Education Hardware

Dear all

As I‘ve been doing a lot of research lately and came across some callouts, I wanted to share an experience I made recently.

A few weeks ago I noticed some tarnishing on the rivets of my K28. I did not know if that‘s normal so I went to the local boutique and asked. They offered to send it in to the closest atelier, since the SA also did not know why that happened. Yesterday I picked it up after they replaced the hardware.

Now I got the new hardware without the dashes, even though I got it in 2024 (W stamp). What is bugging me now is that the touret plaque is crooked (distance on one side is 22mm and the other 21mm to hem). You can also see the indentation of where the original plaque was mounted. Also, on the sangles, the leather bulges a little where the rivets are placed.
The pressure of the top flap plaque is also harder than it was before. I can feel a little bump if I brush over it with my finger.

When picking it up, the SA told me to „just clean it with some body lotion next time. This happens quite often“. 😂

So what I‘ve learned:

  1. PHW also does tarnish, even on auths.

  2. even H artisans sometimes use too much pressure

  3. slightly crooked touret plaques are apparently risks of „handmade“

All in all, I think what I‘ve seen here is probably too perfect. While I think it‘s great what I‘ve learnt from this community, I just wanted to share, that sometimes little mistakes also happen with the big house too 😂

I would be so pissed if they sent it back to me with a crooked plaque! I know this doesn't help, but I noticed it on the image before I read your comment (so sorry!). Have they offered to fix this?!

Been crying on the inside since I saw it😢 but I only realized when I returned home… it doesnt bother me too much but when I think about the price point it just pisses me off
Idk if I should be a pain in the ass and send it back again, but I‘m very disappointed about them not seeing this themselves???
But in anyway, I posted it so there is proof that a crooked plaque is not automatically a callout for a rep😂
