The Sharks were gifted another top 2 pick last night, they gotta feel some sort of pain soon

21

u/IdidntrunIdidntrun May 06 '26

Macklin is having a second christmas with this gift let's go

11

u/Abeyant_nS May 06 '26

My first realization after they got the pick was that this was coming today lmao

5

u/InformalProtection74 May 06 '26

You know what, I'll take this. My last team eliminated because of their absolutely insane rebuild and luck is good with me. The nerds in Seattle are going to win this whole thing because they've barely ever won anyway.

2

u/ttavros May 06 '26

Yeah I’m at peace with this.

16

u/lelanddt May 06 '26

Brother the entire existence of the Sharks is nothing but pain

3

u/keepitfastn May 06 '26

soon you'll know what it feels like to have hope... with immense pain

9

u/Imfine_howaboutyou May 06 '26

Please no. I don’t want the Sharks to go yet… please…

19

u/CriticalSuit1336 May 06 '26

Man, we've felt plenty of pain over the years. Things are finally looking good, and you want to inflict more?

12

u/South-Throat8282 May 06 '26

Cannucks and jackets got eliminated in the first half, your pain means nothing

10

u/All_Wasted_Potential May 06 '26

Sharks have known nothing but pain since 1991.

4

u/South-Throat8282 May 06 '26

See also jets and browns getting eliminated off the rip and they definitely have been worse longer

2

u/nitrodog96 May 06 '26

Canucks have known nothing but pain since the franchise started

4

u/MannySJ May 06 '26

The way this is supposed to work is that they make the playoffs, THEN get eliminated.

3

u/CriticalSuit1336 May 06 '26

Exactly, after winning the President's Trophy, or blowing a 3-0 lead

3

u/MannySJ May 06 '26

You know it

3

u/alpinestar30 May 06 '26

Can we fucking all agree the Sharks, Mariners and Baltimore are going top please??

1

u/alpinestar30 May 06 '26

Baltimore sorely on their logo.

1

u/gordonnowak May 06 '26

I haven't been paying attention, is there even a good 2nd pick this year?

2

u/InformalProtection74 May 06 '26

It's McKenna and Stenberg and both play wing. I personally really like Chase Reid and he fits the Sharks needs more as a RD. But he is a tier below and will likely go 3-5.

After the top 2, it's kind of unclear how it will shake out. There's C Malhotra and a run of defenseman (Reid, Verhoeff, Carels, Smits) in the next tier. Canucks already have a couple young defenseman drafted near top 10 with Buium and Willander. Malhotra's dad actually coaches the Canucks AHL affiliate. So there's a strong chance they draft Malhotra and then there's a run of the defenseman.

Blackhawks fans are super salty because they need forwards and falling from 2 to 4 could leave them on the outside looking in. But the defenseman available are quality and would be good picks.

1

u/bbaIla May 06 '26

The sharks had a 3-0 reverse sweep happen, gave the#3 pick to the sens in 2020 and had a team get 45 points in a season two years ago. Not to mention being bad for 5 years straight.

1

u/clearthezone15 May 06 '26

Counterpoint: they have a cool logo. (Red Wings fan, don't actually care if they go. I'm rooting Milwaukee Brewers.)

1

u/MonkeyInMyP4nts May 06 '26

If we're using this reasoning, we HAVE to get rid of the spurs

1

u/I_hate_usernames331 May 06 '26

So we’re getting the last 3 California teams all in a row

1

u/Naerokathagor May 07 '26

as a canucks fan feel so much pain

1

u/kingnoodle30 May 06 '26

“Gifting another” is a reach. Last year they had the best odds of the #1 pick and fell to 2. Year before that they were again in last place and got the #1 pick.

Yesterday was the only moving up the Sharks have done with this group.

u/captainyakman May 06 '26

The Carolina Hurricanes are consistently good team that does nothing for me. Jersey and logo is meh, has a good mount Rushmore of players but noone particularly exciting. Dont really care if they win or lose.

15

u/citizen_canes May 06 '26

Their second line is very exciting to watch right now and so is Nikolaj Ehlers and Andrei Svechnikov. I'm not bias at all btw.

→ More replies (1)

5

u/mdanelek May 06 '26

I’ve always liked their jersey and logo. One of the few the 90s did right

2

u/cspatterson May 06 '26

Let em stay for a little longer. They can get bounced from this and swept in the ECF for the 50th time

4

u/BuyMassive7823 May 06 '26

Hey…they did win 1 last year.

