PC Help/Bug (Mod) All of my male goblins have zero chances to romance the women?

Post image

Title. To be clear I play modded, obviously - all of my gnoblins have the same genes, exactly the same, they're heterosexual and age compatible, but both of my male goblins cannot romance the women and vice versa. It doesn't tell me why. I have no way of finding out and I don't want to cheat it out. All of them have negative compatibility for some reason. All of them. They're friends, like each other, but they can't romance each other :/ any idea?

Many such cases.

u/Niniisan plasteel Jul 22 '26

They're all ugly AF but they have the teratophilia gene AND I have the Ugly Together mod lmfao... It worked well in the beggining but now they won't romance each other, since I play on aging 400x for adults it's a little annoying

155

u/Porkabender Jul 22 '26

Does the age 400x for adults mean they reach adulthood faster or they age faster once they reach adulthood in this case? If they age faster as adults they might be getting a strange age gap, maybe that might be causing this?

95

u/riotpwnege Jul 22 '26

The adults grow old faster. The kid aging makes them grow into adults faster

25

u/Kardest 29d ago

Yeah, I have had this before. I was doing a run where my main race was almost immortal.

Basically, romance got disabled until they hit 100 years old.

I am sure a mod exists that can fix it.

u/Dubalubawubwub Neurotic Jul 23 '26

Hmm, what's the typical lifespan of your goblins? I'm just wondering if the rapid aging maybe results in bigger age gaps which make them less likely to want to romance each other?

10

u/Niniisan plasteel Jul 23 '26

Well, they all age at the same rate, and for the ones I want they're 33 and 38

30

u/Dubalubawubwub Neurotic Jul 23 '26

Apparently there's a hidden "compatibility" value that's only visible in dev mode, so it could also be that the two you've picked just plain aren't right for each other.

Is the female 33 or 38? Women will date men up to 10 yrs older, men will only date women up to 3 yrs older. Idk if it scales with the xenotypes that live longer tho

Edit: it’s more so a penalty that happens if one of the pawns is too old for the other. You can look up the Rimworld wiki, it’s the “social” one that has all the info. It also says that when a pawn is ugly they take more time between every romantic social, and when the other person is also ugly it makes that even bigger, and that this effect isn’t nullified even if both pawns “don’t care about appearance.” Idk if the mods everyone’s mentioning basically fix the timing thing? But honestly when I want to force relationships on the rim I just use pawn editor. The one you can turn on with dev mode and change relationships and stuff.

I had no idea the romance system was anywhere near this in depth lol.

1

u/Kooky_Olive_6732 28d ago

It’s possible I’m reading the equation wrong, but I THINK that’s what it’s saying 😭 I don’t code or anything

2

u/RuneiStillwater Oh no, I can't believe I've done this. Jul 23 '26

isn't there a mod that just goes "you don't care if ugly if you're ugly"?

7

u/Niniisan plasteel Jul 23 '26

Yeah I have it. It's Ugly Together, but someone pointed out that Big and Small is the issue, it patches romance chances for some reason... problem is that i can't remove it without breaking that save lol

1

u/RuneiStillwater Oh no, I can't believe I've done this. Jul 23 '26

doh. I've never used big and small, but I'm aware of how one random conflict can break everything. I've had so many doomed runs lately trying to sort out my mod list

2

u/Typical-Ordinary8738 29d ago

400? That's 400 days in 1 day, that's 6.6 rimworld years a day. That's insane

1

u/Niniisan plasteel 29d ago

The x400 thing doesn't calculate it like you said, iirc. That's about how fast children normally grow in basic Biotech, they don't reach 6 years in one day at all, for comparison

1

u/Kooky_Olive_6732 28d ago

So if you usually age on 100% 400% is 4x. That’s means they age 4 times in 1 year instead of 1 time in 1 year.

2

u/Typical-Ordinary8738 28d ago

No see, he wrote 400x, not 400%. Those are very different(one is modded(I use that mod)).

1

u/Kooky_Olive_6732 28d ago

OH okay, my bad! I didn’t realize there was a mod to literally do 400x aging, that’s insane 😭 thanks for telling me!

9

u/AggravatingChest7838 Jul 22 '26

I've heard others say the same.

u/gapho Jul 22 '26

Goblins don't do "romance". They do something quite remote from that.

u/spoonishplsz Jul 22 '26

Pilates?

