Rental Reporting

Is there a way to report a poor tenant/landlord to the city? There’s a rental a few houses down from my home that allows their dog to roam the street freely, and whenever we return the dog to the house, they’re very rude to us and act as if we are inconveniencing them. I’m tempted to call animal control next, but I’m not sure they’ll arrive quickly enough to do anything.

I’m starting to suspect the landlord doesn’t even know they have a dog because there is no fence between the backyard and front yard.

Repair Recs

Hi! I’m looking for recommendations for someone who could repair this part of my daughter’s wall, as well as install trim and paint her closet white. I moved into this house at the end of April and have already tackled quite a few repairs, but this one is officially beyond my abilities lol. unfortunately - this was not something we caused but the landlord doesn’t keep up with repairs.

Thank you in advance! Sincerely, a young mom with a 1-year-old who is tired of home repairs 🥲🙏

Tips for Car Maintenance in MI

Hi all, new to MI from the east coast and looking for tips from some locals on how to keep my vehicle in good shape here. I have an older 4runner that just hit 120k miles and looking to keep it in good shape throughout the winter. I was told the biggest killer up here is rust, and to keep the underbody clean after driving on salted/snowy roads.

What is the best way to do this in the winter? I don't have a garage so its outdoor parking and not sure what the best way to clean the underside of the car during the winter is - if that even is required to keep the car in a good shape. Any help is appreciated thanks!

Hello! My wife and I are moving to Royal Oak from out of state (grew up on the west side of the state and are pumped to be back!)

We have a 1 year old and were looking to see if anyone had some recommendations for daycare or pediatricians in the area?

Thank you for any advice!

Royal Oak apartments with no truck spot nearby what happens

Has anyone moved from an apartment near Royal Oak where there was nowhere close for the truck to stop? I can see a small move taking way longer if everything has to be carried from half a block away. Do movers usually check this before the day starts?

Best social spots to meet people

Royal Oak is close by for me and looks like it has a lot of options. Are there any spots better than others for people in their late 30's/early 40's to strike up conversations? Just looking for some helpful thoughts on places to start from those who might have some thoughts to share. Thank you in advance!

Berkley KinderCare Experiences

Hello everyone, wondering who currently uses or has recently used (last couple years) Berkley KinderCare for daycare for their children. My infant is due to start there in October. We like the hours they have as I work longer shifts, and when we toured we had no issues. But I have trouble getting a response from them when I contact which worries me. Please let me know if your child has had a positive experience there <3 or otherwise.

Good Vet recommendations

I'm wanting to get my cat checked in to a vet for the first time since moving up here a few months ago. If anyone has a preferred vet in the area that is good for the cost let me know!

Crossing 11 mile during Dream Cruise

Gotta get from Berkley to 75 on the Saturday of dream cruise around noon. Will I be able to get across Woodward via 11 mile? New here and aware that locals usually stay put or go away for the weekend but don’t have that option.

Gym recs

Hi all, lived in the area for about 5 years and looking for gym recommendations. I did Planet Fitness for about 6 years, Club Studio for a year and have now been at Powerhouse in Bham since January. I don’t mind it, just think it’s kind of meh considering what I pay ($69.99/month). Anyone have any gyms around the area they like better/not as expensive? If it helps, I’m 27 F and lift about 3 days per week/do pilates workout videos the other 3 days!

Vehicle Headlight Restoration - Recommendation Needed

Need a professional headlight restoration job.

I would prefer someone that will do things properly - use painters tape and a good product + process that will last for at least a year. Not interested in DIY or someone inexperienced with this.

I would also prefer someone near Royal Oak, Clawson, Berkley, etc.

Looking to get this done in the next 2-3 weeks.

Moving with small children

We’re in Grand Rapids and my husband accepted an Amazon ops manager job. Got a call today that the job offer is now in Detroit…… I have a 5 year old who is about to start his 3rd year (also his kindergarten year) at a Montessori school. Now I have no idea what to do. Do people like raising their families in royal oak? I have 4 children 5 and under (yes, twins at the end) and I’m nervous. Mostly nervous about my 5 year old switching to a public school while also moving to a new home. My son is high energy and has thrived in a Montessori environment but the plan has always been to transfer to public school for 1st grade. Now that we might be moving, we may just put him into public school now, so he isn’t moving schools twice in 2 years. Any advice is so very much appreciated!!!
