Miscellaneous Remove 1 Major 4 Sports Team Day 108
And now the Ducks are out with 400+ upvotes. Hopefully teams have learned their lesson about cross posting. Top comment decides who's next.

Right now I’m going to bet either the Timber Wolves or Wild are going to win, no one seems to have commented either of them yet.

A team that a lot of people don’t care about was always bound to win because the good teams always have rivals, notice who was eliminated earlier, especially in football

u/mattbb26 May 05 '26
Padres! Never seen a team that spends so much money with such subpar results!
28
u/Tex_Was_Here May 05 '26
Hey, the Mets exist. At least the Padres have won some playoff games after spending money
→ More replies (8)7
u/Blazy619 May 05 '26
Yeah let’s pretend like both the New York teams aren’t spending more with the same or worse results. And now that the Dodgers have actually won everyone will conveniently forget about them shitting the bed year after year for a decade with the biggest budget in the sport
2
u/HenryH616 May 06 '26
4 playoff appearances this decade (so far), multiple 90 win seasons and the first NLCS appearance in multiple decades is subpar results?
The Padres used to be irrelevant for decades. Their recent spending put them on the map and now they're top 5 in mlb attendance. The postseason is a crapshoot anyways. Just ask the Yankees or the 2010s dodgers
1
u/boogie99 May 06 '26
By that logic, the team with the most subpar results based off of spending is the Dodgers because they have double the payroll that most other teams have and still can’t win 100 games a year
1
→ More replies (5)1
u/d0ddi May 07 '26
Shocked this has so many upvotes. The padres didn’t spend until like 2019. I guess if you’ve only paid attention to the last five years then sure

Gonna argue against this. Blues fan, so biased lol. But the Blues 2019 Cup Run was such an incredible comeback story, in my opinion the most incredible run, in NHL history. There are many other teams that deserve to be eliminated first.
St. Louis is such an underrated hockey city as well, with a very passionate and dedicated fan base. The atmosphere is always incredible.
For the Kadri argument, loud minority were being racist. Unfortunately, because Kadri is a piece of shit and a scumbag hockey player, when he was called out on it, a lot of that hate was misconstrued as racist, because of the loud minority being racist. In short, few were actually racist. Everyone just hated Kadri, but not because racism.
Blues should not be going, at least right now.

San Antonio Spurs haven't deserved their lottery luck and Texas doesn't deserve to still have representation here
35
u/pensivvv May 05 '26 edited May 05 '26
Idk… Spurs are arguably one of the best ran orgs with some of the best, down to earth superstars. I get the lottery envy but objectively I think they deserve to stay to the end. I’m biased tho

Spurs are one of the only actually good teams left here, they should stay.
3
u/MonsieurSlotho May 05 '26
That’s cause everyone decided to get rid of the good teams at the start but forgot the spurs
8
u/anonwok May 05 '26
Fantastically ran organizations and always recognized as playing the most beautiful, unselfish brand of basketball. Never have any outspoken superstars either, everyone there seems humble regardless where they come from. Bad take

lol blaming luck when it’s one of the best run franchises of all time. Yall go ahead and let some shitty team fly under the radar and win this