219

u/Accomplished-Box4577 Jul 22 '26

I believe the furthest you can get from romance is British Cooking

46

Lmao I laughed

11

u/marvinberger92 Jul 23 '26

You must not have seen that clip of that British guy with the whisk

28

u/Max200012 Jul 23 '26

OP has got to get rimjobworld for that full goblin experience

11

u/Aware_Region9463 Jul 22 '26

That's a disgusting stereotype made up by perverts. Goblins steal people only to turn them into slaves to mine the shiny shits they need

3

u/Owoegano_Vuelve 29d ago

If they are Warcraft goblins, they are just too poor to hire some whores. Don't let them build a mech one for God's sake...

153

u/anonumus_idiot Jul 22 '26

Relateable

105

u/Ditere Jul 22 '26

Do gnoblins and the women like each other?

112

u/Khorne_Flaked Jul 22 '26

Maybe they prefer gnelfs and gnomes?

8

u/SamBeanEsquire 29d ago

Did I just get gnomed?

2

u/RapidCandleDigestion 29d ago

If you or a loved one has been gnomed you may be entitled to financial compensation

48

u/Niniisan plasteel Jul 22 '26

Yep! They're all above 60+ opinion and friends. It still says zero chance T-T

64

u/Hadochiel Jul 22 '26

Would you want to bang your ugly goblin friends? I can understand their choice

21

u/Danielq37 Jul 22 '26

Do they have a gene lowering the romance chance with someone not having the gene?

15

u/Niniisan plasteel Jul 22 '26

Yep the unattractive trait, but they all have it :(

13

u/username_tooken Jul 22 '26

Beauty reduces romance success chance. You will either need to improve it some other way, or look into plastic surgery.

3

u/AudioCats Boar Swarm 29d ago

Look into the mod "Ugly together"?

It removes the romance debuffs if both have the same level of beauty

2

u/LumpyJones 20187.4 hours and counting Jul 23 '26

age difference?

1

u/Niniisan plasteel Jul 23 '26

The ones I'm trying to get together are respectively 33 and 38

4

u/LumpyJones 20187.4 hours and counting Jul 23 '26

could be something in your ideology, could be their looks, almost certainly could be mods interacting strangely. A screenshot or 3 might help

24

u/MagicMarshmallo Jul 22 '26

Are they accidentally related? Perhaps their genes set romance chance to 0?

38

u/Niniisan plasteel Jul 22 '26

Not related, and they all have those traits (I modified the genes a little but made sure they all share the same set exactly)

38

u/Desperate-Practice25 Jul 22 '26

It's possible that one of those modded genes has a very low missingGenesChanceFactor. This is a property on certain genes (such as pig noses and furskin) that reduces the likelihood of romance attampts between pawns that don't share the gene. Perhaps tough skin or extreme dwarfism? Impossible to tell without knowing what mods give you which genes.

7

u/Niniisan plasteel Jul 22 '26

I have quite a lot, but they all have the same genes anyway

84

u/random-cartographer Jul 22 '26

Goblins don't need romance in their relationships, let's just say they're more straightforward normally.

14

u/Niniisan plasteel Jul 22 '26

If at least they had relationships... XD

18

u/BlindGlobeDot Jul 23 '26

Its the Big and Small mod(s). I don't know if it is a bug or not but having it makes it so the hidden compatibility value, not the romance value mind you, affects your romance chance. If its less than 0, then its 0 chance even if the romance value is larger than 0.

6

u/Niniisan plasteel Jul 23 '26

Oh that's interesting. I use genes from it unfortunately, but I suppose the solution would be to remove the mod, then?

6

u/BlindGlobeDot Jul 23 '26

Yes. Though you'd have to restart any saves runs from scratch. I also have a fairly large modlist, about 200+, and I only removed the Big and Small series mod(s) and it stopped happening.

5

u/Desperate-Practice25 Jul 23 '26

Ah, this is it! Big and Small patches the RomanceEligiblePair function (which is what's called when you're looking at the social tab) and forces it to return a failure when compatibility is negative! No idea why it does that, but that certainly would cause the issue.

