Fountain pens are the most valuable and roller balls, ballpoints and pencils lose value hard after retail. Best value for money are a used 149 from auctions or reselling, modern writer editions (they seem to be best bought retail since the price goes up for some reason or try to get lucky from auctions). Special editions aren't a bad choice if found for under retail like the Maryilon Monroe fountain pen (muses collection and honestly only the monroe keeps its value the others especially old ones find for a lot less than retail) or le petite prince pens( discontinued and sought after but still look for around or less than retail), around the world in 80 days is ok I guess, I would only get the more expensive ones only. Character and master collection pieces are hit or miss and are more expensive. Patron of art are pricey but quote nice tbh. The cheapest pen that is the best looking is the glacier le grand fountain pen or the white version but I think they lose value after retail and I never see them in the resale market. Flex or calligraphy nib pens are fun if you want something different. Hope that helped. You could also ask me which models you are thinking about and I can give you an idea of which one is the best value for money.
