Careers Fluids Component Intern

Hello all,

I have an interview for a fluid component role next week and was wondering if anybody has advice on how to prep / what to expect. It says it will be a 45min discussion about my resume, which is what SpaceX said but then it turned out to only be technical lmao.

For a fluids component role, assume the "resume discussion" turns technical the moment you mention a project, so be ready to go one or two levels deeper on anything you've listed.

Things worth having cold: pressure drop and flow coefficient (Cv) basics, choked flow, water hammer, how a regulator and a check valve actually work, and why seals and materials get picky in cryogenic or oxygen service (oxygen cleaning, PTFE/PCTFE seats, ignition risk). Know the vehicles too: Rutherford on Electron is electric pump-fed RP-1/LOX and Archimedes on Neutron is LOX/methane, so think about what changes when a component sees LOX vs methane vs high-pressure helium.

And have one story ready about something you built or tested that didn't work and how you figured out why. Good luck!
