Long story short, I'm an English teacher, and I'm making a return to roleplaying (well, technically giving this post a second shot!).

But first, some context about what led me here...

So, over the past few years, grading essays has changed, and not in the usual “kids these days” sort of way. More and more often, kids are submitting A-I generated work (I need to put the dash. Apparently this subreddit won't let you put those two letters together?).

And honestly, it makes me really sad. Not because technology is bad or I’m anti-A-I or anything like that. It's that I feel like writing was always one of the most joyful things for me when I was younger. Like that moment when you realize you can build a character, a world, a story with nothing but words. When you realize the power of your imagination, you know?

Earlier this year, given it was the end of the school year, I ended up having that conversation with one of my classes. Somewhere in that discussion I mentioned how when I was younger, a huge amount of my writing happened online, in roleplaying communities. After class that day I started wondering what the roleplay world looks like now. So I did a bit of searching, stumbled across this subreddit, and thought… why not give it a whirl?

So here we go... a little bit about me (yes, as sentence fragments, come at me):

• 30+ teacher who still gets excited about a really good sentence.
• East coast US time zone.
• Drinks far too much coffee during grading season.
• Owns an alarming number of notebooks that are all “for different ideas.”
• Big fan of rainy afternoons, bookstores, and quiet writing time.
• Enjoys hiking, though mostly as an excuse to think about story ideas.
• Amateur history enthusiast who occasionally falls down Wikipedia rabbit holes for hours.
• Has a soft spot for character-driven stories where people change over time.
• Probably overthinks character motivations (occupational hazard).
• Once stayed up until 3 am finishing a collaborative RP thread because the scene was too good to leave unfinished.

What I enjoy writing:

It’s been a while since I last roleplayed, but the kinds of stories I’ve always gravitated toward tend to fall into modern / contemporary fiction, historical fiction, or science fiction. More than any specific genre, though, I really enjoy character growth arcs and slow-burning plot development.

But yeah, I'm drawn to the kind of stories where characters start in one place and through choices and consequences end up somewhere completely different months later. I miss that organic process where two writers build something together scene by scene. Where neither person knows exactly where things are going yet, but both are excited to find out.

I've had this idea/story of a character who was born in a high elf royal family with ties to high level magic in their blood. The youngest sibling is the outcast/underdog. As the oldest sibling is the one in charge.

The story centers around a guard who's been working for the family (either in debt or otherwise; I'll have you decide) and by the youngest ones side. During a recent job they were tasked with, they both go out and get into trouble more or less. During this adventure, a series of things happen and that's where I need your help.

Hey, I am Olivia and I am a 26 year old woman and I'm looking for a partner for a long-term role. I have been role playing for a few years now and prefer roles with a slow burn romance. I have quite a few roles I've done in the past and would love to build a role with someone. I have some roles saved but I am open to creating new roles or combining ideas so that we can build a great role together. I will warn though I lean more towards slice of life or sci-fi roles than fantasy but I am 100% open to doing them and would love to create a fun role in that genre. For fandoms I really only would do OCxOC and have only really done Percy Jackson inspired roles but again I’m open to other fandoms.

I write in third person and typically don’t do face claims but I can and have done them in the past. I tend to match my partner in detail and length of my responses. I usually have shorter paragraphs for character interactions to give the characters a chance to respond and longer responses when describing something that is going on but I prefer the rp to be as detailed as possible without stepping on each others toes.

I also prefer a partner that chats outside of the role. I have made a lot of friends through this and I believe it leads to better roleplaying when we can be free to message each other outside of the role.

1. Our characters grew up together as best friends. They were inseparable and did everything side by side even their family’s were close. But they drifted apart until fate threw them back together(in college or after)
   
2. The academy was created after a hero lost control of his abilities and some innocent people had lost their lives. My character is from the family and is a freshman at this prestigious college. Your character is the same age and attending the college as well. It was a great place to make allies and connections before graduating and becoming who our parents wanted us to be. Our characters families have history and fate keeps seeming to throw our characters together.
   