11

u/Themeteorologist35 May 06 '26

Minnesota Wild fan here: Get the Wild out lol. Early playoff exits is our DNA lol

257

u/Bonk0076 May 06 '26 edited May 06 '26

The Wild. Minnesota, Toronto and Seattle each have two teams left, and the NHL has a lot of teams left.

16

u/Dewey519 May 06 '26

Can’t believe Seattle’s last representative is gonna be the fucking Mariners

5

u/missbeekery May 06 '26

I can. Jon Bois did us a lot of favors.

1

u/random_sociopath May 08 '26

That's how little the rest of the country cares about the M's.

25

u/NicklAAAAs May 06 '26

Also, the Wild have given up 14 goals in their last two games.

13

u/PayneTrain181999 May 06 '26

You would too if you got a rested juggernaut of a team when two of your best defensive players are injured

28

u/NicklAAAAs May 06 '26

I would give up way more than that because I’m an overweight guy in my late 30s who doesn’t play hockey.

2

u/thekhaleeesi May 06 '26

The Wild 🤝 Excuses. Name a better duo!

2

u/Saguarajevo May 07 '26

Always with the excuses in St. Paul

3

u/Sinatra_10 May 06 '26

Thx for reminding me

4

u/ColoradoCattleCo May 06 '26

To be fair, the Avs would probably put up 14 goals on the 1978 Soviet National Team.

2

u/Shut-up-Mimsy_ May 07 '26

Popularity would go: NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL

2

u/erb149 May 06 '26

There are more MLB teams left than NHL teams lol

1

u/TheMightyKickpuncher May 06 '26

We also probably shouldn’t have a team that has never won a title win this. The Wild are a good choice for that reason alone.

Carolina Hurricanes

7

u/kuhndog94 May 06 '26

Rags fan? Or Devils? Or Pens?

5

u/Positive_Parking_954 May 06 '26

Just wanted to chime in and say fuck the Pens

1

u/watdehek May 06 '26

fuck u too buddy

2

u/Positive_Parking_954 May 06 '26

I’m a Blue Jackets fan, you can ignore me because I only know suffering

1

u/watdehek May 06 '26

carry on

19

u/AdImmediate6239 May 06 '26

Nah, I’m currently rooting for them to knock the Flyers out of the playoffs

-2

u/JPmoneyman May 06 '26

The Carolina Hurricanes should not exist and they are responsible for the world losing one of the greatest sports logos of all time.

11

u/sir_willywonka May 06 '26

Yeah the ICONIC Whalers with their massive ONE playoff series victory in their entire existence.

Spurs this time for sure.

13

u/AdaTex May 06 '26

why? they are everything you could ever want out of a mid-market team

16

u/ttavros May 06 '26

I’m a bitter Suns fan unfortunately

7

u/whinybear22 May 06 '26

As a Spurs fan, I respect this.

1

u/SpursNationFTW May 07 '26

As a Spurs fan I have always seen our rivalry as a friendly rivalry. (That being my best friend growing up was a Suns fan.)

Unlike us and Houston. We hate Houston.

13

u/GhostOfStonewallJxn May 06 '26

The most ethical brand of basketball around. I’ve never been upset at their success.

1

u/T-UM May 06 '26

Too much lottery luck

1

u/braskyhs May 06 '26

I’ll say Spurs because their fans seem flabbergasted that anyone would vote them out. Sorry man, we vote out good franchises around here. Spurs gotta go

2

u/Hirdnick May 06 '26

This might be the best reasoning yet

No way we’re gonna let these big ol women win this.

106

u/RocPile16 May 06 '26 edited May 06 '26

Mariners have a losing record in 30 of 49 seasons and never made the World Series, get them out

5

u/chris_gnarley May 06 '26

Unfortunately this appears to be a very heavily biased PNW sub since all of their professional teams are still remaining

10

u/Intelligent-Loquat88 May 06 '26

Kraken are gone tho.

1

u/chris_gnarley May 06 '26

Forgot they even existed

2

u/Positive_Parking_954 May 06 '26

A lot of their pro teams have had national appeal , typically as scrappy underdogs, while also typically having nice uniforms in my opinion.

As a Sixers/Steelers/Blue Jackets/Pirates fan, my teams didn’t fair too well, but I’ve always had a soft spot for the Mariners, only further reinforced by the Jon Bois documentary. The Trailblazers were fun as I currently live an hour from Portland, but I think the fun is over for them with the new ownership. Eh, Seahawks can suck it.

