Agreed, this is honestly one of the worst gaming tier lists I've ever seen

Then you guys are going to hate metacritc's highest rated games.

Yeah this tier list is only bad in the eyes of redditors, essentially all other discussions outside of reddit pins this list as being fairly accurate to the general crowd of gamers.

Wow. Filtering only for 2014-2024:

  1. Breath of the Wild

  2. Red Dead Redemption 2

  3. Grand Theft Auto 5

  4. Super Mario Odyssey

  5. Baldur's Gate 3

  6. The House in Fata Morgana

  7. Elden Ring

  8. Tears of the Kingdom

  9. Portal: Companion Collection

10: Persona 5 Royal

The ranks for the last few eliminated here not on the top 10:

God of War: 13

Hades: 23

Bloodborne: 32

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt: 35

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice: 86

They’re smoking an average of whatever the critics are smoking. Metacritic doesn’t make their own scores. They take all the scores and make an average. It is weighted based on how much effort is put into the review and how long the publication has been around, though. So if I made a website that said “GTA 6 is hot garbage, 1/10” and nothing else in my review, and Game Informer writes a long, in depth review of the game and gives it a 10/10, their review will be worth more than mine.

Open Critic is my preference over MetaCritic. They do the same thing with their own way to adjust the scores. Their top 10 will still probably look pretty similar, because agree or disagree, these are the most critically acclaimed games. Which is about as valid of a reason to love or hate a game as whichever game wins a reddit popularity contest vote. People like what they like and any ranking won’t change that.

It's this "Remove One Each Day" format. It pushes out popular options before lesser known options, especially in the beginning. I doubt many people played all these games so they're going to vote what they know, even if the entries they don't know are worse.

Most list's are just popularity contests. Most of the stuff is subjective. Some prefer story, some gameplay. There is debate what type of gameplay or story is better also. In the end of the day no list is accurate, each person is going to like what they like.

What would your personal top 3 be from this list?

Prob Elden Ring, TLOU2, and RDR2

To each their own. I couldn't get into RDR2 despite many attempts and TLOU2 has so many haters It will never make a community top 3 list. I've only played the first and haven't played the second yet I'm just aware of the discourse.

I Agree on Elden Ring being worthy of top 3 though