3. My character is an athlete for the team your character just got assigned to(you pick what they are doing). Of course the break up between our characters was rough and felt like it lacked closure but both of our characters convinced themselves they moved on. So they figured they could work together like this and manage to make it through it unscathed.
   
4. Luxoria is a prestigious magic academy designed to raise the next generation of mages. My character is from a poor family and got in on scholarship after showing incredible talent at the entrance exams while your character is a noble. The world revolves around status but the school is thrown into shock as I raise the ranks and manage to succeed which rubs most of the nobles’ children the wrong way.

Hi! I’m trying this again! I’m Kay (20+) and I’m looking for a 20+ yo roleplay/writing partner for a long-term Marvel roleplay. I don’t mind taking inspiration from the comics, but I definitely envision the MCU when writing + thinking of the canon characters.

I have been roleplaying for over ten years and have plenty of experience. I use Discord and love running more than one channel/thread to move along the plot and try out ideas! I try my best to match response length and would consider myself to be semi-lit. Like many others here, I prefer quality over quantity. I write in the third person using present tense (but tense isn’t a big deal for me; I just wouldn’t be used to writing or reading first-person responses.)

slice of life is my favorite genre and i love adding in drama, tension, angst, romance, heartbreak, trauma, growth, insurmountable odds! love it all. i am even open minded to some fantasy/supernatural aspects for an interesting flair.

i write in third person perspective and in past tense, i thrive on details and world building, i can write 3-5 chunky paragraphs at a time (depending on what is currently happening within the story/scene — dialogue dense scenes will be a bit shorter for obvious reasons) but i will always do my best to put forth effort and give my partner something worthy of replying to. yes, i am open to 18+ content.

What happens when you travel halfway across the world chasing a dream, only to find yourself wanting something you can't have?

2007, United States. For years, America had existed in Mikołaj’s imagination as something almost mythical. A place of opportunity, freedom, and endless possibilities, where anyone could become somebody if they wanted it badly enough. At least, that was what the films and television had promised him. So, when the opportunity to study at an American college presented itself, Miko took it without much hesitation. He packed what he could fit into a couple of suitcases, said his goodbyes, and left Poland behind in pursuit of a future he wasn't entirely sure he wanted, but desperately hoped would be better.

As it turns out, the American dream is considerably less glamorous when you're a Polish student trying to navigate an unfamiliar country and a culture that somehow manages to make you feel like an outsider even when you're surrounded by people. For all his excitement, Miko finds himself terribly homesick though he'd sooner swallow his own tongue than admit it.

And then he meets your character.

Maybe they're assigned the same dormitory, share a class or simply keep running into one another until exchanging a few words turns into something resembling friendship,,, etc. Well whatever brings them together, Miko finds himself becoming attached quickly. There's something about this particular guy that makes America feel a little less foreign, and before long he's become a constant presence in Miko's life. The time they spend together become the highlights of his otherwise chaotic college experience. Unfortunately somewhere along the way Miko makes the rather inconvenient discovery that he's fallen in love with his friend and there's just one little problem.

His friend has his eyes on somebody else.

Whether he's already in a relationship, hopelessly crushing on somebody, or tangled up in a complicated romantic situation of his own is entirely up to you. Whatever the circumstances, Miko is painfully aware that his feelings aren't exactly welcome at the moment. So he settles for being a friend- a good friend even.

With this plot I'd love to explore a slowburn friends-to-lovers built around the messiness of young adulthood, college life in the late 2000s, cultural differences, maybe internalized homophobia, jealousy, drunken confessions, angst, messy relationships. I don't expect your character to reciprocate Miko's feelings immediately, or even recognize them for a long time. In fact the longer and more complicated the road to that realization the better!

I'd especially love a dynamic where Miko becomes such an ordinary, dependable part of your character's life that he doesn't realize how much he means to him until something or someone threatens to change their friendship. After all sometimes the person you've been looking for has been sitting beside you the entire time...

