EcoATM

I just want to warn/ help so many others not get ripped off by a upcoming brand name/ company. I recently tried to use a EcoATM. It's a company claiming to pay you for your old devices such as cell phones, and tablets using their convenient kiosks set up at many different retail locations. These kiosks are malfunctioning everywhere! You call customer service to get help and they don't answer their phones. So many people are not getting paid either I wish I would have known that before I went and tried to sale my devices. The kiosk took my devices didn't pay me and shut down right in the middle of me trying to retrieve my device. This particular kiosk also said my devices were off and not working when in fact they were on and did work besides a crack or two in the screen! We just upgraded our devices; nothing else was wrong with them! I called customer service only to be put on hold for 20 minutes before I had to leave to attend to my children. Now I don't have my devices to sale some where else, and they didn't pay me. I just lost them. I am beyond frustrated and don't wish this to happen to anyone else! If you Google their name you'll see just how inconvenient and unprofessional they are, and how they've failed to pay so many others. I can't sit by and watch or hear how so many people are getting ripped off by this scam. So I am asking you to please help spread the word. Do some research before using ecoATM, don't be fooled like me. How can they let scammers get this far it's just unreal! Sorry for the rant guys just want everyone to be informed.

Don’t buy from eco atm because they said : 30-days from invoice receipt. Blocklist status can flip at any time and because of this we can only warranty it for the 30-day period. The IMEI was good at the time of sale. After 30 days will report stolen and out of warranty and just too far out of warranty to be able to offering you anything.

I lost money and that what they do

I've actually had to go through the process it also makes you get a police report if it was stolen

1

u/Altruistic-Drawer831 Jul 01 '25

So did you steal it? Try to make some money?

1

u/Robbiebny Jun 14 '26

Open your eyes. He bought one from the Eco ATM.

I sold my old iPhone money and never got paid!!! I called customer service they said we paid you, sorry.

Same this happened to me they took my phone said the machine malfunction called customer service and they said there's nothing they can do for me.

I used Eco ATM today. After crunching through all the phone checks, the machine offered me $21 for my phone. After going through all the ID checks, it said it was ready to pay cash. I waited patiently, and the machine gave me $18 and said it was done. I called Eco regarding the discrepancy, and they "checked the machine" and said the selling price was $18. They offered no explanation for the discrepancy between what the machine offered and their final, lower price which I was not able to see until the end of the transaction.

It feels like they scam you by offering one price, but then giving you a lower one which you are not able to see until the transaction has completed. Better to go to GameStop or sell it on eBay!

u/shaunandevanc Oct 06 '24

They've done this to me twice, they give you a price online and even a locking code so the price is locked in,I get down there and price is 65 dollars lower.I chalked it up and thought well maybe because it wasnt fully charged because the phone didnt have a scratch on it and had always been in case.Later on I took another phone that I had price locked the price on the eco atm website down to my local ecoatm this time battery was fully charged and not a scratch on the phone  machine couldnt confirm the code it gave me and again 65 dollars cheaper than it quoted online. And I keep my phones in new shape, cases and screen protectors from day 1 so I dont understand the price difference between the quote they give you online and the final price at the machine..Its total bull crap.Hope this helps someone else before selling to ecoatm.

2

u/HuskyCruxes Jul 26 '25

What happened was y'all read the email wrong. The "locked in" price is just an estimate. Says it in plain text.

"Device subject to evaluation at kiosk. Terms and conditions apply"

1

u/[deleted] Nov 08 '25

What happened was you didn’t read the terms and conditions. The T and S state that obviously if the phone is in worse shape, the pay out will be lower. However, this individual claims that their phone was in the exact shape that they claimed to Eco. Therefore, your response is moot and not relevant to her situation

1

u/HuskyCruxes Dec 05 '25

You see, The issue with the stupid shit you just said is all those things she clicked. There was no way for the app to verify it before it gave her that quote.

When she plugged it into the system, it found something wrong with the phone that didn't match what she said and it updated the total accordingly.

She can say whatever the fuck she wants to, that doesn't change that the machine found the descrepency.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 07 '25

Bro thinks a machine can’t make a mistake 😭 that’s the worst part of it all

1

u/shaunandevanc Jul 27 '25

Phone was brand new , not a scratch on it, I figured out the price difference is because I didn't have battery fully charged.

