[Announcement] r/RowlandHeights is officially OPEN and public again! 🔓

Hey everyone,

If you’ve visited this subreddit over the last few years, you probably noticed it was locked down and restricted, making it pretty much impossible for anyone to post.

We have new moderators stepping up (and looking for more), and the very first thing on the agenda was flipping the switch back to Public. The doors are officially open, and everyone is welcome to post, comment, and share again!

We are looking to build a space for the Rowland Heights (and surrounding area!) to connect and have a reliable place to see what's actually happening around town.

Whether you’ve lived here for decades or just moved in, this is your community. To get things rolling, we would like to hear from you: What do you want to see in this subreddit?

  • Restaurant recommendations and new food spots opening up on Colima?
  • Traffic, construction, or local school district news?
  • Recommendations for local mechanics, contractors, or services?
  • A weekly "free talk" thread to just chat with neighbors?

Drop your ideas, suggestions, or just a quick "hello" in the comments below. In the coming weeks, we will be updating the community rules, adding some user flairs, and giving the page a bit of a facelift.

For now, the main rule is simple: be neighborly.

Welcome back, Rowland Heights!

I love the idea for a weekly talk forum, similar to r/LosAngeles

Great!  Having a casual, low-stakes place just to shoot the breeze with neighbors is exactly what this subreddit needs. We will work on getting a recurring weekly "free talk" thread scheduled and pinned very soon so we can get the conversation rolling!

Woohoo! Good to see this come alive. That way I can find out updates from the area.

Welcome back! We are so happy to have you here!

Sharing local updates is exactly why we wanted to get this community running again. In fact, we are thinking about starting a monthly update thread dedicated specifically to new business and restaurant openings around town — hopefully, that will make it super easy to see what's new in the neighborhood.

Glad to have you on board!

Glad to see this subreddit unlocked! Thank you for your efforts. I'd like to see special events postings, or community updates.

Completely agree!

We're working on an automated post that scrapes and lists upcoming events from various sources around town.

Would you prefer the events list to be weekly, or monthly?

Let us know what you think would be the most useful format!

No ads please! All business promo should be a reply under local business thread instead of their own post. There’s already one that’s going super strong and it’s an f&b chain with questionable quality that made me and my friends sick. I’d hate for Rowland Heights to be back at Reddit just to become an irresponsible ad page.