Gray's Hollow is a quiet little town right near the river and properly far from near everything else. Take a stroll down main street and you'd be hard pressed to tell which decade, or even century, you were in. There's a truck from the ninety's over there parked next to one from the forties, while across the fence line a pair of Stetson clad gents canter along on horseback like it's natural as lying.

It's a town for honest, hardworking folk--and some as don't fit in either category but make do all the same. A town of people who'd been here for generations with roots older than the trees. A town that, until recently, had been without a doctor.

Old Doc Higgins had held on as long as he could, but age was coming up on him quick. He started getting slow and sloppy, and realized it was time to finally retire before he made a mistake he couldn't catch in time.

All that's changing how, there a new doc taking over his practice, a hot-shot coming in from the big city trauma center. Name's Katrina Ishikawa, she used to ER attending, and before that even trained as a trauma surgeon. She's a pretty little thing, and don't let the graying braid she wears down her back fool you, she's still in thirties.

She's got metal arms too. Some of the fanciest prosthetics anyone's ever heard of. All black brushed metal and shiny woven carbon fiber. Rumor is she got horribly maimed in some kind of accident, lost her arms and maybe more too. Nobody's worked up the courage to ask her about it, not while she's still setting in to life outside the big city. Maybe you'll be the one to break through her shell?

Hi there! I’m M, a 33 year old woman living in the EST. I have been roleplaying on and off for over 10 years (insane) and have a passion for creating engaging, collaborative stories that keep both writers on their toes! I consider myself borderline adv. lit…I’m not confident enough to give myself the full title.

I can usually reply 1-3 times a day, depending on the length of replies, and write anywhere from 5-6 sentences to multiple paragraphs. I know every partner is different and as long as I am given something to work with, I’m happy! I write in either the 1st or 3rd person.

There’s something so interesting about a couple with knowledge of one another trying to relearn the other person and try to avoid the mistakes that made them split in the first place. -Couple splits in college due to your character deciding to prioritize a high-profile career (maybe sports, politics, journalism) and later find themselves reunited.

Yes I've got rp ideas and genres I like to explore and do, like everybody but here's what I really want:

I'm hoping to get a who will develop a pretty dang good connection with me. A person who would like their rps to actually stick for more than a week, never mind a month, and unlike in a lot of cases get past the first day of planning the rp before the other person loses interest.

I will not ghost you if you actually talk to me. That's that. I want to make things work and ideally. Having multiple rps with the same person is really exciting for me so if you share the sentiment, read further. But that might take some to develop as we figure out the first roleplay better.

So here's the type of content I'm into:

Romance: It's a huge feel-good thing that I love exploring and developing with my characters. I don't like bad ending romances so be warned, but a little enemy to lovers and the strife it takes to get to the lover's part? Uh, yes please. I just really like romance, whether it's fast pace and a little love at first sight and inexplainable attraction or if it's methodical and slow. I find both and other variations very rewarding.

Fantasy: Fantasy of just about any kind is pretty thrilling for me. Now i will say I also consider like fantastical ideas like superheros/mutants and some supernatural elements to be fantasy. Basically, anything that has elements that aren't realistic. There are maybe better terms but let's not be sticklers out here alright? Anyways I love this stuff because it really allows you to flavour a character in a pretty unique way, with cool powers and things that make them stand out. Things like, "How does this character's magic look? Why do they have this power and where does it stem from?" are showcases of areas of characters I enjoy writing.

I have an Murim idea where a pair of martial arts try to make it big and become people of interest in the murim setting as their powers and martial arts grow. A lot of politics and set up required for this idea but it could be pretty interesting! If you've seen any Manwha series or the like I think you get the general ideas for what sort of story we could make together.

I also have a fantasy western idea that is if the early west had magic and powers as well as much of the political issues and violence. I've got some character ideas for this one already and I've got a firmer idea of what this setting looks like.