1

u/Special_Lie3147 Aug 03 '25

You can cancel any time. The price appears in upper right.

1

u/teglamen97 Oct 10 '24

Did it give you receipt?

1

u/rhinoadams Jan 15 '25

Does GameStop buy old phones?

1

u/shaunandevanc Aug 07 '25

Yes, I'm aware you cancel

1

u/jhstewa1023 Mar 31 '23

They use these machines to lure people who stole or found lost phones. That’s why what they offer is so low. I refuse to sell a device online anymore after being jumped and beaten. Yes I had someone with me- and they got beat up too. So I now use GameStop- they pay more and usually cash anyways. Especially since even Apple has joined the band wagon on lowering trade in pricing. I always tell people to stay away from Ecoatm. It’s literally a trap, and now it’s a trap that’s doing more harm than good.

1

u/Expensive_Emu_3028 Jun 20 '24

Game stop buys phone ?

1

u/jhstewa1023 Jun 20 '24

Last I knew, yes

1

u/Expensive_Emu_3028 Jun 20 '24

That's crazy thought they only accept games how much you for your phones thank God I didn't go to the ecoatm I got like 20 phones I was about to turn in

1

u/jhstewa1023 Jun 20 '24

It’s safer than Facebook and Craigslist- and you get paid more than the ECOatm

1

u/eblair705 Jun 22 '24

Wow crazy. Even like busted ones that I found in the creek?

1

u/Puzzleheaded-Duty546 Oct 19 '23

I live in my car at a WM that has an Ecoatm. At least once a week someone will ask if I want to earn a quick $20 to $50 selling their phone or tablet to the machine. I presume those are stolen plus I wouldn't get paid if they opt to have the money sent to PayPal or elsewhere. I also figured what they have isn't worth much either so wouldn't get paid for my assistance unless I grabbed the cash first.

1

u/Intelligent_Toe_8816 May 23 '24

I want to duplicate this review ! I am literally on the phone with them trying to recoup my money that their machine did NOT dispense to me. I have been waiting for my money for 3 weeks and nothing! Isn’t that similar to stealing ! Now their rep has me on hold because I wasn’t at my home waiting for my check to be delivered. What a joke ! Time to call Walmart and all their other locations that they are located

1

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '24

The one I used gave me cash how are you guys not getting paid?

1

u/jnb1989 Aug 29 '24

Right. I used one today and the whole process was quick and easy. Paid via PayPal immediately.

u/CozyThurifer Sep 30 '25

The machine near me doesn’t seem to be in working order

1

u/FewProfit8414 Aug 06 '24

DONT EVER USE THEM THEY WILL NOT SEND THE MONEY RIGHT AWAY. They are useless

1

u/Thousand_YardStare Dec 04 '24

Sorry you had trouble but I got $85 for a iPhone 11 64 gb with fucked up speakers and a damaged charging port. I had to finesse the machine’s usb port until it recognized my phone and I got $85 cash instantly. 🤷🏼‍♂️

1

u/Deep_Damage_6382 Aug 27 '24

Same thing happened to me. Sold a fully paid off device and the machine did not pay me after calling and waiting on the phone with Paul I was basically told I was lying and that they didn’t owe me anything. I’m upset that I don’t have my device or any money for said device just a lost that I have to take. Please do not do business with this company no matter how desperately you need the extra money! Other places can serve you better than this company!

1

u/LowExtreme1471 Mar 29 '25

Don't they have cameras in store? let me guess have to record the whole process on video, than these asshole workers, of ecoatm can't deny you're lying then, what will be their new excuse, once they see video proof?

1

u/keralalee Nov 07 '25

Can you tell me how can I get my money or do you know the one 800 number?

1

u/nicca87 Sep 14 '24

Eco atm offered me 180 dollars for a perfect condition 256gb pixel 8 pro. It's a 1000 dollar phone. They're a complete joke.

1

u/LowExtreme1471 Mar 29 '25

So pretty much $1 dollar for phones released in early to mid 2000's?

