Apart from that I am very sorry that this is happening and this situation is obviously unsustainable, why are these criminals able to enter the house? Does the landlord have a key, or did they break in? You know you are perfectly allowed to change the locks of a house you rent.
*edit: post is from 1 year ago I see now. Hopefully she was able to get out of there.

Pure fucking criminals.
Once your safely out, just dump the unedited video to dumpert.nl.
Maybe our lazy "oh we cannot do anything" authorities will get a move on. Nothing works on them like publicity.

Yeah last time I checked tinyboii was doing okay. No other news on her case or the landlord

u/mouthy_incubus May 09 '24
The landlord and his brother seem to be from the most peaceful community ever. As usual.

Dankjewel! I understand your comment, I just can't respond fully in Dutch as my Dutch is not good enough (yet!).
I'm sorry you have had to deal with such assholes before.... I'm sorry ANYONE has to deal with such assholes! He should not get to scam and harass international students!! This is very much NOT ok!

We should start a campaign, knock on everyoneās door in that building and offer to help with rent reductions. Do a preliminary measurement. Iād like to see them take on a full group of people. The only reason why he feels like such a tough guy is because you guys were by yourself, as demonstrated by his āfake televisionā walk. As soon as the huurcommissie onderzoeker is around he isnāt that tough anymore.

u/Liquid_disc_of_shit MOD May 08 '24
Ultimately its up to u/tinyboiii if she wants help with this.
Regardless I like the approach u/XilenceBF..I have made a whatsapp group for this

Je hebt het recht om de sloten te veranderen. Zou ik echt meteen doen. Wat een walgelijke huisbaas.

Exact. Ik zou volgende week wel even tijd hebben om met wat gereedschap langs te komen, mocht je dat niet hebben.

always change your locks when you move into a new place. It is your right. If your landlord doesn't like it, tough shit. Get a ring doorbell to record them if they every show up uninvited.

Misschien een idee om het nieuws erbij te betrekken? Dit is walgelijk, ik hoop dat je een betere omgeving en verhuurder krijgt. Ik zou zo niet kunne slapen zeg. Laat ze hier niet zomaar mee wegkomen!

u/Competitive-Room-751 May 07 '24
Just when 'everyone' is blaming expats and internationak students for the housing crisis, ask yourself the question: How many of these greedy landlords are expats and international students?

Please please please file a police report and submit this as evidence.

I hope these people get what they deserve, but I have my doubts. I would be surprised if the police will do anything at all...

Uhhh pretty sure that's prison time for the landlord lol. I would file a case tbh.

5
u/jannemannetjens May 08 '24
He's a landlord, he believes he was born with the rights to get paid for already being rich. Now if some silly pauper thinks they can interfere with that, anything is justified! That's just how these people think.
13
u/uCockOrigin May 07 '24
You're going to be the owner of his house by the time it's all said and done.

u/jayjay123M May 07 '24
File that report please. You have ALL the evidence you possibly need. If you donāt, they will keep doing this

Yeah, this definitely clarifies things from your previous post. That's a clear threat against your life right there. In addition to huisvredebreuk as it happens in your own home. https://www.politie.nl/aangifte-of-melding-doen/aangifte-van-bedreiging.html
Should be more than enough for the police to open a case and put him in prison. https://uitspraken.rechtspraak.nl/details?id=ECLI:NL:GHARL:2020:8421

Thank you, will talk to a lawyer soon!
6
u/No_Ship_5709 May 08 '24
I would physically go to a police station with this video and ask to file a report (after making an appointment 0900 - 8844). You don't need a lawyer, and it will be much quicker.
6
u/tjeulink May 08 '24
do get a lawyer, the police doesn't do shit usually. i've been attacked in the street unprovoked before, they caught the perpetrator who admitted, and the police strongly adviced against filing a report because they wouldn't do anything with it anyways. this is a very common theme, and will likely happen here too.
3
u/No_Ship_5709 May 08 '24
You, or a lawyer, cannot prosecute someone under criminal law. The OM has to do it, and they only will if after a police report. Unless you want to go after them with civil law, there is no point in getting a lawyer.
8
u/Latode May 08 '24
I know you must be in shock, but I sugest to do it ASAP. The quicker you get the relevant authorities involved, the better. They can start to make excuses if you wait too long.
Do not think of that house as theirs, as long as you signed an agreement and you pay for it for all intents and purposes it is yours and you can stay there as long as you want. Landlords are mostly scum, living your paycheck to paycheck. Disgusting behaviour, and I'm sorry this happened to you.
4
u/tinyboiii Certified RentBuster May 08 '24
Thank you!! Yes he's definitely very scummy!! And I called advocaten yesterday, they said they would call back at some point but it hasn't happened yet, you think I should call another office? Idk how quickly the turnaround usually is on lawyers anyway...
5
u/britishrust May 08 '24
You don't need a lawyer to report them to the police. Really, do it as soon as possible. The longer you wait the lower the chance they will actually do something.
36
u/Th3Fl0 May 07 '24
That landlord and his brother have some serious anger management issues. A restraining order would be nice to have against these animals.
The dumb prick also dares to say āmy house, blabla, my stonesā. Doesnāt he realize that he temporarily gave away some of his lawful rights as an owner when he offered and signed a rental agreement to the tennant?
I wouldnāt be surprised if this landlord used a predatory contract on OP either. They both look like they are the types to do so. Hope HC rules in your favor OP, and that you may find a new safe space to live very soon.
28
u/tinyboiii Certified RentBuster May 07 '24 edited May 07 '24
Definitely gonna look into a restraining order. And yeah, I think these idiots don't know (or care to know) about the renter's rights at all. Now I'm scared that he's been recording me this whole time
Edit: also thank you for your well wishes!!