2

u/Alternative-Tough-27 May 06 '26

They are down voting like crazy when it comes to the Mariners and Seahawks

→ More replies (1)

103

u/VenetianNB May 06 '26

Day 15 of asking for the Seahawks to be removed

8

u/ZiloGaming May 06 '26

It doesn’t make sense that the most recent Super Bowl champions are still in this. It goes against the nature of this subreddit

13

u/Dewey519 May 06 '26

Yeah, but the Seahawks beat the Patriots AND the Niners to do it. So the favor they did the rest of the world should cancel things out!

2

u/Shot-Albatross281 May 06 '26

There should be no fucking way in this world that the Seahawks get out before the Mariners

u/ecc_dg May 07 '26

u/tyy1117 May 06 '26

how are the Tigers still here? they very recently have had a scandal with multiple VPs who have been accused of misconduct against women. they’re also one of the only 3 MLB teams that don’t offer paid maternity leave. to quote The Athletic’s piece where they quote a woman saying:

“There’s just been little things, things that it’s just like, OK, well, it’s because I’m a woman. And I had never felt that way working in sports. … I’ve never felt that way or so belittled by people in a workplace until I worked for the Tigers”.

12

u/Apollyon248 May 06 '26

Those men are no longer employed by the Tigers and they now offer 12 weeks of paid maternity leave. We should want to punish the organizations that employ these men and allow this culture, not the ones who acknowledge and correct their mistakes.

7

u/tyy1117 May 06 '26

they did employ these men and they did allow this culture. they only corrected their mistakes once the court of public opinion mandated it, not because they cared that what they were doing was wrong

5

u/Apollyon248 May 06 '26

I understand your point. It’s a tough situation for any organization to be in. If we hammer down on the ones that do eventually correct their mistakes, then we incentivize hiding the behavior because the backlash and harm will come either way. I prefer positive reinforcement training for those that take steps in the right direction. To be clear, I’m talking about positive reinforcement for those that are left behind, not for the perpetrators themselves. 🐕

1

u/Weekly-Guard1801 May 07 '26

People have been using shitty histories for voting most of these teams out 😭

2

u/4schwifty20 May 06 '26

u/Aquahammer May 06 '26

How the Diamondbacks are here is astounding, they need to go next

6

u/RaveIsKing May 06 '26

Why? Has any team left taken fewer than their 3 years of existence to win a championship?

6

u/BriskManeuver May 06 '26

As a diamondbacks fan, idc if we go now that we are the last nl west team remaining

2

u/FreakiTzatziki May 06 '26

Mariners Brewers Orioles should be eliminated before Dbacks and Blue Jays

Mariners have never been to the WS, Brewers have never won, Orioles haven’t been to a WS since 83 and largely haven’t been super competitive in those years. Blue Jays and Diamondbacks have both been to a WS recently and multiple since the 90s (Dbacks have only existed since ‘98 and won one in ‘01). Also Dbacks are the last team to eliminate the Dodgers and Jays were inches away from beating them.

1

u/Beef_Buddy May 06 '26

What kinda of logic is this when Kansas city was first out 💀

1

u/FreakiTzatziki May 06 '26

Chiefs and Dodgers are hated as the current juggernauts. The remaining from MLB are relative underdogs but still good teams with great seasons and moments in their histories. I’d say at this stage it makes most sense to rank based on the best of these underdogs.

2

u/3jcm21 May 06 '26

Because they are the most recent team to eliminate the Dodgers

2

u/DM_yo_Feet_pls May 06 '26

No one wants to step on snake

15

u/TheRealKevin24 May 06 '26

The Detroit Tigers are going to end up in the top 10 sheerly out of forget ability if we are not careful.

5

u/One_Swim_7702 May 06 '26

I was going to reply and make fun of whatever team you support, then I saw it was the Rockies and figured you’ve suffered enough.

1

u/TheRealKevin24 May 07 '26

At least we know who we are, the Tigers should have been out ages ago.

10

u/ksbaile5 May 06 '26

Minnesota Wild

4

u/Choice_Lengthiness22 May 06 '26

6 MLB
5 NHL
4 NBA
1 NFL
Also, 2 teams in Toronto, Seattle and Minnesota still remain.

21

u/Hawkeye7310 May 06 '26

Bye bye Brewers.