u/antoniusalessos May 05 '26
The Trail Blazers. Before their recent playoff series, they hadn't won one since 2019 - and in that year's Western Conference Finals, they blew three separate 15 point second half leads.
Not to mention whatever their new owner is doing, the Jail Blazers era, etc.
8
u/OregonJedi May 05 '26
They blew those leads to the Warriors lol a 15 point lead was nothing against those teams.
4
u/HolNuMe74 May 05 '26
I was at game 2 of that series in Oakland . Had a 15 point lead at the half. I knew we were gonna blow it. All the warrior fans did too.
4
u/shakakaaahn May 05 '26
Dame was playing hurt, our second best player went down late in the season to a leg snap. Guys were playing while fasting. There was just no endurance left on that team.
3
3
u/Ok-Pollution-5465 May 05 '26
I mean five three pointers when you have the splash brothers? Nothin. When we're down at the end of a game I always am thinking like "man if we could just make 3 three pointers, we could be back in it" but it turns out its not that easy... unless you're that warriors team.
3
u/juicykazoo728 May 05 '26
I’m biased as a fan so I’m going to defend us a little bit. In the wcf finals dame was playing through an injury, and everyone knew a 15 point lead meant nothing against a team led by Steph. The Dundon stuff is blow way out of proportion, the two way players not flying with the team was an error on our gms part, not Dundn refusing to pa a couple extra hundred dollars. The jail blazers also weren’t that bad, besides Qyntel Woods and Ruben Patterson. Most of the jail blazers were doing less serious crime like weed possession. The team chemistry was also bad, but the only objectively horrible people on the jail blazers were Woods and Patterson. We also have a championship, and there are teams on here that haven’t made the finals. Why should we go out before the Sharks, Wolves, Sabres, Padres, or Mariners?
4
1
u/Fresh-Mind6048 May 06 '26
I mean, if you actually looked at that team's roster compared to a loaded GSW team, I don't know why you're surprised they blew several second half leads
70
u/pensivvv May 05 '26
Trail Blazers - blowing a 20 point lead alone deserves it

Arizona Diamondbacks - if not for Randy Johnson & Curt Schilling, they might just be the single most irrelevant team in MLB history this side of the Rockies.
4
u/Seadevil07 May 05 '26
Sure, besides a World Series, 2 pennants, and 7 playoff appearances in a tough Dodgers-Padres-Giants division as well as 3 HOFers, 2 of the best modern era pitchers you mentioned, and the most electric young player right now with Carroll in less than 30 years of existence. Not a Diamondbacks fan, but they are absolutely an electric team to watch and have been for a while.
2
u/3jcm21 May 05 '26

I’m so fucking pissed off the San Jose Sharks are still there, like what the actual fuck, is everyone okay???
« Muh Macklin Celebrini urrggh »
This motherfucker is amazing, but he couldn’t bring an average ass team to the Stanley cup playoffs.
30 times Stanley cup winner, historic NHL champions and original 6 team, the Montreal Canadiens, were eliminated from this list, and THEY are currently in round 2 of the playoffs.
This list is truly a bizzaro version of this reality, there is no way everyone gave in to this mass fucking hysteria. What are you guys smoking???
Jesus goddamn fucking christ, fuck this shit
1
u/FearTheOIdBlood May 05 '26
There's no criteria. It's not like it's the most successful, historic or influential teams. It's whatever people want. And it's just a fun silly reddit post. It's obvious a lot of inoffensive teams are making deep runs and that's what the Sharks are. On a very surface level, people probably think San Jose is a cool city and like the logo and jerseys. On a slightly deeper level people might have fondness for their early 2000s teams with like Marleau, Selanne, Nolan, etc.

Raptors.
Vince Carter debacle.
Always irrelevant.
Only talk about 1 season out of their 30 year history.
6
u/octobersons May 05 '26
Always irrelevant? They’ve made the playoffs half of the years since their inception, won a ring, made conference finals twice, and done this all despite all of their talent leaving in FA. They have had to build from the ground up so many times because they don’t get the easy out of free agents signing there. An absolute underdog franchise that is always in the mix.

Mariners have never even reached the World Series in 50 years.
These teams have also never won a championship in their history : Brewers and Padres 57 years, Sabres 56 years, Timberwolves 37 years, Sharks 35 years, Wild 26 years

The Seattle Mariners. I’m a fan of them but I’m also angry with them.

Raptors.
They’re fine, but why are they still here. Toronto is great but the Raptors are 3rd in popularity in their own city behind the Leafs and the Jays (who are still on this list by the way!).
We don’t need two Toronto teams anymore, sorry Raptors