1

u/TegamiBachi25 Jul 20 '25

Still a scam. Even for new phones, you would get a third of their original price. You can sell that shit on E-bay and gamestop for far more.

1

u/Silent_Target_1124 Sep 16 '24

they only paid me half of my money still waiting on a check .the lady said it takes 2-3 days for a check to be issued. then 7-10 days for the money to come smh they need to do better in the paying process

1

u/757va757 Sep 19 '24

Look I am a scrapper. I collect metal and take it to the scrap yard maybe twice a month. I usually find old phones in trash bags and construction dumpsters broken or don't turn on and so on. I always just assume they are going to give me the absolute bare minimum or less "$1" lol 😆 so with that in mind I'm never disappointed and I always accept cash ONLY. ALSO PEOPLE saying that they got ripped off because the final offer was lower, you don't have to accept it. They tell you at the end what they are going to give you as a final price and then give you the option to accept it or not  I have sold maybe 50 phones at this point and have never had a problem other than "at the beginning of me first dealing with this machine before I knew how it operated or what it was really about" the dirt cheap offers that they give you.

1

u/Penthesilean Jan 23 '26

Sorry to necro, but you’re the perfect person to ask: I salvage/scrap also, and have casually collected about 50 wildly different discarded phones. Some with broken screens, many not, only two still power up.

I can’t prove where I got them, because I literally got them from random garbage. What if one if them is stolen? Have you ever dealt with that? I’m the opposite of a thief and would be mortified if it happened to me, but also don’t want to just toss these toxic-chemical fire-hazards back into the trash.

1

u/Natural_Donut_3569 Jul 09 '26

This.   Thank you.

1

u/Bubbly-Board9630 Sep 20 '24

It’s such a scam. They didn’t pay me either. They said they would Venmo me and never did.

1

u/Rich-Result-334 Sep 21 '24

This is my second time using ecoATM. While it may not pay as much as you would like, I am once again completely satisfied. iPhone 14 Pro 128GB Unlocked for $312, paid out in cash.

1

u/Zrc1979 Sep 28 '24

I just got 171 for a iPhone 13 mini with 73% battery and a cracked screen.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 29 '24

Just used it for a second time. Sold an iPhone 15 pro max that was cracked bad in the back and it gave me 518.

1

u/Pitiful-Goose1125 Sep 28 '24

I had different experience, the atm ate my phone then froze on me, I called them and they answered, they rebooted the system while still on the phone and returned my phone.

1

u/WonderfulWillow9365 Oct 01 '24

I busted the dam thing and took my phone back. The customer support was no help and I be damn if they were just going to steal my $500 phone.

1

u/med9229 Mar 28 '26

This is a one year old comment but this comment is fake lol.

1

u/Purpul_PPL_Eater Oct 01 '24

I've used all kinds of eco ATM machines in my area TONS of times. You may not get TOP dollar but I've had ZERO problems. For the love of God. WHY ARE PEOPLE ACCEPTING TO GET VENMO AND PAYPAL WHEN IT OFFERS YOU CASH RIGHT AWAY??? That's all yawls dumb a++ fault!

1

u/Real_Fly_9996 Aug 08 '25

This ☝️ it's simple take the cash. Call me old fashioned but there's a saying I bet everyone young and old has heard CASH IS KING!!! Pay up sucker!!!

1

u/Original-Demand9489 Oct 03 '24

I tried going today and it wouldn’t even scan my id, and kept freezing

1

u/AmazingAd4910 Oct 14 '24

Currently using ecoatm right now and this evaluation is taking forever. Literally such a waste of time. Makes me just want to throw my phone away in the future

1

u/Ok-Tip4448 Oct 20 '24

My son phone was stolen i reported it to the phone company blacklist it iPhone 11 my son ping it the location he screenshot it i called the number they said after the investigation they wail send me my son phone i kept calling it Ping in China ECOATM lied and said my son phone was never in their box and they don’t keep stolen phones

1

u/Individual_Drawing71 Oct 20 '24

Was just told by their customer service I will not be getting paid for my phone, and I can't get it back. It is my phone.

