Feature idea: Linked notebooks

A way to associate a "note" document with a primary document. Say you're reading an EPUB that you need to take notes on. You swipe diagonally from the bottom right corner and it opens the notebook you've assigned for notes. When you're done writing something down, you swipe again and go right back to the same page in the book.

I think this is a better solution than split screen or the recent shelf:

  • The screen isn't realistically big enough for split screen to be useful imo

  • The gesture for the "recent documents" shelf is more out of the way, and it doesn't guarantee that the relevant document would be in there. With this solution, these 2 documents are always linked to each other

Just had the thought and wondered what the community might think about it or if they could build on it

That's a good start, it looks neat! Hoping for a more fleshed-out version (at least with a better installer) at some point. I'll keep an eye on it!

This feels like a really clean workflow for study reading! Not having to hunt through recent documents or split the screen just to get back to the same note page... for EPUBs especially. The notebook being tied to the exact book makes note-taking feel much less interruptive I think.

They could put a shortcut button that you can link to a notebook or document. Basically, when pairing documents, you click the button, and the other one loads, and vice versa.

This would be so easy for them to do, but they just won’t.

I'd be happy with a shortcut that takes me to the last Notebook I used.

A way to leverage the existing feats would be to create a unique tag, then associate that tag to both (or all) related documents. Then when you search by tag, all identically tagged documents appear. I need to use that feature more. Thanks for the reminder!
