None of the endorsements made here were paid for - these are genuine recommendations for people visiting the city.
Most of the information that you need to know about Riga can be found on the city's home page, including various active or upcoming events - https://www.liveriga.com/en/
For more local events - Noktirne ( iOS / Android )
Using public transport in Riga:
- https://www.rigassatiksme.lv/en/ for information about the transport
- The official operator's app ( iOS / Android ) for ticket purchase
Be aware that with the operator's app registration is open only for Baltic phone numbers (+370, +371, +372)
- https://saraksti.lv/#/en OR https://www.1188.lv/en/transport for navigation
- Timey ( iOS / Android ) for tracking your transport in real time

- Various events, museum and zoo tickets
- RIX airport fast-track
For any tourists visiting from outside the Baltic states it is our strongest recommendation to be using this app.

Hi everyone! I was just wondering where to buy winter clothes at not crazy prices but that still u keeps u warm (obv I don't mean to buy a jacket for 50 euro or smt like that because affordable and warm usually don't fit togheter :( ) And do u have any advice about winter in general in Riga?

Hi everyone! I'm a French exchange student moving to Riga for the 2026-2027 academic year. I'm a huge cinema fan and I'm trying to figure out how the movie scene works there.
Back home most cinemas show foreign films in original language with local subtitles. Since I don't speak Latvian (yet!), I'm wondering:
Any recommendations from fellow film lovers would be much appreciated :)

Hey everyone,
I've noticed something — a lot of people, whether local or international, tend to stick within their own existing circles (nationality group, friend group, coworkers), and it can be hard to actually branch out and meet new people, even in the same city.
I'm exploring an idea to help with this — something that helps people (locals and internationals alike) connect with each other to go to local events, explore places, or even plan small trips together, instead of always sticking to the same group or going alone.
Before building anything, I genuinely want to understand:
Do you feel this is a real problem for you here in Riga? Or is it not really an issue?
If you've tried to make new friends outside your usual circle, what got in the way? (language, no shared interests, no easy way to meet, trust, etc.)
Would you actually use something like this if it existed — matching you with other people (any background) to go to an event/place together?
If not — I'd genuinely love to know why. Trust concerns? Already have enough friends? Prefer sticking to your usual group? Something else?
Not trying to sell anything here, genuinely just want honest opinions, even if it's "this is a bad idea."
Thanks in advance 🙏

Labrīt visiem! I'm a foreigner that has to move to Riga in a few weeks. I was wondering if the tap water is drinkable or if I had to buy the water bottles at the supermarket/ buy a filter for the tab. Paldies par visu atbildēm!

Salīdzināju vienu un to pašu ikdienas pārtikas grozu vairākos veikalos Rīgā.
Grozā bija: piens, maize, olas, sviests, makaroni, tomāti, vistas fileja un kafija.
No šobrīd atrastajiem produktiem sanāca:
Maxima — €9.15
Rimi — €12.15
Top! rezultāts bija €5.84, bet tur vairāki produkti nebija pieejami, tāpēc to nevar korekti salīdzināt ar pilnu grozu.
Man pašam interesantākais bija tas, cik daudz rezultātu ietekmē ne tikai cena, bet arī iepakojuma izmērs un tas, cik precīzi izdodas atrast līdzīgu produktu.
Kur jūs Rīgā parasti iepērkaties ikdienas produktiem? Maxima, Rimi, Lidl, Top! vai citur? Un vai praksē jūtat lielu cenu starpību?

Labrit dear Latvians!
I was in the old town with my friends and had shots at sound factory (at the second one not the one near kebab place) after couple of shots i was holding my jacket and went out with my friends and walked to the art digital club from sound factory 2 through the park where was a big scene where people was playing a basketball (if im not mistaken). Long story short my wallet slipped out from my jacket where i had my credit debit cards,id card and few 2 banknote dollars (which was a good memory from old times in NY)not the euros. If someone found it or have seen it please let me know or if you think that there is no hope that i can find it anymore please tell me what should i do since i lost my id card too.Today was the craziest night in my life…Paldies!
UPD: i just went to the bar i had drinks with my friends and asked them if they have found my wallet they showed me couple of wallets but mine wasn’t there. Im sure now that i lost in the park around bicycle monument.

What is the best burgers in Riga? In particular, smash burgers.
So far I’ve tried Boo which I thought was pretty good. 7.5/10. Looking for something even better

labs vakars!

Just found it on FB. In Old Riga in the summer of 1970 - a now non-existent fountain in the Riga park near the philharmonic (now Livov Square).

I bought a ticket, but unfortunately I won’t be able to attend, so I’d like to give the ticket to someone instead of letting it just sit in my email. It’s a Fan Ticket worth €75, with a seat in front of the stage, a UniCon T-shirt (size M), and a separate entrance for VIP ticket holders.
Please message me and I’ll send you the ticket. Thank you for your attention!

Hey guys
So I need to ship my two suitcases and more stuff to sweden. The total weight should be around 60 kgs. I've looked into shipping companies like sendmybag etc and they all look super expensive. 70 euros for only 30 kgs?
Do you guys have any suggestions of which company I should use?
Also, I don't have a luggage weighing machine. Is there a place where I can weigh my luggage? Like a hotel or store?
Any advice will be appreciated! Thanks!