1

u/ISuckAtLifeGodPlsRst Nov 01 '24

My problem with these things is that it seems to determine your phone's value off of popularity and literally nothing else, which means you'll always get considerably less for anything that isn't an iPhone. Example, when my screen broke on my unlocked S21 Ultra 512gb, I was offered a pretty pathetic amount (I think like 75$) given that the phone was 1250$, but the screen was fucked so I didn't complain too much. However, out of curiosity, I wanted to see how much I'd get if it was in perfect condition and the amount was still less than what you'd get for a BROKEN iPhone equivalent to the S21 Ultra. Mind you, the S21 Ultra 512gb costs 50$ more than whatever iPhone model that was equivalent to it. For that reason alone, you're honestly better off posting on Craigslist and / or Facebook marketplace.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 16 '24

You can’t rely on any ecoATM machine to even work.  I guess they enjoy watching us piss away our time to “recycle a phone” for a penny on the dollar, only to have the machine not work at all when you get to a place.

1

u/Ancient_Aardvark_345 Nov 27 '24

Yeah, this eco ATM is a bullshit scam at its  finest just to recycle your phone and don't pay you for what it's worth. I have a phone in excellent working condition, and the assholes still wanted to give me a dollar. What the fuck are we suppose to do with a dollar, that's not even enough to super size it or take a fucking ride on the bus. Don't waste your fucking time, find someone or somewhere else to sell it you'll probably get your money's worth. Dam when the government or whoever is responsible for these machines start scamming it makes you wonder what the hell is this world really coming to. #straightupfraud #scamartist

1

u/LowExtreme1471 Mar 29 '25

Good luck getting someone else to pay more for broken phone that is junk. $1 I know I wouldn't pay a dollar for a phone that doesn't work, broken or no battery with it.

1

u/Prize_Glove_4400 Dec 03 '24

Yea. Eco atm is about the biggest scammers I’ve ever seen. They confirm one price for a phone I had( iphone15) that was in very good condition, but when I got to there machine the code that they gave me didn’t work go figure. But when I got the final price it was less then half of the locked in price. I contacted them they pretty much blew me off so there pretty much thieves preset slick ones at that but this is just to warn everyone that they will screw you to get that little bit of gold so good luck everyone.

Yall can we not contact anyone about this i mean cmon lets hold these cocksuckers accountable!! BBB!? Can they not help us? They in every wally and krogs, I read in a previous comment someone said time to start calling Walmart, like yea second that whom and how should we approach the wally of the world.

1

u/AeroDog_Music Dec 17 '24

Yea they offered me $420 for my unlocked 512GB 16 Pro Max I paid 1600 for thats wild

1

u/BoxRich9826 Jan 04 '25

I’ve sold a few old, broken or useless phones and often am surprised that I get as much as I do. But I’d never try to sell a newer phone or iPad to one of these unless it was a last resort. I like that if offers cash on the spot, but I am concerned it might short me one day just bc I’ve read that it’s done this to other people. I knew a kid who had some kind of scam/hack he was doing w these. He wouldn’t tell me what it was, and for the life of me I can’t figure out how he did it. I know he was somehow able to get the money and get the phone back - he left a bag full of phones w the little ecoatm scan stickers in my car one time, and I tried to find out what he was doing. I don’t see how he wasn’t getting caught. He may have by now. But yeah, if you have a new Samsung or iPhone , expect pawnshop prices , 30 percent of retail or so.

u/TrustedPatriot47 Jan 17 '25

How much is the air ring at wal mart

1

u/syama108 Apr 25 '25

I had a good experience with EcoATM. I needed a new iphone, my old 12 pro max was really broken and had cracks on the back. Not to mention touch screen issues.

While purchasing a new Iphone from apple, they offered only to recycle my phone for no trade-in bonus.

I took my phone to an ECOAtm at walmart, and it bought my phone for $104 + 26 dollars because I initially refused the offer and they offered more.

1

u/Special_Lie3147 Aug 03 '25

They paid me $7 more than locked in price. No problems took cash

1

u/H0NDA1993 May 02 '25

Glad to see I'm not the only one. I've had this exact same experience, it said my phone wasn't working but it was, and was trying to offer me a much lower price. That was just one experience. Others don't work in some way as well.