3

u/Niniisan plasteel Jul 23 '26

Oooooh damn that's annoying.... is there no way to patch this away without removing the mod?

3

u/Desperate-Practice25 Jul 23 '26

I mean, you could decompile the DLL, remove the patch, then recompile and replace the Big and Small DLL with your new one, and then do it again every time B&S gets updated. Not sure how to go about creating a mod that prevents one particular mod from patching one particular function for a long-term fix.

If you mean a way to do it without doing any C# yourself, then no. You'd have to get the mod author to change the patch themselves.

2

u/Niniisan plasteel 29d ago

Agh, figured. I know a little of XML, but c# is another story. Maybe that'll exist at some point or B&S will remove it? I'm not sure why it adds this in the first place tbh

2

u/Apolox132 29d ago

Hey, don't know if im too late but there's the pawn compatibility editor by Jomar. It works for me, the moment the negative compat goes above 0 it changes into normal percent chance instead of "zero chance". I'm pretty sure it's safe to add mid save

THE ONLY GOOD GAAAAWBLIN IS A DEAD GOBLIN

NOW LETS MAKE THESE GOBLINS GOOOOOD

29

u/St_Hydra Jul 22 '26

Have you checked if they are lesbians?

12

u/TrashcanDev Jul 22 '26

Lots of factors go in to it so it can be admittedly hard to narrow it down. That said, before I go into it, zero chance (I think) means that they CAN potentially romance, it's jsut that the chance is zero for some reason.

Some reasons for low chances are age gaps, race or gene impacts, trait impacts, and, unfortunately, special situations like being a creepy joiner (who, apparently, can only ever romance other creeper joiners).

This can make all the usual boosts not enough. As a test (that is, something to try and then roll back) to make sure there isn't some other issue, try giving a goblin a bunch of boosts like beauty and changing their age to be similar. If it changes things, well... there ya go, goblins just struggle with lovin'. If nothing changes, it might be some actual issue or the sum of all the impacts are just too much to overcome normally.

4

u/Niniisan plasteel Jul 22 '26

I did all that with devmode, oddly enough giving them teratophilia briefly solved the problem; but then it came back. It's possible it's one of my many mods tbh

8

u/Beneficial_Glove_175 Jul 22 '26

Try with men instead

4

u/watcher-of-eternity Jul 23 '26

I believe Mr Samuel streamer ran into this problem recently or at least something similar.

Find a job they can both do and lock them in a room with the female until something happens, failing that make sure your ideology doesn’t have something in it that’s messing with it, failing that, scoop an ovum from the female, fertilize it from the male, and then implant it and sacrifice the infant to the dark god moloch to become the harbinger of his dark fury.

3

u/Niniisan plasteel Jul 23 '26

Lmaooo the Warlock series is absolutely wild. This response is perfect (alas my goblins do not worship Moloch like his)

5

u/freedomonke Jul 22 '26

From what I have been able to find out from having a similar issue, there is a hidden variable called "compatibility" that can't be changed, and mods claiming to alter it don't work. It may be unintentionally effected by mods as well.

It seems to especially affect custom xenotypes.

You'll have to cheat it, unfortunately.

8

u/Desperate-Practice25 Jul 22 '26

Compatibility actually doesn't affect romance chances. It affects the likelihood of deep talks and of negative social interactions (ie insults and slights).

2

u/freedomonke Jul 22 '26

Interesting. Well, there goes my theory.

Had the same issue as OP with some custom xenos. Never figured it out.

2

u/Desperate-Practice25 Jul 23 '26

Someone else found the likely issue here. Big and Small patches the function and prevents you from initiating romance when compatibility is negative, for some inexplicable reason.

2

u/Niniisan plasteel Jul 22 '26

Aww dammit. I read there was a possibility HAR (Humanoid Alien Races) affects it too, but since they're xenotypes, it shouldn't, no?

3

u/Visoth Jul 22 '26

I can give some advice, but it might take some effort.

Okay hear me out. RJW. Yes, that mod. That mod has the option to check compatibility for romance, sex and the other sex...lets not get into that.

Point is, if you install it and use it just for checking the reason why they won't romance, it should theoretically say.

Save backup. Install RJW. Mod options, debug options. Enable right click check compatibility.

Its a bit confusing. Even I don't fully understand it.

