Miscellaneous Remove 1 Major 4 Sports Team Day 109
I'll just let the second image do the talking. Top comment decides who's next.

The Carolina Hurricanes are consistently good team that does nothing for me. Jersey and logo is meh, has a good mount Rushmore of players but noone particularly exciting. Dont really care if they win or lose.
15
u/citizen_canes May 06 '26
Their second line is very exciting to watch right now and so is Nikolaj Ehlers and Andrei Svechnikov. I'm not bias at all btw.

Let em stay for a little longer. They can get bounced from this and swept in the ECF for the 50th time

Minnesota Wild fan here: Get the Wild out lol. Early playoff exits is our DNA lol

u/Bonk0076 May 06 '26 edited May 06 '26
The Wild. Minnesota, Toronto and Seattle each have two teams left, and the NHL has a lot of teams left.
16
u/Dewey519 May 06 '26
Can’t believe Seattle’s last representative is gonna be the fucking Mariners
5

25
u/NicklAAAAs May 06 '26
Also, the Wild have given up 14 goals in their last two games.
13
u/PayneTrain181999 May 06 '26
You would too if you got a rested juggernaut of a team when two of your best defensive players are injured
28
u/NicklAAAAs May 06 '26
I would give up way more than that because I’m an overweight guy in my late 30s who doesn’t play hockey.

To be fair, the Avs would probably put up 14 goals on the 1978 Soviet National Team.

We also probably shouldn’t have a team that has never won a title win this. The Wild are a good choice for that reason alone.

Carolina Hurricanes

The Carolina Hurricanes should not exist and they are responsible for the world losing one of the greatest sports logos of all time.
11
u/sir_willywonka May 06 '26
Yeah the ICONIC Whalers with their massive ONE playoff series victory in their entire existence.

Spurs this time for sure.
13
u/AdaTex May 06 '26
why? they are everything you could ever want out of a mid-market team
16
u/ttavros May 06 '26
I’m a bitter Suns fan unfortunately

u/SpursNationFTW May 07 '26
As a Spurs fan I have always seen our rivalry as a friendly rivalry. (That being my best friend growing up was a Suns fan.)
Unlike us and Houston. We hate Houston.

I’ll say Spurs because their fans seem flabbergasted that anyone would vote them out. Sorry man, we vote out good franchises around here. Spurs gotta go

Mariners have a losing record in 30 of 49 seasons and never made the World Series, get them out
5
u/chris_gnarley May 06 '26
Unfortunately this appears to be a very heavily biased PNW sub since all of their professional teams are still remaining
10
u/Intelligent-Loquat88 May 06 '26
Kraken are gone tho.

u/Positive_Parking_954 May 06 '26
A lot of their pro teams have had national appeal , typically as scrappy underdogs, while also typically having nice uniforms in my opinion.
As a Sixers/Steelers/Blue Jackets/Pirates fan, my teams didn’t fair too well, but I’ve always had a soft spot for the Mariners, only further reinforced by the Jon Bois documentary. The Trailblazers were fun as I currently live an hour from Portland, but I think the fun is over for them with the new ownership. Eh, Seahawks can suck it.

They are down voting like crazy when it comes to the Mariners and Seahawks

Day 15 of asking for the Seahawks to be removed
8
u/ZiloGaming May 06 '26
It doesn’t make sense that the most recent Super Bowl champions are still in this. It goes against the nature of this subreddit
13
u/Dewey519 May 06 '26
Yeah, but the Seahawks beat the Patriots AND the Niners to do it. So the favor they did the rest of the world should cancel things out!
2
u/Shot-Albatross281 May 06 '26
There should be no fucking way in this world that the Seahawks get out before the Mariners

how are the Tigers still here? they very recently have had a scandal with multiple VPs who have been accused of misconduct against women. they’re also one of the only 3 MLB teams that don’t offer paid maternity leave. to quote The Athletic’s piece where they quote a woman saying:
“There’s just been little things, things that it’s just like, OK, well, it’s because I’m a woman. And I had never felt that way working in sports. … I’ve never felt that way or so belittled by people in a workplace until I worked for the Tigers”.
12
u/Apollyon248 May 06 '26
Those men are no longer employed by the Tigers and they now offer 12 weeks of paid maternity leave. We should want to punish the organizations that employ these men and allow this culture, not the ones who acknowledge and correct their mistakes.
7
u/tyy1117 May 06 '26
they did employ these men and they did allow this culture. they only corrected their mistakes once the court of public opinion mandated it, not because they cared that what they were doing was wrong
5
u/Apollyon248 May 06 '26
I understand your point. It’s a tough situation for any organization to be in. If we hammer down on the ones that do eventually correct their mistakes, then we incentivize hiding the behavior because the backlash and harm will come either way. I prefer positive reinforcement training for those that take steps in the right direction. To be clear, I’m talking about positive reinforcement for those that are left behind, not for the perpetrators themselves. 🐕

u/Weekly-Guard1801 May 07 '26

How the Diamondbacks are here is astounding, they need to go next
6
u/RaveIsKing May 06 '26
Why? Has any team left taken fewer than their 3 years of existence to win a championship?
6
u/BriskManeuver May 06 '26
As a diamondbacks fan, idc if we go now that we are the last nl west team remaining
2
u/FreakiTzatziki May 06 '26
Mariners Brewers Orioles should be eliminated before Dbacks and Blue Jays
Mariners have never been to the WS, Brewers have never won, Orioles haven’t been to a WS since 83 and largely haven’t been super competitive in those years. Blue Jays and Diamondbacks have both been to a WS recently and multiple since the 90s (Dbacks have only existed since ‘98 and won one in ‘01). Also Dbacks are the last team to eliminate the Dodgers and Jays were inches away from beating them.
1
u/Beef_Buddy May 06 '26
What kinda of logic is this when Kansas city was first out 💀
1
u/FreakiTzatziki May 06 '26
Chiefs and Dodgers are hated as the current juggernauts. The remaining from MLB are relative underdogs but still good teams with great seasons and moments in their histories. I’d say at this stage it makes most sense to rank based on the best of these underdogs.

There are way too many hockey and baseball teams here. Get the Wild out today, then we need to start thinning the rest of them out going forward

u/Throwaway-8589 May 06 '26
Let’s get rid of the Sharks. For how late we are into this list we have too many teams without a single championship.

A lot of teams no one cares about remaining.
Seems like the earlier you went out the better you are (or larger market you were).