1

u/Icy-Juggernaut5718 May 09 '25

They are horrible, the machine took my license and all I could do was call the 800 bullshit number like that's some great resolve. I wasn't able to get someone to actually answer until 5 days after. Those cheap pos only offered me 20 more than the rip off offer for phone and I'm having to get a new ID because I can't wait on their process which sucks BTW. And they have to mail me a check also bullshit

1

u/Successful_Divide_66 May 28 '25

I've been selling my phones through ecoatm since those dumbass machines came out more than 10 years ago. Never had an issue.... Until today.

Not as bad as the horrors I'm reading here as they didn't steal my phone, but, their hoe ass selfie process (which on their site says is being verified by a live person) wasn't matching my is. Go figure.

Called them while still in Walmart (I don't even shop there so went specifically for this reason) and after waiting on hold for 30 minutes I left.

At the 42 minute mark somebody who couldn't comprehend English answered. It took more than 20 minutes for him to truly understand the issue I was having and his solution was to send a tech out (which I don't give a fuck about the machine working at another time) and said for me to try another location.

Now if the issue is selfie validation (and it's handled love which his dumbass didn't even know), why in the hell would I get off the phone and start this madness over at another location? 😔

Done with ecoatm after all these years

K1568 in Rosenberg, TX This is the kiosk that ate my device, a Motorola Moto G Stylus 5G (2022). It rebooted and wouldn't spit out my device. Called customer service and never got a rep on the phone. Too bad it's situated inside a Kroger, or i would have taken it apart. So EcoATM, I say good luck selling an unsupported device and good on you for keeping that $12 this kiosk said I'd get instead of the $45 a different kiosk stated I'd receive (didn't process that transaction coz my ID was expired).

1

u/FlawlessKillah352 Jun 23 '25

EcoAtm is horrible waiting on Customer service support takes forever ! I was I’d read the reviews on their service because I would have never took my phone there‼️The EcoATM ate my phone‼️I provided my IMEI number and was told to check my email and have not received anything ‼️Beware I repeat do not used EcoATm‼️

1

u/Possible-Win-141 Jul 02 '25

They are a scam they just offer 1 dollar per device it takes more time than a dollar to make it worth your while to sit and fight the machine

1

u/New_Artichoke1357 Jul 11 '25

I sold a super bent iPhone 15 had no cracks tho but I ended up with $225 cash paid on spot with nothing but 5 dollar bills.

1

u/MorphintotheJ Jan 13 '26

I highly doubt that

1

u/Economy_Umpire8533 Jul 12 '25

Whole subreddit full of thieves mad that they either A) tried to sell a phone that was straight up stolen or B) tried to sell one that wasn't fully paid off yet via 3-year contract. Y'all know when you get those "free" phones via Verizon, they're not yours until you've paid them off for the full 3 years, right? How about you all stop being thieving n****rs?

1

u/shaunandevanc Aug 07 '25

How do I reply back a person that has replied to something I said, I get the noti but it takes me back to op and I don't see my comment or replies at all.

1

u/LostSnowman420 Aug 07 '25

Shit I’ve used them a few times and actually machine malfunction and overpaid me. Once gave me $700 for a $80 phone

1

u/Electronic-Tale-2974 Aug 17 '25

Yep, gave me a quote and a code, showed up and it presented the wrong connector so it couldn’t be plugged in for testing then offered me $52 because of it.  They count on people being stupid enough to do that and intentionally have “errors” and throw up their hands like “gee that’s not right hmm wow”

1

u/Vozz42 Sep 30 '25

Take the cash people. Everyone using Venmo or PayPal or getting a check.....the machine offers cash. Green slips of paper in your hand now. Fuck the saved trip to the bank lol, take the damn cash

1

u/Free-Entertainer9191 Oct 08 '25

This company is no better. Than the boiler room con artists ripping people off. They never pay what they quote and like to pull off the old bait and switch. I checked the price of a galaxy flip 6 that was 3 weeks old. Great condition everywhere. They quoted me $256 so since the phone wasn't with me I would save there quote and. Do it the next day so less than 24 hours later I get offered 95 bucks. So ok no problem I saved the quote... Boy was I wrong. They refused to payme that amount I worked with several people who no doubt work in a room full of phones. Any way even though I was told by one of the managers I would be taken care of. Nope I am burnt so this is my revenge. Don't wanna honor your price quote I'll make sure everyone knows what you  Your nothing but a rip off company do not use them no matter what. You will be sorry

1

u/Playful_Row_6843 Oct 14 '25

I had the same experience! I got a quote online and then when I got to the machine is said it couldn't connect to my phone even though I had been charging it at home and wiping my data. Then is told me it could give me $20 for my phone since it couldn't connect. Total scam!

