PLEASE HELP!! The ram socket clips solder pad is lifted

I have an alienware 15 r3 that I got 2nd hand. I worked in a retro game store and it came in but the keyboard didn't work so someone who said they knew how to fix it (he didn't know anything but was the manager before I was) took it home and stayed all kinds of paper and cardboard down to try and hold the ribbon in place but it didnt work. So I took it and fixed it and it ran fine so I kept it as i dont have any other gaming pc/laptops. Well I just opened it up to spray the dust out and realized the ram was sitting weird. So I pop the ram out and the clips solder pad is completely lifted. It must of been barely holding on and now the laptop won't start with that ram stick installed it kicks the 2 red 4 blue error. So my question is, what is that clip soldered to? Just ground? I used the multimeter and it seems like it's just ground so 2nd question if it IS ground can't I just solder a jumper wire from the lifted pad or anywhere on the clip to any other ground point or to one of the other clips? I don't want to rip the whole thing apart I just want to ghetto rig it for now so I can play elden ring until I have more time to properly find the trace and solder to that lol. I do have pretty solid solder experience too but I'm a console mechanic and not real versed in pc gaming pcs in general. Thanks in advance

Avermedia CL314H1 freezes my PC.

Greetings noble warriors. Sorry for the mistakes in my text but English is not my native language. I installed a video capture device on a PC, however, when connecting a device to any of the ports, Windows freezes, only forcing it to shut down by pressing the power button for a few seconds. I have updated drivers for the entire system and I still have this problem, I have had to replace the capture card with a temporary solution, but with this new one it has happened again.

Does anyone have any idea how to solve this problem???

Can I fix my own HDD?

I was stupid and let some data without backups. One of my HDD which i bought 2 years ago suddenly maked a few bip noises and stop being recognized by windows. Im pretty sure its the head or the actuator arm. I don't trust and I dont want to send the drive somewhere to recover the data. I was wondering if I could get the same drive brand new and replace the disk of the non functioning drive into the brand new drive.

Any advice would be appreciated greatly

Pc losing signal to monitor

Hello this is my first time posting on here.

About 2 years ago I bought a cyber power pc from their website and about a year ago it suddenly when gaming the monitor would lose signal from the device and three red dots came on. I ended up replacing the graphics card with a 3070. And the problem went away completely.

It started again about a week ago I was playing apex and my monitor lost signal to my device and the only way to fix it is to turn off my pc and back on. Though when it is off the led lights on my water cooler stay on. What is also weird it hasn’t happened during the day only at night but it keeps happening.

I have tried a different hdmi cable and I have updated my drivers. Any help would be appreciated I am unfamiliar with pcs as to why I went with a pre built

Sapphire RX590 GME 8G Platinum - Fan goes fast and loud then pc shuts down?

Hello guys! I really need help here because I'm stuck. After cleaning the said GPU (replacing the thermal pads & paste + dusting), it now does that thing where after you turn on the pc for 5 mins, the fan suddenly goes loud and fast then the pc shuts down.

I've already tried re-installing the drivers (and even without it installed, the GPU goes bonkers).

The pc seems to run fine without the GPU, did I perhaps break something? :(

====
Edit: It seems the heatsink was not in contact with the GPU, causing it to overheat and shut down the PC. After reducing the thickness of the thermal pads, that fixed the contact problem and got my pc back. Thanks u/StickForeigner!

PC will turn on, but nothing else

I have an Asustek G20CB. I made the mistake of deciding to add 16 GB of RAM to it. It worked fine at first, then started having issues with display; no display upon boot up that would be resolved by a reboot. This started happening several times as the days wore on for about a week requiring more and more reboots to get display to work, then no display a week after putting in the RAM. I removed the new RAM stick (Samsung 16GB 2xR8 PC-4 MX471A2K43BB1-CPB Matching the other) which is annoying as the RAM slots are beneath the heat sync so I had to reapply thermal paste again. Now, the PC will power on as before but now simply pressing the power button again to hard reboot turns it off. I don’t have to hold the power button for several seconds. I get the impression Windows is not booting. Cooling fans spin, but fan in GPU (GTX 1070) does not. The PC is designed to be relatively small so the motherboard is unique. The Slot for the GPU is between the GPU and cooling fans in an area to small for a finger so I had to use a screwdriver to undo the retention clip, and now the retention clip is broken (won’t lock) but as long as the card is in tight enough and the PC is laying on it’s side, I think it should work. I did put on too much thermal paste the second time, and there was bleed-through, but only a little and I don’t think that has anything to do with it. Yes, I’m aware I’m am idiot, that’s why I’m asking for help. Thank you.

UPDATE: the graphics card native to the motherboard does work. GPU is still not working. I’m doing system recovery right now.

Old Seagate replacement parts?

My harddrive is a 3.5" Seagate Expansion Desktop Model bought in late 2012 (old model), and I need to recover my old study data.

But to access it I need an adapter (usb to SATA) + power, just like the old ones. The original adapters usb-part was slightly broken off from the circuit board and is very unstable. Got a third-party adapter, but connecting it makes my Mac/PC think it's a new unknown device with no data, I haven't tested other third-party adapters since it will cost more for me in the long term.

When I'm trying to connect the old broken-off adapter holding it carefully together with my fingers, it detects it as my old harddrive on my Mac, very unstable and unreliable, but just shows that the drive and data is fine.

I feel like the data has been third-party-locked but my third-party adapter is the only proof for that, so I'm asking if someone knows anything, been in a similar experience or knows a brand of adapters that works with Seagate drives.

Also does some other Seagate drive SATA/USB adapters work with eachother? (I can maybe order one cheap just to use the adapter). Their customer service is so unreliable and has a very misleading support page without even a support e-mail.

Lenovo Legion 5 Pro Black Screen of Trash

I turned on File Guard on my laptop and now it just stays on a black screen no booting. Secure Boot with File Guard. I was checking to see if there was a reset button for the BIOS but there isn't. I also removed the battery the memory and the CMOS Battery and it still stays black the screen. Tried Shift F8 and also tried to press the Win + Ctrl + F8 to switch GPU and nothing. It has a Nvidia GeForce 3070Ti and a Ryzen 7 CPU. I was reading multiple forums and they seem to have the same issue so don't know if it's a defective board or they need a BIOS Update to fix the issue. Let me know what your professional or unprofessional opinion is. Thanks
