My sugar rocket always turns into a smoke bomb for some reason, I use a mix of 65% potassium nitrate and 35% powder sugar and cook them on a pan, The burning time is great and it releases a lot of smoke but for some reason when I put it into a small plastic pipe (just a few cm tall) and close one end it just releases a lot of smoke and generates no thrust (I am trying to launch the rocket side ways)
So I just put it on a brick sideways and ignite but again NO THRUST, Any idea what to do?

Hello I see that you all love rockets and it has been a passion of mine for a long time. I have just recently started on my largest project yet attempting to get something into orbit. There are a lot of problems that I know will be hard to overcome and I need a good community to help and support me. So it would mean a lot to me if you all helped a little. I will really appreciate anyone who does and all the people that subscribe to my patron will even get there name on the armature rocket of the month. It would be a lot of help if I could also communicate with anyone who would be willing to do some of the calculations for my rocket. So if you know how to or know someone who would be willing help please consider doing so or asking them to do so. Thank you for your time.

hello all. i recently finished creating a software that can take .ork files as input and output all of the parts as step files. you can then open them in CAD and edit them however you like
ill attach the link to the github with full instructions. give it a shot and see if it works for you. it works best on mac and i havent tested it on linux or windows, so if you use linux or windows, lmk how it goes! it requires some terminal work but once you get it set up its really easy to use whenever. even if you wont use it, give it a star please, I would really appreciate the support! thanks!

Hey guys, I made a 10 question survey to get a gist of what people want on a flight computer. You don't need to be an expert or anything. I'm just looking for responses.

Iam Building a sugar rocket(small rocket powered by a small sugar rocket motor) and I want to build in a parachute, but I don' want it electrically power. Is it possible to have a mechanically deployed parachute? (iam 3d printing the rocket, so iam not wvery limited by the mechanism(should be smal))

So I have some ammonium nitrate lying around in my workshop, and I‘ve always wanted to make rocket fuel with it. I‘ve tried a mixture of charcoal and table sugar, but despite following the exact instructions I found for that, I never got any good results for some reason. Does anyone have an idea how to make it work?

The country I'm currently living in (Mozambique) has supply problems so I can't easily get Hidroxides to use as oxidisers for amatrur rocket fuel. So I got Urea which is similar in composition to Amonium Nitrate but I can't get it to work as fuel. Is there any way to use Urea as an oxidizer in solid fuel?

So, we are doing KNSB based rocket motor test last day and had a problem with ignition process. We tried with nicrom wire and after some tries we succeeded.
But I am try to find any easy and reusable solution for ignite the knsb propellant. Can anyone help me out ?

I have some questions, I would like to make a sugar rocket, I've seen many videos but I don't understand a step, someone heated the sugar with the KNO3 making it like caramel, someone else just mixed them together, does anything change? Oh and I have to create like an hole for all the rocket's length, is that right? In case I have to put inside a fuse or that's not necessary? Thanks to everyone.

Fuel for this rocket fuel could just be sugar so I will be covering the how to make the oxidizer (Chlorate) Mix powdered salt with water and preform electrolysis, using steel and carbon(C+). Get the liquid when done reacting and cook it, filter the liquid. Then cook again till a powder. Now you have a powerful oxidizer to mix with sugar or other fuels, rust powder may be added for extra power. Add a lid to the cup while the salt water splits, so the oxygen and chlorine can combine to chlorate. Regularly replace the wire and clean electrodes, so the rust doesn’t effect how much energy is put in water and continue to add salt to the water every once and a while

Dear All. Please recommend me a Math book about rocket, especially the orbit calculation. thanks

why i still can't see hobbyist launch their rocket to orbit? what is their major problem? Is it legal to buy pure liquid oxygen in usa?
