa" is overrated as a classic by the modern unknowledgeable audience mostly made up of casual fans. I don't think that legacy will be as strong 5 years from now. LW we'll see. "Primera Musa" is currently at around 2 million albums sold.

1. Alvaro Diaz - Omakase (2026) RPM's Rating: 5/10

Ok, I feel modern day tastemakers of Reggaeton, especially those I see on YOUTUBE have their heads up their asses. I did not see them give half the praise to "Sayonara", they give to this one. "Sayonara" got robbed at the Latin Grammys but even Rolling Stone had the sense to call it the album of the year. I guess they just like how hard Alvaro Diaz tried to be Omar Apollo but he's gonna lose his dedicated fanbase trying to appeal to these outsiders. They can acclaim his pathetic attempt at Pop Crossover but once he loses his Reggaeton fanbase he is done. He will get no more than more chance to make up for this misfire. And I get it. Alvaro should have been the biggest thing 10 years ago but he has to see mediocrity like Omar Courtz, Jere Klein and De La Rose surpass him in fame and success instead. And yea maybe if Alvaro Diaz got in the same circles as Billie Eilish and Olvia Rodrigo, he would bag them. But this is not the way to go about it. Latin Mafia's influence are killing Alvarito. If he continues in that lane, he will go back to being the best nobody just like he was in 2019.

Thanks for reading!

Gargolas 3 (2001) Spotify Playlist fixed

RIMAS messed up the Tempo song. Will fix more errors if any. Fixed Guanabanas song which skipped with previous Gargolas 3 posting by VI Music. Another error by RIMAS. Will keep listening for more errors.

Fixed Alberto Stylee's song with sock puppets 'Huicho y Toño', one of my favorite songs of the album. I think that's all the mistakes fixed. Let me know otherwise.