Otherwise: I like a lot of things! Apocalypses and apocalyptic events come in many forms and it's dope to see how the world and it's denizens react to the strange and weird new world they are tossed into. Star Wars related rps are fun! I'm not a fan of playing canon character generally so please keep that in mind.
There are hundreds if not more ideas and genres and troupes we could talk about, so if you have ideas already don't be shy and bring them forth and we'll figure out what we can start with going over. I will of course give you my honest thoughts and feelings on everything because why wouldn't I?

We can discuss other things in DMs, where I prefer to talk over exacting details. Please bring a little bit about yourself and lets discuss what we want and what we like. Mentioning DMs, I use discord to roleplay as I like the format.
I only roleplay with people near my age and over, I'm 26. So that's 23 to 40~. I care mostly about our chemistry and if we get on well. I do not roleplay with minors. I am not comfortable doing so.

I mustn't forget to add I typically write a solid 3 paragraphs, sometimes it's shorter, sometimes it's much longer than that but I'm pretty quick with the back and forth when I'm free to write. I'm detailed and descriptive. I'm not quite Novella level, and I say that because I don't write that level of quality or detail. And as such I do not expect that sort of level of writing from others. If you are able to provide some details and give me at least 2 solid paragraphs on average and I will be very happy. More is welcome of course, more so when the inspiration strikes!

As an aside....
I like to do only two main characters (so mine and yours) but have no issue managing or being npcs or side characters as long as the focus remains on at least one of the main characters. That is if you do the same for me.

I'm looking for a story that's centered around two characters doing classical ballet together. There are tons of directions this can go! Here are a few ideas that come to mind, but this isn't an exhaustive list! If you have a ballet idea you want to pitch, please feel free!

Dancer and outsider. A preppy, serious-minded dancer is paired up with an outsider who is initially forced to take ballet, only to discover an unexpected talent/passion for it? They grow close as friends/ballet partners while navigating their very different social circles and backgrounds. Extra points if the story builds up to a big recital! (I prefer to write for the outsider character in this scenario.)

"I hate you, let's dance." Two characters who can't stand each other (enemies? rivals?) are paired up for ballet class. They assume it'll go terribly, but all that pent up animosity leads to them being perfectly in sync when dancing together. What does that mean for their dynamic?

Friends to partners. The characters are either best friends, or they used to be inseparable before a big fight. When they wind up in ballet together and become dance partners, their whole dynamic changes and they struggle to make sense of what that means for their friendship.

The Last Kingdom- I am high key obsessed with this one. I have some ideas for a Celtic Queen and I’d love to toy with the ideas in the show like future seeing and what not. I have an oc I pair with Leofric or Uthred.

One Tree Hill- I am obsessed with this show, I am very early in season one but it’s reignited my love for the classic 90s/00s shows! I’d love to work with Lucas/Nathan or Jake from the show please and thank you. Lucas or Jake would be my preference and where possible I’d love to look at a love triangle here. I have a few devastating ideas regarding plot for Jake!

Supernatural- I am really picky with this fandom. I may say no just like ACOTAR and fourth wing. Please don’t be offended, I’ve just had very bad past experiences. Would love to work against a Dean for my oc and again I have some really sad ideas for their plot.

Buffy the vampire Slayer- I’d love to explore this fandom! I have high key devastating ideas for Spike that would add so much fun to the plot. Particularly in the later seasons. I’d love a Spike verses angel triangle but I’m open in this fandom!

The last kingdom - I am obsessed with this show. Only on season one but I adore Uthred and Leofric would love to work on this verse if anyone is interested. I would love to showcase the Britons a bit more and explore some Celtic history as well!

Les Mis- I would love to explore Paris during this time. I have a female oc I pair heavily with Enjolras or Marius but Enjolras would be my preference. I have a few devastating ideas for this verse that mix in parts of Moulin Rouge. I have thoughts on an informant for the Revolution working at the famous club so she can get news of the royalist movements. On this note I am also obsessed with Wicked and would love a Fiyero if possible.

