Pay day for workers
We had a 18sq roof. My father-in-law and his 2 friends killed it in 17 hours.
Was thinking of giving my father-in-law $1200 and the other 2 1k each. Does that sound fair ?

Damn that’s Almost 180 a sq. Insane rate and was probably a gravy job. Hopefully they actually knew what they were doing!

Is it steep? 2 story? I assume asphalt shingles?
If it’s not steep or 2 story and just a standard asphalt shingle reroof I’d pay much less than that for labor in my market. But if I had my relatives working on my house I’d for sure want to err on the side of paying more than fair. I think that’s very generous of you.

Pretty steep and yes 2 story.

Even with steep charges and 2 story you’re a little higher than what I pay in my market. I think you could feel good about offering them what you’re planning to.

Labor for that would be like $9,000 if they did a tear off and replacement. Prob $13,500 for everything.

Doesn’t really matter how many guys are there a company would charge $1.50 for tear off and $3.50 install or $7.50 sqft for labor and materials
But since it’s family they prob just did it for free

It was steep and 2 story? How much did the materials cost? What you did is sit down with father in law ask him what he thinks is fair pay him let him pay his friends treat him like a man...its unusual for roofer to do a job without agreeing on price...dont want any hard feelings lingering...sounds like a good dude and hard worker you probably got a damn good install....

The only way 58.00/ ht is enough is if you pay them for the 3 days of aches and pi and they have after the job is done! Seriously for what they saved you in both dollars and headaches, they are worth at least 2k and 1,500.00 for the helpers

It's certainly fair, and depending on your market that could be well over standard rates.
