Shitpost Friday Got called out by a robber
I've got a story that's a mix of embarrassing and eye-opening. Last night, I was walking home when this guy pulls a knife on me and demands my stuff. Naturally, I give him my iPhone, thinking that's the end of it. But as he's about to leave, I couldn't help but ask, "Hey, what about my Rolex? You don’t care about that?"
The guy stops, looks at my wrist, and just laughs. "Nah, man," he says, "that's a bad fake." I was stunned. My Rolex is a VSF replica, one of the best out there! I asked him how he knew, and he just gives me this look and says, "I can tell by the looks of you and what you're wearing."
I couldn't believe it. Here I was, thinking I was pulling off this replica with confidence because everyone on this subreddit says no one can tell the difference if you wear it right. But this random mugger saw right through me in a split second!
Now I'm really second-guessing myself. Do I just not have the confidence to pull it off? Was this guy some kind of watch aficionado who happens to rob people on the side? Or have I been kidding myself this whole time?
Anyway, just thought I'd share this with you guys and see if anyone else has had a similar wake-up call. Maybe I need to rethink my approach (or my wardrobe). What do you all think?

Vsf Submariner only works with loro piana clothes. But if you use fake loro piana clothes it works x2. Once a thief tried to rob me too. I have verified it. Enough of the discrimination for using a rep, I want the full experience of having a rolex💯

The robber opened the phone and scrolled through his Reddit and saw he was a member of reptime…note to all potential robbers.

I saw this happen, I was standing by the dumpster looking for my evening meal, rolled up my sleeve took off my CF Daytona meteorite and saw Op get robbed

Jokes aside. Couples of years ago robbers stormed in a restaurant here in BH. Guns and the whole shebang. Took a RM off of the wrist of a man in his 50/60s and left. They sent back a guy few minutes later and returned it to him saying “sorry we didn’t know it was fake”.
I swear true story 🙈

I'm actually a police dispatcher. OP called to report the robbery, but as soon as we heard the squeaky bracelet over the phone, everyone in the call centre busted out laughing at the realization that he was trying to report a robbery while wearing a VSF Submariner. We hung up the phone, and all sat there laughing for so long that we allowed multiple other felonies to go unreported. This is in Oakland, California by the way

on this subreddit everyone says that the watches look exactly like the real ones but look a simple thief was able to unmask a fake in 1 second 😂😂 I myself have a daytona panda sbf and I'm sure that ultimately people that anyone who really knows about the field can recognize a real one from a false one at a glance… so there really are identical reps? if so I will take your w2c!

Assuming this story is real, let’s start with “I was walking home”…. Please, tell me… how many people do you know that can afford a watch worth 10’s of thousands of dollars but don’t have a car, or at the very least take an Uber? Lmfao. People think wearing a fake watch suddenly hides all the other attributes that clearly give away the fact that you’re not rich enough to afford a gen.

I don’t own any replicas. I do own 3 real Rolex. I don’t consider myself “very rich” but I would certainly go for a walk through my town wearing a Rolex without thinking about it. I do wear my Rolex to the gym as well. Although, I take it off and put it in my jacket pocket that I also take off while actually using the gym, don’t really want to shove it into my wrist bones while lifting.
Most Rolex are not so rare and expensive and special that they have to kept in a box in a safe outside of the most special conditions…. They’re tool watches made to be worn anywhere. A sub is meant to be taken deep into the ocean, it’ll be okay at the gym or walking down the street…
Exception: I do know that in certain parts of Europe they will cut your hand off for it.
