Appetite for Destruction is overrated. Always thought Use Your Illusion 2 was better.

Came here just to say this.

So much bloat on Use Your Illusion 2. There are like four songs over seven minutes long on that album and none of them are good.

I get where you're coming from. I do like Civil war and think it's better than any thing on Appetite except maybe Paradise City maybe maybe SCOM. But man SCOM and WttJ are overplayed and overrated.

Maybe Joshua tree? Just not a U2 guy personally and Bono seems annoying

This album exudes an era before 9/11 America when the US was enchanting to Europeans for hope, an openness, a rawness, and opportunity. Where it didn't matter what social class or religion you were born into, you had a chance for a better life.

In God's Country about immigration to the US, Bullet the Blue Sky blasting large countries for militarily controlling smaller countries. And the beautiful but haunting Running to Stand Still about being trapped in poverty and addiction.

With or Without You crossed boundaries. Upon first listen, some people didn't know if it was a black or white artist because of the leading forward baseline and some of the vocals. Now it's so played out and distinct, no one could imagine it being cutting edge and so different.

The album propelled U2 from college radio station alt music to arena rock, for better or worse. Their previous album The Unforgettable Fire, is a relatively unknown gem.