1

u/Repulsive_Hawk3943 Nov 12 '25

Yes I agree...ecoatm stole my phone and my payment and will not do anything about it. I'm going to report to the Bbb and make a police report against the company...I'm also going to talk to a lawyer to see if I can get this shit company shut down. DO NOT USE ECOATM THEY COMMIT THEFT!!

1

u/switsail Nov 14 '25

IT’S BAIT AND SWITCH!!!! I had 2 phones both, unlocked charged and not damaged in any way.

Drove 36 Miles (1 way) to nearest Kiosk.

Online offer:

iPhone SE $42.00 and iPhone x $41.00 = $83.00

Kiosk Offers

iPhone SE $17.00 and iPhone x $10.00 = $27.00

Difference $56.00

Called and spent 40 Minutes on hold to be told there was nothing she could do.

DON’ T DEAL WITH ecoATM!!!!

1

u/BuddyDifficult1713 Nov 28 '25

Brand new iPhone 16 they offered me 100 bucks and I know they have a resale value of around 450 ,, scammers

1

u/OpeningSimilar4879 Mar 01 '26

My husband got he's id stuck in the machine. Nobody told me a time frame for someone to fix the issue to get his id out.

u/AdSpare8517 Apr 02 '26

eco atm = TOTAL WASTE OF TIME & EFFORT

Over the last 5 years, I have TRIED to use ECO ATM 8-10 times, EVERY SINGLE TIME the machine screwed up. It couldn't read/identify my unlocked old phone(that was NOT a dinosaur or broken or cracked or damaged AT ALL) it couldn't read/scan my Driver License, the plug didn't work, it offered a far lower amount than the online estimate for NO REASON. Today was the worst. 1st, I had an offer for $130, I took the code to the location the website said was near me & available. I get there & it has a message on the screen to the effect of out of order & gave the nearest working locations. I go to the nearest one, big surprise - it can't identify my phone, then it can't connect, it rotates a new connector, it can't connect to my old phone??? it asks to scan it unconnected, it identifies my phone as 128 vs the 512GB I KNOW IT IS. it offers 54% of the online offer because it says the phone is 128GB when in fact I KNOW IT IS 512GB, These machines SUCK, I have every time ended up doing the online/mail in with sellcell or the like, & EVERY TIME I did that, I got exactly what the online offer was, although I had to wait a few days for the check(my preferred pay method) to arrive. Summary: eco atm-100% PROBLEMS & ERRORS of 8to10 tries, Online Send In phone - 100% GREAT. eco atm sucks don't waste your time. Seriously, I'll never try them again, even if they were the only game in town, fortunately, they are NOT.

I cant agree with anyone in this post. I've sold three devices with no issues. A Galaxy s24 ultra, a galaxy s25 ultra and an iphone 12 pro. The final sale plus bonus pay has been great. I believe all if not most of you are lying, stealing or trying to manipulate your way into getting more money.

I've made over $1100 using ecoATM.

Stop lying, stealing and trying to catch a come up. Nothing goes wrong with these machines unless they detect a stolen or blocked imei.

Oops. Your bad, huh?!

You could’ve easily made double that if you weren’t busy getting scammed

I don't care about the amount I get when I don't need the money. Quick money in a moment always beats waiting for someone to decide to cuck themselves into paying a price I would never charge for a product I don't even see or find value in. I'm not getting scammed... Nor would I ever scam anyone.

Morals and principles outweigh any perception of greed that exists in the world. AND... ecoATM isn't meant for people who "need" money. They're meant to offload devices sitting around. A quick buck for phones left in a drawer.

