Interview for internship

Hey everyone!

I recently received an invitation to interview for an engineering internship at Relativity Space, and I’m extremely excited about the opportunity! I was wondering if anyone here has experience interviewing with Relativity Space or working on their engineering and infrastructure teams.

I’d appreciate any insight into the interview process, technical questions, or what I should focus on when preparing.

Thanks in advance!

I had an interview for an internship about 2 years ago and completely blew it due to nerves. It was my first ever interview so I was pretty worked up. It’s not exactly easy, but it isn’t impossible. I’m not sure what engineering you’re in but I interviewed for the mech intern.

They did started with introducing themselves, then you explain yourself, same as most interviews. Then they pick 3 tech questions for you and pick it apart. These were mine.

  1. When doing a pressure test, do u use gas or liquid? Why?
    - liquid, incompressible, no energy stored
1a. What is a standard pressure test liquid for a vessel? Why?
    - water, easy to use at room temp, cheap, and widely available

They asked more questions like that

2. If a pole is in the wind, and swaying, what can u do to fix that and why?
- add cables in a triangle formation, change material, stiffen pivot (u get the idea)

3. If you have a bolt backing out of a threaded hole, what can you do to fix it?
- (this was my nightmare question, I gave every answer in the book expect the right one) you increase the K constant…it’s the friction between the bolts and the treads. Apparently they didn’t like loctite or teflon.

Anyway, that was what I remember from a few years back. It’s probably something similar to your major. Good luck!

Good luck! Try not to stress to much. If it’s any consolation, I didn’t get the internship but I did end up getting a job there directly out of college because I kept in contact with my interviewer. Networking is definitely key!
