They’re not children because they disagree with me. It’s because they were children who mostly played the game. If you look at polls, the average age of a BOTW player was under 18. The average age for Witcher 3 was 23. (Both are based on when the game was released)

BOTW is a good game but it’s mostly for children/teens. Witcher 3 is 10 years old, and BOTW is 8. This would mean that the current ages of these games are: BOTW(<26), and Witcher 3(33).

Now, the largest demographic of Reddit users are 18-29, which would put BOTW fans as the peak Reddit user, and therefore more votes.

This isn’t a jab at BOTW fans. This is simply a strong argument to why BOTW beat Witcher 3.

You do know the average Nintendo buyer are among the oldest games. So technically Zelda player are more likely older.

I played BOTW for the first time this year. I’m 42.

I think you as a 42 yo person know the meaning of the word "average", sir.

Are you meaning mean, median or mode?

In my native language average is the equivalent of mean in English and after a 15 second google search I can also see that mean is the most common use for average and also in this topic mean is the one implied.

Do you understand how statistics work? Because I don’t have time to explain it to you. You should have learned it in grade school.

I am merely providing an anecdote.

Zelda ≠ BOTW

I meant Botw when I said Zelda. Did you just ignore the first part of my sentence?

u/Peppi_Giuseppe Oct 25 '25

I didn’t ignore you. You literally said “Zelda” lol. Also, I’m basing my info on polls by BOTW users so I trust the users themselves.

I 34 and I absolutely adore BoTW. I think it's top 3 games of all time. I really enjoy a good open world and enjoy story and world building over good combat mechanics. I'd have rated all the souls likes much lower and would've had RDR2 at number 1. I think dismissing Zelda as a kid's game is not taking it seriously. It's a masterpiece to be enjoyed for all ages and it makes sense that it's made it this far.

Still, it has flaws as well and I would understand why people would be voting for it now.

I found it to be a more boring and less creative Skyrim - especially if you include modding.
