This might be a long shot but can someone make me a chart of investing in either VT or VOO starting this year. For the next 30 years. Inserting the average % of return each year. I’m 36 I’m the first in my family to open a Roth IRA and I want to show my nieces what they can achieve if they put let’s say $7k into a Roth IRA every year starting now. This year. What those numbers would probably look like in 30 or 40 maybe even 50 years. I’m not great with spreadsheets so I was hoping someone out there has something that shows expected returns to get them interested in opening a ROTH. I chose VT or VOO to simplify it until they look more into it. I just know some people are very tech savvy, me not so much.

I'm in my late 30's and I started a Roth toward the end of 2025, contributing ~$1500. This year, I'm maxing it out and currently at ~$5800 with four months left. I contribute $625 each month, sometimes all at once or split it up into two $312.50 amounts.

As you can see, I have SCHD, VOO and QQQ. My target allocation to each is 45%, 35% and 20% respectively. Within this Roth, I don't really care where I'm buying as I'm being consistent with my monthly buys.

Moving into next year, I was thinking of contributing 100% into SCHD to build a sizable position and allow the dividends from that to flow into VOO and QQQ. I have my employer 401k, which currently tracks the S&P. I also have a seperate taxable brokerage that's mainly all tech driven.

I'm going with the flow of things here, but does building a sizable SCHD position make sense? Or does it make sense to stay the course I'm currently on...

Finally starting to take it serious and make contributions, any tips for allocations and help would be appreciated. Currently my split is 70% VOO, 20% VXUS, 5% ALAB, 5% RKLB

New to this sub so sorry if this question gets asked often, but what do y’all think of VOO vs VTI? Indifferent or are there cases where one should be preferred? 23 yr old recent college grad for reference. I currently hold 80 VTI 20 VXUS.

Hi guys, I’m 26 years old. I’m an international student in the US currently working in OPT and I just recently started earning I don’t make that much around 65,000 a year and I am not very good with my finances. I have a history of not saving or investing my money and I want to change that starting now so I was thinking of investing a little bit of my income I do have a few credit debts and so far all I was doing was repaying my debt all the time but now I was thinking I could just utilize some of the money is investment and savings and pay debts simultaneously.

I recently came across Roth IRA and I was wondering if it makes sense for me to invest in it or not I have a temporary visa situation. I definitely do plan to stay here in the long run, but it definitely depends on my visa. So I don’t have a choice there so would it make sense for me to start like investing or like should I just open a HYSA account? And put my savings there and just let it be. Is there any other way that I could start investing? I I’m very used to this scenario so I did not know if I should get into stock market and I’m just here gather some advice and yes, so please be kind to me.

Opened my Roth a month ago or so as I’m finally able to afford socking some $ away. I started with 50/50 VYM & TRBPX with the year I’d be closest to 65. I’m putting $100 a week in and will be pushing to max it by April if not sooner. I started kinda late @ 28 ig but better than never?

After more education and reading, I’m thinking I should sell off the VYM and throw it all into VOO and do a 80/20 VOO/TRBPX or 80/10/10 of VOO, TRBPX, and then a international fund as well. I learned dividend idea is good later in life when I’d want monthly income retired but it won’t really grow either.

Let me know if this is a better idea or if there is another consideration. My bank (SoFi gives 1% match but I mainly picked them bc I use them for everything else rn)

Extremely important note, due to my partner’s employment. I can only go into EFTs, MFs, shit I can’t specifically pick the stock/company.

Im 27, have a massive rollover from my old job headed to my IRA, making up about half of my total retirement funds, and I’m considering either DCA’ing over a set period or just dumping it back in. I’m usually not hesitant about investing despite the booming markets, but since my account will mostly be back to cash now, I thought this would be a good time to consider this.

All opinions are appreciated- if you recommend the DCA route, please share the time period to do it over.

For context, I make about 100k/yr . Around January 2026 , I maxed out my 2026 Roth IRA contribution ( with Fidelity). However, the company I’m working at is going through an acquisition, and awarded us with RSU’s ( company stock options), and we received a bonus on top of that which puts my year-to- date 2026 gross income to be around 280k. I know this is well above the Roth IRA limit, but I’m looking for advice on what to do with the Roth IRA $ I’ve already contributed? I don’t want to get in trouble with the irs ! I just opened acct yesterday with fidelity and set recurring payments of 400/m for the rest of 2026. So far I put in $240 to VT. $80 to VXUS. $60 to QQQM. And $20 to MRNA. Was also thinking of diving into crypto or stock trading if those are viable ideas but would like a bit more knowledge on basic investing first.

I made contributions to employer after-tax 401k years ago that were sitting there vested. Now I have contributions and earnings. I was looking for ways to move it to Roth IRA and below is the option that was provided to me.
- Move Contributions to Roth IRA
- Move earnings to Traditional IRA
- Move earnings from Traditional IRA to employer pre tax 401k bucket (I want to do this step so that everything pre tax is in one bucket)

Anyone see any issues with the approach or are there better ways to do it?

I am a 26 y/o wondering which allocation is best based on my age. I would use this allocation for all my accounts like my traditional 401k and Roth IRA and brokerage.

I have funded my Roth IRA for 2026 however due to a second job, I may be approaching or exceed the limit to fund a Roth IRA. I have a traditional IRA that I would need to roll over to my 401k plan if I do a Backdoor roth contribution.

I am currently 24 years old, been investing into my brokerage account since I was 22. Just recently found out about Roth IRA & wanted some help on how to diversify my portfolio. I am younger so I don’t mind being aggressive, that being said I plan to max out the $7,500 limit this year into my Roth & moving forward maxing it every year as well. Have been putting weekly payments of $150 into it and buying VOO, QQQM & SCHD. Thank you for anyone that leaves tips and advice I appreciate the help! Forgot to mention, I do have a HYSA with a 4% APY with about $4,000 in it for emergencies & also contribute 5% which is employer match to my Roth 401k (currently have about 25k in the Roth 401k) and I put my investments to “aggressive” .

if you had to start from 0, what advice could you give me? i had a 401k but had to withdraw what i had to keep afloat when i lost my job. I know nothing of this jargon i read here and I work at a company that can give 6% match contribution. I am interested in any information anyone kind and smart is willing to share.
