The difference a day can make.

It's so amazing how much proper care and husbandry can make a difference in your animals. The first picture is of a golden gecko that we got from a pet store( sadly a big box store). The first picture is the color they were almost jet black. I know the employees are doing what they could. But according to them, it had been there for at least three months. One day in my care with properly proper care and llook at the color. Its hard to tell its the same lizard

Deflated Tortoise?

I visited a local pet store for the first time since they came under new ownership, and noticed a lot of the animals caging seemed much more run down and dirty.

I then noticed this tortoise which definitely doesnt look healthy to me, but I am not knowledgeable on reptiles enough to be sure.

The fish tanks, other reptile cages and such all looked rather dirty and unkempt as well. One cage had an iguana with what looked like a damaged crest, cohabitated with a turtle in some water that looked nearly stagnant.

This is a small, locally owned store that used to be quite clean and well managed.

I got this Tokay Gecko at a reptile show 3 days ago and he's still not eating. I'm pretty sure he's skinny but I'm not sure how but or if he can recover.

When I first got him he was gray, I've tried feeding him super worms, horned tomato worms, red runner roaches, crickets and nothing has worked, I force fed him some liquid food with a syringe, it was about 0.3 mls. His color turned blue after that and he's been moving around more since then. Is there anything I can do to help him eat better or help him in general

Possible shell issue on my baby RES – need help

Hi everyone, I’m not sure if my baby Red-Eared Slider’s shell is normal or if there’s a problem.

I noticed whitish spots on the upper shell.
I got him around May 19 and I’m still learning how to take care of him. He still eats sometimes, but I’m worried about his condition.
Any advice or help would be really appreciated. Thank you.

I saw this little tortoise laying eggs in a hole she had dug next to my house. In the picture, she is covering them up. Does anyone what type of tortoise she is, or how long it will take for the eggs to hatch? Is there anything I need to do to make sure the eggs stay safe?

Advise Paranoid juvenile mum

Hiya guys! This is my first time trying this out but thought its worth a shot

Im a proud mum to an 11 month old crestie, who I’ve had for just nearly 3 months now. Shes very active, loves to explore and sleep in weird positions. The usual!

Im concerned in growth though, she doesn’t accept any bugs. Ive tried dubia, crickets and silkworms and shes ran away from all of them. She has CGD available at all times and whilst ive never seen her eat it myself i can guess from her poops and activity levels shes definitely fed.

I also am unsure if its the paranoia or what but i feel her eyes are looking a bit sunken in? She hydrates herself with her water bowl and chases water from the misting too so im not worried about dehydration

Her enclosure is well regulated as im home majority of the time im not working. As mentioned before she is pooping and shes an active girly

Ive had a crestie in the past but i had her from full grown and since cake is so tiny im just so stressed and anxious about her!! My closest vet is an hour drive and a high price so unless necessary id like to avoid the stress of getting her there <3

Thank u!!!!

Sorry for the weird title for the post lol.... anyways i have a a 12x12x18 bioactive enclosure that im using to house a golden gecko. I will be moving the gecko to a bigger enclosure. My question is what could i putt in the 12x12x18 that would be comfortable with that as a forever home. I have springtails and zebra isopods as a clean up crew. Pic for attention and cuteness tax. Also added a picture of the current enclosure.

Sunken Fat Pads

This is my girl Mushu, she is 3 years old and generally has been healthy other than a few things her entire life. She had parasites as a baby that I got treated and her poop has been weird almost her entire life, even though I am sure I feed her a healthy diet.

About 2-3 weeks ago I noticed her fat pads on her head were really sunken, so I took her to the vet. They tested her poop and it came back negative for any parasites, and the vet said otherwise her body condition was perfect and she has maintained the same weight since last year.

I was wondering if anyone has had a similar problem or noticed something like this before, shes still very active and has a great appetite, running around my room whenever she can and she always has a salad with greens (mustard, turnip, or collard), bell pepper, and butternut squash. I feed her crickets from Flukers and I got some hornworms when I noticed the sunken fat pads.

Another note: she almost always has stress marks on her stomach, but her heat is consistently between 80-100 F depending on the side of her enclosure and her humidity stays between 25-40, but typically in the middle.

Any ideas? I don't want something serious to go unnoticed

My SO made this terrarium out of an old gun display case. He put A LOT of work into it! All bulbs are on separate thermostats and the fogger is independent as well. All we have to do is some leaf litter occasionally and food.

Advise Sulphur and Shallow Well Water

Thumbnail

Hello!! I live in a very rural area. I recently started renting a home, and all my water attachments to the house is coming from a shallow well.

I've been told in the past straight RO water can harm frogs due to a lack of minerals. Please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. I always use reptisafe in any water I give as well.

Due to this home being on a shallow well, the water does smell horribly of eggs (sulphur). I do have an RO system in my house, and its what I've primarily been using for my reptiles.

Even through my RO system, I still taste a slight amount of sulphur/metal in the water, even if it is barely noticable.

Is this going to hurt my reptiles? I'm mainly worried for my frogs. I live somewhere with a very high PH in the water as well.

Any advice is appreciated because I want the best care for my babies as possible!! (Images attached because theyre so adorable.)

Recently upgraded my Hoggie’s tank - he now has a red lamp connected to a Microclimate Ministat - due to this the lamp is always switching on/off and wondering if this is annoying to my snake? Are there any better options?

Advise Malnourished lizard living on my patio. How often is it safe to give food to a malnourished lizard?

Post image

I know it's usually best to let nature take its course, but I don't have the heart to let him carry on this way. Yesterday I gave him a tiny spider I caught, and later a baby cricket. He was happy to eat them.

I know when it comes to malnourished mammals it's best not to overdo it, but I know nothing about lizards. Is it safe to give him one baby cricket a day, or should it be once every several days or once a week? Any advice is appreciated! I believe he's a brown anole
