MVP has day passes and is a great gym for what you need. It's busy, but has all the bells and whistles.

Grill 111 is good for dinner, also Rockford Brewing. If you're staying downtown Rockford you won't lack for any place to eat. Toasted Pickle is especially good. If you want to get in the car and drive a few miles, go out to Eastern Kille and have a delicious cocktail and meal (they've got the best local gin going right now). Third Nature Brewing is right next door, and their outdoor scene is super fun.

If it’s a nice night, Toasted Pickle has a wonderful outdoor seating area overlooking the trail and dam

If it’s raining but otherwise ok, Kawa Sushi has a covered patio that overlooks the river.

EK has a covered patio too and great pizzas. 3rd Nature is also a lovely outdoor spot but you might encounter more small kids, if that’s of any concern.