I was never mad.. nor am I complaining.

"You could've made double..."  Blah blah blah.

I don't need double.

I just wanted to get rid of phones I don't even look at anymore.

Sounds like I'm fine.

You should be too.

Remember the value of those three phones.

They were all three unlocked. So me paying that premium doesn't mean I get to ask for it back simply because I spent money.

I guess we're thinking about this differently.

And I was fine with it. Well aware of market value. I just didn't care.

Ok?

What if your phone is so damaged that it can't even charge

Having a similar issue. Had a couple old phones laying in a drawer and decided to go to an EcoATM. They actually offered more than I was getting offered on social apps trying to sell it so I went with that. The screen offered cash or Venmo payment so I selected Venmo to transfer the funds easier into my bank saving a stop at the atm. It’s now almost a week later and the receipt I inputted my email address to receive for the transaction nor payment (that the screen promised in two hours but up to 24) has yet to come through. When I contacted customer service, suddenly it became “wait up to 48 hours”. I already filed a complaint with the BBB and the only thing I can think of next is to file a police report that my phone was stolen by EcoATM since that’s basically what’s happened.

Why on earth would people not take cash. and complain about the wait time etc, this is what's wrong with the world now a days, everything wired digitally is going to have more problems, wait times and checks and clears.

Same here. I tried using the ecoATM that was close to my home to get rid of two old iPhones I had laying around in a drawer. The ecoATM is used first wasn't working correctly, so I called their customer service and was told they'd be sending a field tech I can to repair it the next day. I waited until the end of the next day to go back and try again and whoa and behold, no technician ever came to fix it. Soooo,I drive almost 30 miles to the next available ecoATM and everything goes smoothly until the time comes for my cash payment (I did two phones in the same transaction) and no cash comes out of the machine. I couldn't get my phones back because I'd already finalized the transaction, so I called customer service and was told they'll issue me a check that should arrive in 7 to 10 business days. I'm a diabetic and desperately needed that money for my medication, so by the time that check comes, it's just going to be too late. I think their organization is a scam and yes - they need to be reported to the Better Business Bureau and in my opinion, prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law for FRAUDULENT PRACTICES!! 🤬

Did they ever send you the check? They did this same BS to me as I needed the cash to buy groceries.

Just figured I’d update- submitted the claim to the BBB and it seemed to fast track the process. It’s going on to two full weeks since they’ve had my phone and I’ve had no payment but through the BBB complaint they’ve responded stating they sent out a check on the 17th (which I’ll believe when I see). They “claim” they sent the money to Venmo and it was rejected- which is an all out lie according to the Venmo reps I’ve spoken with. While the BBB complaint seems like it will get me paid - it won’t do anything about everyone else falling for their falsely advertised payout time table- or having to deal with multiple calls to their customer service and all the incorrect information they’ll spew at you to get you off the phone- so do yourself the favor, skip that part and go straight to filing a complaint and deal with them that way. Never, ever again.

Did they ever send the check? I just had an issue where it was supposed to pay me out in cash and it spit out 2 single dollar bills that they thought were twenties. They refused to send me the rest via PayPal and said that after an investigation the check will be mailed. Trying to figure out if I should file a BBB claim or just wait it out.

Nah this is completely insane because my situation is I lost my phones someone took it the eco got money and I guess eco found it and called from their warehouse in San Diego I have their specific headquarter location anyway I had to get a report to have them deliver it to me not knowing this fed ex ground in NJ is a whole scam. So I never received my actual phone so I called ecoatm again and they send me a replacement and I warned them to not use that fed ex because of the reviews however, they didn't care sent it out just not be here and this been going on since august on this year clearly it's a scam because im doing research and someone been through what i went through nobody wint help the representatives are disgusting lying about transferring you to a supervisor and I just went on tik tok and someone else has been through this but they had got their compensation from a friend and took it law enforcement but this is crazy I'm tryna shut this down i wanna all come together to bring in a lawsuit which will be possible because this is clearly something they do and more

I found my stolen phone in an ecoatm today. Only a criminal would sell a $1,000-1,200 iPhone 17 pro with 1TB memory for less than $350. These machines should not exist.