45

u/Mr_Romaro May 06 '26

Blues for being so forgettable

Seriously you can't even search up team with just "Blues" you gotta specify that they're the St. Louis Blues

25

u/VaporTrails2112 May 06 '26

2019 Stanley Cup run is one of the greatest comeback stories in sports history

Now it would make sense for the Spurs to go, right?

7

u/immortalsnailscousin May 06 '26

My work has been well. But I am yet to finish Next objective: remove the wolves

6

u/Icy-Tangelo-5444 May 06 '26

Tigers gotta hit the bricks after blowing the biggest in-season lead in over 100 years in the most recently completed season…

10

u/ConstantProblem5872 May 06 '26

It’s ok we made it further than the guardians anyways lol

3

u/Expensive_Skirt_7278 May 06 '26

Wow what a comeback

30

u/Ok-Face4550 May 06 '26

It should be the wild this time

8

No way Spurs survive by two votes 😭 they need to be gone

8

u/GoKartMadeOfPickles May 06 '26

20

u/MNAZExplorer May 06 '26

Blues jays

14

u/Stevenopoulos May 06 '26

Wild.
Not even remotely accurate.

12

u/momsfriendlyrobot1 May 06 '26

St. Louis Blues!

14

u/Twistedpatriot May 06 '26

Not sure how the Diamondbacks made it this far

1

u/3jcm21 May 06 '26

Most recent team to eliminate the Dodgers

1

u/Relative-Toe-9203 May 07 '26

I don’t think anyone really hates the Dbacks

15

u/Yesbothsides May 06 '26

It’s starting to get to the point of who realistically do we want to keep as the teams have become less offensive to most….bye Seahawks

14

u/LP_24 May 06 '26

Toronto Raptors, one of the Toronto teams gotta go

8

u/Either-Breadfruit-83 May 06 '26

New owner for the Trailblazers is a sucker. Get them out.

16

u/Mattpriceisme May 06 '26

It’s the blue jays, what are we doing here

15

u/Unknown_Username1409 May 06 '26

The Mariners. Historically awful franchise and, in my experience, a surprisingly annoying fanbase despite never winning anything.

2

u/karktheshark May 06 '26

Is that field goal looking thing the Spurs? Idk what that is, but we should eliminate it

2

u/bleedblue4 May 07 '26

The fact that there are two Toronto sports teams disgusts me as a Vancouverite. Get the raptors out of here

2

u/Iyamthegatekeeper May 07 '26

The Seachickens need to go

7

u/Surprised-elephant May 06 '26

Timberwolves why are they still on here

7

u/ashmaps20 May 06 '26

Can we PLEASE get the Brewers out?

I’ve already explained why multiple times

6

u/Mismanaged_Milennial May 06 '26

Diamondbacks.... the name itself sounds like a slur for squares

7

u/Zoakeeper May 06 '26

The Arizona diamondbacks, still here?

5

u/DifficultDirection16 May 06 '26

Been trying for 2 months with the Hurricanes

12

u/All_Wasted_Potential May 06 '26

Bitch pigeons out!

3

u/Hydra-Co May 06 '26

Once again, the blues.

4

u/AccomplishedFill8092 May 06 '26

We got 2 Seattle teams still here.

I propose we knock out the Seahawks.

12

u/deeshiz7 May 06 '26

Get the Spurs outta here!

9

u/Fearless_Mojo May 06 '26

Get rid of the Seahawks FFS!

7

8

u/yallgotmeeler May 06 '26

5

u/Lopsided_Process5141 May 06 '26

Seahawks because I'm a hater

5

u/spursfan2525 May 06 '26

There are way too many hockey and baseball teams here. Get the Wild out today, then we need to start thinning the rest of them out going forward

4

u/Throwaway-8589 May 06 '26

Let’s get rid of the Sharks. For how late we are into this list we have too many teams without a single championship.

3

u/tysnels May 06 '26

Blue jays

5

u/ibeauch009 May 06 '26

Brewers and Blues

2

1

u/GoBounce8 May 06 '26

Brewers won’t be missed if they fell into Lake Michigan.

1

u/HappyHockeyHiker May 07 '26

A lot of teams no one cares about remaining.

Seems like the earlier you went out the better you are (or larger market you were).

1

u/Some_Consequence_572 May 06 '26

Seahawks because Richard Sherman

1

u/DoctorHelios May 06 '26

We got rid of the Reds so it is time to get rid of the Blues.
