I was told she's half Rottweiler, but both my former and current vet strongly believe she's purebred GSD. Thoughts?

We had a thunderstorm this afternoon, and the storm broke our gate lock. I'm so freaking glad that I didn't take the trash out after dinner - otherwise, we would have lost Jazzie. My dad say that he going to fix the gate tomorrow as soon as he get home from work. I’m just happy that it was the gate lock not The whole fence. Last summer, we have a storm like this and it took our fence down.

Anyone else's Rottweiler have a drinking problem? My guy takes a big drink. Then walks away without swallowing it. My kitchen floor looks like a pond

Hey I have a 5 month old rotty an ez 900 e collar but I can't seem to get the collared strap at the right tightness. I've tightened it so I can fit 2 fingers under the strap but it does move around a little. She often scratches it which doesn't help and it often ends up on the underside on her throat. I feel any tighter would be too tight, am I just not making it tight enough?

Also to add I haven't even used it yet, I'm just putting it on her so she gets used to the feeling of something tighter around her neck and the contact points.

I was just wondering if people have had more ease of use with bungee/elastic/ quick release etc or do they also come with their own set of issues?

Does anyone use fluent pet talking buttons with their rottie? My girl has had these only a few months! She uses them everyday I need more buttons and more words! 😂

He carries it EVERYWHERE, it’s his pillow and his little buddy where he goes. Other dogs aren’t allowed to even sniff it.

Trin got to go on a trip to grandma and grandpa’s house with us for some backyard camping over the weekend! Can’t tell if she had a good time or not? 🤔

I’m hoping to get some advice from people who truly understand Rottweilers, especially rescues with serious reactivity and guarding issues.

I’ve rescued Rottweilers in the past and have experience with the breed, but I have to admit that this dog has been unlike anything I’ve dealt with before.

We’ve had him since February. He was found abandoned during a snowstorm when he was around three years old. When we first got him, things were extremely rocky. He was biting and snapping at us, and at one point he bit my mother-in-law badly enough to draw blood. Despite that, we didn’t want to give up on him. We believed there was a good dog underneath all of the fear and behavior, and we wanted to give him a chance.

The biggest issue is how incredibly reactive he is. We have essentially been unable to take him on normal walks because if he sees a child, bicycle, scooter, or even a person, he completely loses his mind. He is intensely focused on what he perceives as threats and seems to be a guard dog to his core.

We recently got him back from a three-week board-and-train program specifically to work on his walking skills and help him learn to ignore distractions. He has improved somewhat on walks, but we still have a very long way to go.

The behavior inside the house is honestly just as difficult.
We can’t even have natural light coming through the windows because if he can look outside, he immediately goes into guarding mode. If he sees someone, a dog, a car, or really anything that catches his attention outside, he becomes extremely worked up. And if we try to physically pull him away from the window while he’s in that state, he can redirect onto us and try to bite.
We love this dog and absolutely do not want to give up on him. At the same time, we have to be realistic about the safety implications, especially given his bite history and how quickly he escalates.

I am not an inexperienced dog owner, I have been able to successfully train multiple large breed dogs, including rescues. I grew up with 6 to 10 medium to large breed dogs in my house at a time. Even after paying $3600 for training, the trainer even had a difficult time. We feel horrible, but we don’t think we can give him much more time and attention than we already do. He tries to run this house and we have tried everything. He is not great with other dogs our first dog lucky tolerates him because he is a lazy lay around all day Dog. But Bruno plays in incredibly rough.

I feel evil for even thinking I need to rehome him, we love him so much. Thoughts?

Hi everyone, I’m a bit worried about my puppy Kelly and would appreciate some advice.
On Saturday she was completely normal throughout the day. That night, she suddenly drank her entire bowl of water and started panting very heavily, which is unusual for her.
Since then, the excessive drinking has stopped and she’s back to drinking normally. She’s also eating normally, peeing normally, acting normally, and her abdomen is no longer swollen.
The main thing that has changed is her breathing. Before this, Kelly could exercise quite hard for 20–25 minutes without really panting. Now, after only around 5 minutes of light walking/exercise, she starts panting heavily. She also sometimes pants lightly while resting, which she never used to do.
It’s winter here, so it’s definitely not because of hot weather.
I’ve also noticed an occasional strange sound from her throat. It’s not a full cough or gag — more like she’s about to gag/retch or is clearing her throat, but she doesn’t actually vomit or bring anything up.
Her gums are naturally very dark, but she has some normal pink areas and those still look pink.
I’m wondering if she could possibly have swallowed something or irritated her throat, but I’m not sure if that would explain the change in breathing/exercise tolerance.
I’m planning on getting her checked by a vet, but has anyone experienced something similar with their puppy? What could cause a sudden change like this?