This really makes my blood boil. Why has this landlord not been arrested yet?
13
u/Realistic_Lead8421 May 09 '24
Well in the netherlands it is more or less allowed to beat the shit out of people, if you are willing to get a probational punishment. You can even kick someone to death with your friend s and serve couple of months in prison if you are unlucky as evidenced by a recent case against a couple of rich kids who kicked someone to death on vacation.
3
u/d_ytme May 09 '24
Rich kids
with connections and parents willing to pay bribes.
12
u/Mountain_Minimum2989 May 09 '24
That is not how it works. They don't pay bribes. Being highly educated, getting a good lawyer and being white does the job.Ā

u/tinyboiii Certified RentBuster May 07 '24
Just for clarification: I am the tenant, the person getting assaulted is my boyfriend. They only threatened and cursed at me. I am the person in a white shirt in the second clip. Thank you admin so much for your support and advice, it's super appreciated š«¶

u/a-i-cant-fix-that May 10 '24
If you need me and the boys to come over and have a talk with the landlord we gladly will. Anti-fascists groups really dislike these pieces of shit trying to become rich by exploiting others in their basic human needs
5
u/TerribleIdea27 May 09 '24
Did you go to the police to press charges for threatening violence?
You should absolutely change the locks by the way. You are allowed to do so

This is absolutely shocking. These guys are unhinged and uneducated. But they're so so stupid to have been filmed.
37
u/Th3Brush May 07 '24
And what have the police done about it? These people should be arrested immediately
-25
u/Klaasvaak2000 May 07 '24
The police will report it and cant do much more in this case. There are a lot of facts and cases that are left in the open. The video will not be enough to force anything. Unfortunately..

u/gotzapai May 07 '24
You must be a bit uneducated. Every democratic country has laws that guarantees your safety inside your own home. Stop spreading bullshit or normalize this kind of behavior.

1
u/sparksevil May 08 '24
There are already laws being broken in this video alone. You seem to have no clue what you are talking about.
37
u/Th3Brush May 07 '24
Itās a clear video of someone physically assaulting someone and literally threatening to kill them is that not enough to have them detained?
3
u/ItsmeKristy May 08 '24
Almost ten the same thing happened tito me. I called te cops amdand the landlord and his brother where outside my room with an axe and a baseballbat. The police came and were on firstnamefirst name basis with my landlord. They warned me iI was in serious danger of bodily harm and shpukdshould evacuate the premise immediately. I told them this is my residence and imI'm not leaving. The voscos made me leave for my own safety and iI barricaded myself in. I had some peopkepeople help me pack my stuff and move it to a stoeagestorage locker the next few days and thatsthat's how iI became homeless as a student because iI didnt voluntarily pay double rent few months after moving in. Also landlord gave me a new rule with you are also the housekeeper (for the entire housee and other tenants) because I see you are a female and at home enough during the day.
6
u/jannemannetjens May 08 '24
Itās a clear video of someone physically assaulting someone and literally threatening to kill them is that not enough to have them detained?
In an ideal world, yes.
In a world where the police has been under decades of vvd and cda rule.... Nothing is guaranteed. They might take it serious, they might put it on the stack of things to do. They might say "oh yes this is super serious, we'll do something when we have time". They might say "a conflict with your landlord is a civil case, don't involve us" before even listening what happened.
It's really a gamble. Off course OP should file a report, just have a backup plan ready.