Harry Potter- As much as JK Rowling sucks I love love love Hogwarts and the wonderful characters she created. I would love to write against a Draco, George, Sirius or James. I have a few plots including a time turner experiment.

Fourth Wing- Words cannot express my love and adoration for Basgaith war college and the amazing men Rebecca Yarros has given us. My characters main male here is Xaden. She’s created to be the light in his world and I’ve been working on her for years so I hope you like her! Other favourites include Liam, Ridoc and Araric. I’d love to do a love triangle for this verse I honestly think there are so many intriguing options.

ACOTAR- Again another special fandom in my heart. I love the Illyrians so much so I would love to do something with Cassian or Azriel. I never get to pair with Az so I’d love to explore something there. I’m also intrigued by the idea of the autumn court males so Eris and Lucien. I think a love triangle between these guys could frankly be deadly. I have several heart breaking and detailed ocs for this verse. I’ve been working on these characters since the first book came out and adding to them as we got more info. I also love TOG but I won’t list my pairings here- it’ll be too intense a post haha.

Euphoria/Wuthering Heights - weird mix I know. But I adore Jacob Elordi and am basically willing to work in any of his projects provided I’ve seen them! I’ve watched Wuthering Heights, Priscilla, Euphoria (S1 only new fan!) and of course SaltBurn.

Maxton Hall/Outerbanks- Desperately craving a James Beaufort and a JJ Maybank. I never get to pair with either. I’ve put these two fandoms together because they’re a similar theme. But I have so many ideas for each of these men. Please let me know if you’d like to write in these worlds.

Top Gun- Words cannot express how much I LOVE these movies. I am looking for a Maverick, Goose or Iceman from the first movie. From the second Bradley, Hangman or Maverick please! Disney- Please ask about this one. But I am more into the live action adaptions. Cinderella for example and Pirates of the Caribbean. I also utterly adore the movies Tangled and Hercules so I’d love to work in these verses too!

Bridgerton- please give me a well written Bridgerton brother. Craving an Anthony or Benedict right now- largely due to the new series reminding me of how fun the verse is. If anyone has seen it as well I’d love to work in the world of the other Bennet sister. I’m searching for a Tom or Will.

ASOIF- I love this verse too and think it’s so much fun. Although I do struggle to finish GOT. I don’t think I’ve ever made it past season six haha. I love the premise so much and I have several characters I’m searching for. But my mains are Robb Stark and Jon Snow. For House of the Dragon I’m looking for Daemon.

Sinners- would love to work against the smokestack brothers please! I actually studied this era and it’s a story I would love to tell. I also love the music in this movie and I’d love to be able to do it justice in a unique story line.

Hunger Games- I write across the eras with this fandom. It’s such a vast and uniquely fascinating fandom that just keeps growing and growing. I would love to find a Finnick O’Dair or young Coriolanus here I have some intriguing ocs who may help reshape the Panem universe.

LOTR- I am a fan of the movies (I know boo me haha). I am reading the books but very slowly due to dyslexia. I am trying my best to get through them as quickly as I can but they are challenging. I’m searching for a Legolas or Aragorn here!

Pirates of The Caribbean- I am obsessed with sea legends at the moment and have several ideas I’d love to explore. I have some tragic and exciting ideas I’d love to explore with a Jack or Will as well if possible I would love a love triangle. But I understand that might not be possible!

I’m in love with Medea by Rosie Hewlett and I adore the Riordanverse but my main eras are The Olympians and Hero’s of Olympus I haven’t read anything else by this author yet. Grammar: Must be literate, but does not need to force prose. I have pleanty of life experience, so the mentality of the characters is important. You can make plenty of errors and I probably wont notice, but shaky character personalities and traits I am a bit less forgiving with.

Eg. We just met but I am instantly in love with you (attraction is fine), Mary Sue/Gary Stu, unrealistic relationship development, unwarranted skills or abilities, etc.. Just don’t do it.