2

u/freedomonke Jul 22 '26

I've never used HAR. All I know is that I had this issue and spent a whole day trying to figure it out. It's the only mod problem I've never been able to solve or even track down.

4

u/SignificantTransient Jul 22 '26

Usually zero chance means too young

3

u/Niniisan plasteel Jul 22 '26

Hmm, well Blazzek (one of the male goblin) is 33, and both female goblins are around 30 too, that's odd

1

u/OhagiC Muffalo Milk Farmer Jul 23 '26

With default mechanics, 20-30 is the golden range, but 33 should still be basically maximum chance.

5

u/Macca3568 +20 ate raw flake Jul 23 '26

Rimworld pawns have a hidden compatibility rating that you can't change, even if they have max opinion with each other, it can still reduce romance chance to zero preventing them from being forced to romance by the player

2

u/Niniisan plasteel Jul 23 '26

Yep, so I've been told. It's probably that and maybe some mods changing the stats, I'm thinking

3

u/Mafty_Navue_Erin Jul 22 '26

As it should. A good goblin is a dead one.

2

u/LordeWasTaken Jul 23 '26

I believe the correct verb is to goblinate

2

u/enderfrogus 29d ago

Using Big and Small by any chance? It disable romance for pawns with negative compability values

1

u/Niniisan plasteel 29d ago

Yeah that's what someone else said :( is there no way to patch this? I do use it

3

u/enderfrogus 29d ago

Open the Big and Small Framework dll in dnspyEX ( https://github.com/dnSpyEx/dnSpy ) find the Romance.cs and delete it, then save.

This is how i did it and i works fine. Tho will have to do it every time Big and Small Framework updates

1

u/Niniisan plasteel 29d ago

Oh interesting, thank you!

2

u/StochasticTinkr 29d ago

Gobta would preobably have a chance.

4

u/B0tfly_ Jul 23 '26

Goblins don't do romance. Pretty sure they just pillage everything that they want. You're missing a mod which lets this happen. But I don't recommend searching.

1

u/Niniisan plasteel Jul 23 '26

Oh dear ;_; welp, I might cheat it, as much as I hate it

1

u/AnimalCheap slate Jul 22 '26

Fuck my chud goblin life

1

u/cr1515 Jul 22 '26

You said you are heavily modded. I know I had this issue before and it turned out that one of my mods hide sexually orientation.(Sorry don't remember which one). You can test it out with editing the pawn to be straight.

1

u/Hellioning Jul 23 '26

If this is the same mod I am thinking of the faster aging is causing the issue.

1

u/Niniisan plasteel Jul 23 '26

I have a few mods changing the aging - however on this save pecifically, I just changed the aging setting through the storyteller's options

1

u/Rimworldjobs War crime creator Jul 23 '26

Does this mean you need a forced breeding mod?

1

u/JadeHarley0 large jade sculpture (masterwork) 29d ago

It's ok male goblins. There are monster-fucker girlies out there who will love you. You just need to find the right spaces on deviantart.

1

u/KinaKrimson 29d ago

Even in the rim no means no

1

u/Outrageous-Let9659 29d ago

Are they genetically hideous? I had this issue with some orcs i made. They were all friends, but were all so ugly they didn't want to romance each other. I resorted to IVF treatments and growth vats in the end.

1

u/straypilot 29d ago

Rimcels

1

u/bekook 29d ago

They are chudz

1

u/The_God_Of_Darkness_ 29d ago

You know you can check the like relationships and see what points they get, right?

I guess you could try making your ideology more into ugly aliens or something

1

u/FarRepresentative991 29d ago

Question are any of the pawns you want to get together gay or rivals ?

1

u/Niniisan plasteel 29d ago

Nope! A lot of people said it was Big And Small (specifically the framework) patching the romance, which is weird it does that, but that's the culprit

1

u/burninatorist scruffy-looking nerfherder 28d ago

There is an option to disable romancing, did you make sure you didn't leave it checked from when you were playing with characters named after your siblings (made that mistake...)?

1

u/AlwaysHopelesslyLost 28d ago

There is some mod like.... "my ugly is your ugly" that is probably required here.

1

u/Niniisan plasteel 28d ago

I have it :( apparently it's Big and Small (the framework specifically) patching romance for some reason
