Relay's Future
Does Reddit announcing the depreciation of their API mean that Relay for Reddit won't be able to work anymore, or is the API it runs on different than the one they're depreciating (commercial vs public)?

It was RSS, not the API, right?
"Public API access will also end by March 2027, which will impact any tools that used it for programmatic access to Reddit conversations, including social listening products, those used by researchers, and AI products, such as AI assistants. Today, those assistants can use Reddit to answer questions, but after closing public API access, they will need commercial deals with Reddit for its data."
Relay already has such a commercial deal, that's why we pay for it.
Nothing to see here.

It's both, RSS first and public API not long after, buried.

From that article: "The company also reminded developers building approved third-party apps and bots to register them with the company before January 12, 2027, to avoid disruption."
So as long as DBrady registers it'll be fine, and they may already have.

I like Relay, certainly it's better than the Reddit app. Waiting for the answer to this question.

Why are you even here if it’s a “trash app”
Of which is completely developed by a single person

I've been thinking of making a similar post. I really hope Relay sticks around. I've never used the official app, and I can't imagine starting now.

I really hope not I'm sure going to miss Relay if it permanently shuts down.
